LSU vs Arkansas

Azubuike24When Bobby Petrino does something of note in college football, people will care. Meanwhile, Les is on his way to another SEC-CG and may possibly win his 2nd title in 5 years. If he doesn't, it will be because Nick Saban wins his 2nd in 4 years.
Add to that, nothing is worse sportsmanship than the way Bobby Petrino ducked away from the Atlanta Falcons. -
cats gone wildPetrino scored 40-50+ on half the teams they played this year. Why didnt he take it easy? And as the announcers said, its because of the BCS that Les had to score more style points.
-
Azubuike24I'm not arguing with you. In the system we have, human opinion and numbers DO factor into who plays for the title.
I was commenting on how ironic it is that Bobby Petrino should ever accuse others of bad sportsmanship. -
cats gone wildI was referring to Ironman. And plus I think Petrino ran up the score on people while at Loiusville.
-
j_crazyAnd even if Arkansas was overrated LSU is far and away #1.

It would prove Alabama is the champ because they won the championship game and LSU lost it.cats gone wild;986960 wrote:Plus, its very possible Bama could beat LSU. And what would that prove? -

Far and away? Did you see the Alabama game?j_crazy;987132 wrote:And even if Arkansas was overrated LSU is far and away #1. -
jordo212000Petrino is a piece of garbage. Dude has always made a habit of running the score up on people. If you're going to do that crap (run the score up), don't say anything when people do it to you.

Maybe not far and away #1. But the distance from #2 to #3 spans the grand canyon. -
killer_ewokLSU is without question the #1 team in the land even with their close WIN AT #2 Alabama. They're not untouchable but clearly the undisputed #1 right now. No matter how much anyone hates the SEC, CGW, LSU, Les or any other 3-letter combinations....that can't be denied IMO.
Bruce Feldman tweeted earlier that if LSU wins the BCS title this year....they'll join 2002 Ohio State as the only teams do so having their total offense ranked outside of the top 50. LSU ranks 75th in total offense. -
wes_mantoothYeah lsu is legit....and Alabama is damn good too. The rest of college football is weak. There isn't anyone close to those teams level
-
Skyhook79This season has 1996 (1997 Bowl season) written all over it and to think the BCS was created in part to avoid this from happening.

In both cases, the teams knew that they were limited offensively, but they both understand that their defense and special teams are the backbones of their respective teams. They get points when they can, play possum offensively, and then let their defense get takeaways, field position, and good returns from Mathieu.killer_ewok;987412 wrote: Bruce Feldman tweeted earlier that if LSU wins the BCS title this year....they'll join 2002 Ohio State as the only teams do so having their total offense ranked outside of the top 50. LSU is the best team this year. It's pretty clear. I'm not sure who #2 is, but at this point I don't think it matters. -

I think we all realize LSU is the best team in the country.killer_ewok;987412 wrote:LSU is without question the #1 team in the land even with their close WIN AT #2 Alabama. MulvaI still think Alabama is the best team in the country. They outplayed LSU in every aspect of that game, outside of kicking field goals.
If they played 10 times I think Bama probably wins 7. -

Two wrongs don't make a right. -

In every aspect? It might of appeared that way,but you might want to look at total yards and time of possession. Its alot closer than you might think. Look it up. I will choose the "W" aspect of the game, Les clearly outcoaching Saban aspect, the biggest play of the game (Reid int), and LSU having a better special teams. LSU wanted it more and they won AT Bama.Mulva;987598 wrote: They outplayed LSU in every aspect of that game, outside of kicking field goals.

MulvaHow did he clearly outcoach Saban? Other than 1 retarded trick play call that got picked off I don't think either coach did anything remarkable.
Bama had almost 60 more yards of offense (which is a significant number when neither team even reaches 300), and moved the ball much better in general. LSU had 2 drives where they moved the ball 40 yards or more (75 and 40). Alabama had 4 (79, 62, 49, and 43).
Every drive Alabama had in the 1st half moved into LSU territory and resulted in a field goal attempt. They just have terrible kickers. That's the reason LSU won. -

So, Bama can play from their own endzone to the LSU 30 and that matters? The redzone and opposite endzone matters. And Saban made some dumb calls and did bad time management. 50 some yards more on offense and 4 seconds of having the ball longer than LSU doesnt result in wins. If getting alot of yards mattered in football, then WVU shouldnt of been killed by LSU? Right?Mulva;988213 wrote:How did he clearly outcoach Saban? Crimson streakThey really didn't kill wvu. If they don't return that kickoff wvu possibly could have won that game I wouldn't really call that killing wvu

47-21 isnt a killing? And if LSU didnt get a kickoff return WVU could have won? I didnt know that kind of td is worth 26 points. Wow, you are clueless.Crimson streak;988229 wrote:They really didn't kill wvu. If they don't return that kickoff wvu possibly could have won that game I wouldn't really call that killing wvu
Btw, shoulda, coulda, woulda. If LSU didnt show up, then WVU coulda won. Thats why they play the game.
I know you're not an OSU fan, so I will give this comparison. Was UF's win over OSU in 2006 a killing with the score of 41-14? Basically the same points difference. That's what I thought. Its funny how people are STILL trying to discredit LSU's season. -
Mulva
Yes, consistently moving the ball matters when 1 team does it and the other team doesn't. Alabama beat themselves. They had more than twice as many scoring opportunities and squandered them (4 missed field goals + botched trick play deep in LSU territory). I know they were long field goals, but that's why they have a long kicker and a short kicker. His only job on the team is to make the long field goals, and he's terrible at it (2/9 on the season).cats gone wild;988219 wrote:So, Bama can play from their own endzone to the LSU 30 and that matters?
LSU had 1 great drive at the end of the 2nd quarter, and that's all they did. Alabama did a horrible job finishing drives, but they moved the ball pretty consistently and were clearly the better team in the game in my opinion.
I know the final score is all that matters, but if they end up in a rematch for the title I would take Alabama with no hesitation at all.
And saying Alabama is the best team in the country doesn't discredit LSU at all. -
lhslep134
Agreed. They're clearly #1 and #2 IMO. And to be honest, I don't see a playoff playing out any other way than 'Bama vs. LSU in the championship so I'm fine with a rematch. I thought Stanford was the 2nd best team but they're too suspect on D.Mulva;988238 wrote: And saying Alabama is the best team in the country doesn't discredit LSU at all. -
Crimson streakI'm not discrediting lsu's season. I'm just saying that wvu game wasnt a blow out and one sided. That kick off return took all the wind out of wvu and it was all lsu after that. Lsu should hope to play bama again or someone without a great qb. Geno smith threw all over lsu and I cant see lsu stopping Blackmon and weedon from osu. I actually think that would be a great championship game than bama lsu

Which part of their loss to Iowa State makes you think that?Crimson streak;988317 wrote: I cant see lsu stopping Blackmon and weedon from osu. I actually think that would be a great championship game than bama lsu
