Seriously?? If that extra point isn't blocked, and we stop them, we are all talking about how clutch braxton is. Such a moronic comment. -
FiradI predict Ohio State is going to play Ohio University in the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl! Go Bobcats

zach24ozAre you freaking serious? Why would you even consider to play Guiton? Miller just about led another Game Winning drive if the XP team didnt F it up. He made plays when he had to and he is just a freaking freshman...He is the best option right now and you play him out the rest of the year and let get better going into next year with a much better offensive scheme to help him.

Miller is a true freshman....and as a passer he is probably the worst in college foorball. OSU ranks only ahead of Army and Navy in the entire NCAA. Any other questions?DeyDurkie5;969704 wrote:Seriously?? If that extra point isn't blocked, and we stop them, we are all talking about how clutch braxton is. Such a moronic comment. -

exactly. let's get rid of john simon too since he couldn't stop them for the last play of the game.Footwedge;969718 wrote:Miller is a true freshman -

Obviously, Fickell agrees with you that Miller is the best choice. With that said, this team has 4 losses...and most of the blame goes to their God awful passing attack.zach24oz;969708 wrote:Are you freaking serious? Why would you even consider to play Guiton? Looky up above...I said that hopefully he will get better in a year or 2. Right now, he's pretty bad. -

I agree with this. However, passing attack is not all on the QB. It is so bad because the line can't block, the WR can't run routes and barely catch, and the play calls are horrible. But you are right lets bench the freshman QB with amazing potentional.Footwedge;969721 wrote:Obviously, Fickell agrees with you that Miller is the best choice. Hard to pass successfully when your offensive coordinator puts you in third and long most of the time. Also, when the defense knows what plays you'll run, and knows you won't run screens or misdirection, they can take more chances.Scarlet_Fever;969728 wrote:I agree with this. Today's loss was a Bollman Special all around. In the first half, it was perhaps his worst called game of the year (that takes some doing). Also, the depth on the OL is atrocious, and OSU had to start a true freshman at RT today because of Bollman's inept recruiting style that leaves few options if someone gets hurt.
Now, you've got a defense that can tee off on your QB because of the play calls, a line that can't block because of no depth, and you wonder why receivers aren't available to catch the ball most of the time?
This team has had some hard luck with injuries that are now killing it, but lack of preparedness and predictability don't put the players we have in a position to succeed, either.
And that's all on the coaches.
I will stand and applaud when this staff is fired at the end of the year. -

vball10setThis loss goes on the entire coaching staff, with Luke Fickell at the forefront...horrible play calling, defense was not prepared for whatever Purdue chose to do, and the special teams were atrocious. There seemed to be no game plan, either offensively or defensively, and IMO, the ONLY bright spot was Ryan Shazier.
And how in the fuck can you get an extra point blocked, especially when it's potentially a game winner? usually it can be chalked up to lack of concentration, but in this case, it was more of a blocking assignment snafu...again, COACHING!!!! -
jordo212000We need to do what more and more schools are doing and fire the head coach after the final game of the season. Then you put out some feelers to Meyer and see what happens. Ideally you get him hired before the bowl game and best case scenario he is out there coaching them (ala Brian Kelly when he took over Cincy).
disclaimer: there is no chance in Hades that this happens. -

Unfortunately, you are correct, but fortunately for THE OSU, they've already been in contact with UM before the season even began and have him locked up...foresight is a good thingjordo212000;969766 wrote:We need to do what more and more schools are doing and fire the head coach after the final game of the season. 2 things. One....I said "passing attack"..not just the quarterback. 2 I never, ever said bench the quarterback. Same old "put words in my mouth". I trust Fickell's judgement in thinking Miller gives this team it's best chance.Scarlet_Fever;969728 wrote:I agree with this. However, passing attack is not all on the QB. yeah the biggest reason Fickell will remain is that they are running out of coaches. Who becomes the head coach after Fickell during the bowl game? Heacock? Bollman?vball10set;969768 wrote:Unfortunately, you are correct, but fortunately for THE OSU, they've already been in contact with UM before the season even began and have him locked up...foresight is a good thing

That assures he'll be around at least through the bowl game.
What is plan B if Meyer turns us down? -

I hope you realize my post was tongue in cheek, because I don't think any coach should be fired mid-season, unless it's for something unrelated to wins and losses.jordo212000;969778 wrote:yeah the biggest reason Fickell will remain is that they are running out of coaches. my plan B? I have none, because IMO, plan A's a slam dunk -

The few times that Ohio State has run play action on first down, Miller has been able to do nothing. So how exactly is it the offensive coordinator's fault? The team can't throw the ball, period...whether it's first down, second or third.Writerbuckeye;969750 wrote:Hard to pass successfully when your offensive coordinator puts you in third and long most of the time. This team lost 6 starters because of scandal. They are playing a true freshman at quarterback and it shows. Their wide receivers are as bad as the Browns wide outs. When you have no passing attack at all, your game plan will always appear to stink.
I don't think Fickell should stay either. But with that said, I don't think this team would have done any better with the vest coaching this year, IMO. -

Peterson is a good coach, but has no link at all to the midwest. That being said, I would not be terribly upset if we hired himhoops23;969780 wrote:Chris Peterson, hopefully. -
WriterbuckeyeNot sure who would be Plan B, but Peterson isn't going to leave Idaho and I'm not sure he'd work at OSU, simply because he doesn't have a clue about the Midwest and recruiting, does he?
One name I haven't seen mentioned is Mel Tucker. He was a good recruiter at OSU when he was there, and a part of some great defenses as well. So long has he brought in a really good offensive coordinator, it might work. If not him...I honestly don't know, because I think most of the Ohio-related coaches are in situations they won't leave (like Stoops). -
vball10setTHE OSU will hire an experienced coach with Ohio ties, both coaching and familial...narrows the scope, doesn't it?
