Who would you like to see as OSU's head coach next season? (new poll)
-
vball10setlot's of discussion on another thread, so I thought we'd poll OC..yet again
-
sleeperIf Fickell can win the B1G and a BCS bowl, at minimum, that would be an acceptable season. If he can't accomplish both of those, let's bring someone in who can.

wkfanVoted 'Other'.
Pat Fitzgerald -

Curly JMy vote is for Sleeper.
-
OneBuckeye1. Nick Saban
2. Chris Peterson
3. Gary Patterson
4. Urban Meyer
5. Dantonio
Since 1 only has slight OSU ties and a good gig. And 2 and 3 have 0 OSU ties, Urban is my most likely choice. -

Hard to have a competitive program at Northwestern. Continually utilizes his players abilities, no matter what they are and gets the most out of them. Seems like a really god guy, humble and not a narcisstic dooosh like Meyer. I liked the way he approched and played the gamw when he was a player.OneBuckeye;976292 wrote:Why? If ND and Stanford can do it. Northwestern can do it. You are recruiting kids to Chiago, the third biggest city in the country. If he was that good, he could recruit better and have better results.wkfan;976340 wrote:Hard to have a competitive program at Northwestern. It's taken him less than 6 years to become the 2nd winningest coach in Northwestern history.OneBuckeye;976412 wrote:If ND and Stanford can do it. Northwestern can do it. Over an almost 60 year period from 1948 until 2005, Northwestern made 6 bowl games. I picked 1948 because that was the year they made their first bowl, but they were playing football way before then.
Fitzgerald took over in 2006, and they've already reached 3 bowls in that span. They're 1 win away (and playing Minnesota next) from going to a bowl for the 4th straight season. Before he took over they only made back to back bowl trips once in program history.
The guy can coach. He wouldn't be my first choice, but it's not hard to get why some people would want him. -

Skyhook79I hope OSU fans realize if Urban Meyer is the next Head Coach that Gibby will most likely be joining your fanbase.

Just another reason to go in another direction for our next coach.Skyhook79;976473 wrote:I hope OSU fans realize if Urban Meyer is the next Head Coach that Gibby will most likely be joining your fanbase. -

I think Fitzgerald is a good coach, but he's happy where he's at.wkfan;976287 wrote:Voted 'Other'.

sleeperHonestly, let's bring back Tressel. Coaches have been re-hired from breaking bigger NCAA rules than him.
-
that_guyIf I can pick anybody and not worry at all about being realistic, then my list is:
1) Jim Tressel
Since that's a pipe dream and will not happen (and he'll likely get the show-cause penalty anyway), my realistic list is:
1) Urban
2) Gruden
3) Dantonio/Pelini/Fickell/Toledo's Coach (None of these guys excite me, but I'd prefer guys with Ohio ties over coaches without) -
Fly4FunI voted other.
I still am on the fence about Urban. I do not want Fickell back.
Ideally I want the University to do a thorough coaching search and hire who they think is best for the job. -
that_guy
I kind of agree with that, with one caveat, I do not want Gene Smith anywhere near a coaching search. I'd be much more confidant in a full scale coaching search if Andy Geiger was still running things.Fly4Fun;976763 wrote: Ideally I want the University to do a thorough coaching search and hire who they think is best for the job. -

I agree... hire him as a consultant imo.that_guy;976779 wrote:I kind of agree with that, with one caveat, I do not want Gene Smith anywhere near a coaching search. I'd be much more confidant in a full scale coaching search if Andy Geiger was still running things. -
karen lotz@realfreemancbs: Scout.com is reporting Urban Meyer has agreed to coach OSU for 7 years, $35 million. If true, whoa.

That was just a rumor that was based off an insider post from a very reliable insider who has been right many times before.karen lotz;976951 wrote:@realfreemancbs: Scout.com is reporting Urban Meyer has agreed to coach OSU for 7 years, $35 million. If true, whoa.
