Add weight? lol....you wanted him to go over 300?

He still had some baby fat last year. Cutting that and adding muscle will only help his game. I look for him to be even quicker in the post.....dude is gonna straight up dominate. I can't wait!

He said in an interview that he drove the lane and dunked for the first time in like 5 years

I personally felt that he should have added weight. Will be interesting to see the more versatile Sullinger.
Why would you add weight when you are most likely going to be playing the 4 and not the 5 in most games? It's a position that requires more quickness and agility; something you do not get by packing on more pounds.

The increased mobility of Sullinger is going to be a matchup nightmare for most teams. Most 4s do not have the combination of size and quickness that he will represent.

As for starting lineup: don't be surprised if Matta eventually goes with Scott at PG, with Craft at the 2. This will provide another matchup nightmare for teams, if what Matta is saying about Scott's ability to defend and pressure the ball is true. Both he and Craft will be like a two-man press, even in half court.

Then your lineup would include Buford, Sullinger and Williams, with Thomas coming off the bench to provide a burst of scoring. Ultimately, the minutes will pretty much even out among the top 6 or 7, with Sibert and Ravenal providing the additional depth. This all assumes Ross won't regain his eligibility. If he does, he will also be a factor in the rotation.

With all this so called "talent" I'm interested to see how Matta addresses the rotation. I'll be surprised if he goes deeper than 8 regularly, but he could earlier in the season to test the lineups and how they work together.

Deeper into the season I think we'll see the normal 7 man rotation. Thoughts?

I wonder if you're going to turn coat and cease to be a "fan" if the bucks lose to Wisc this yr. since you did the same with the Cavs and Browns.

I mean, that's what Matta does, so I don't see it being any different. If the talent depth is that great, I think we see a deeper bench in loose situations, but his standard 7 man bench in tight situations

Sullinger minus the baby fat, he may be a leaner more polished version of Sean May.
It took May three years to get his weight down, Sullinger seems a bit more motivated.

Who's ready to banter about Aaron Craft's lateral quickness?

You mean Aaron Craft the "scrappy" smartest player to ever play the game?

I'd love to see a lineup where we have Craft and Scott starting, with Sully, Bu, and Williams starting. I still want Thomas to come off the bench. Something about him still scares me/makes me nervous. He's not very bright. Getting my season tickets Saturday! Can't wait. They included Florida and Duke in the student season package. Pumped!

By getting more tone and bulking up in his chest and shoulders he would have gained weight. His biggest strength is his understanding of positioning. He's never going to be very athletic and will struggle in the NBA at the 4. He's a 5 at the next level and he would be most effective by adding muscle to create position with his upper body.

The only game last year where he struggled was against Harrelson, and that's because he matched his strength and understood positioning.

Will losing weight make him more effective in college? I don't think so.

Will losing weight make him more effective in the pros? No, it makes him less effective.
  • Automatik
lol....are you just taking the opposite stance for the hell of it?

Sorry but I'd have to disagree. I don't see how cutting that baby fat would hurt his game....that laughable.

How do you know that that losing the weight would make him "less effective" in the pros? You don't.

Maybe you should call Matta and let him know that you don't agree with how his carrying out the conditioning of Sullinger. I'm sure he'll take your thoughts into consideration.

The opposite? I've always said Sullinger needed to get stronger in his upper body.

I didn't say he needed to keep fat, I said he should gain weight. There's a difference. He plays flat footed and by being stronger in his upper body and shoulders will make him even more effective.

The guys a stud and will dominate college his year. Sorry for having an opinion.

    And you're entitled to that.

He dropped 30 pounds. I highly doubt that was all muscle....like I said, baby fat.

He's only 19 and was even bigger/softer in high school. I'm pretty sure he's also doing a fair amount of lifting for his upper body. Just because he dropped weight doesn't mean he lost strength.

I agree with that. He is without a doubt in better shape. But usually the offseason after ones freshman year in college is when guys really start to pack on the muscle.

I've seen him in person up close and it was surprising how thin he was in his upper body.

Obviously this discussion is more for his pro potential. I'll be surprised if he doesn't win the Naismath this year.

I think we are going to see the much more versatile Sullinger this year. Most people fail to realize that he has and excellent mid range game and is a good 3 point shooter. Also he handles it very well for someone his size and passes extremely well too. We won't just see him on the block like last year.

That why I think he will be a 4 in the NBA. He can face up and has a solid midrange shot. I remember seeing a bit of it when he was in high school, but hardly any last year.

He'll absolutely be a 4 in the NBA, which is why he wanted to trim down and improve his mid-range game. There hasn't been one report(other the Dynasty) that says Sully will ever be a 5 in the NBA.

Look at the 5's in the NBA. Then look at the 4's. Now tell me he will play the 4.

Offensively he can step out and handle the ball. But so could Tim Duncan (please don't try telling me he's a 4). He will be a combo big, but there are few guys in the NBA with as good of back to the basket games as him.

Dont tell you hes a 4? He is only considered the best or 2nd best Power Forward of all time? lol

Dude is a 4, you cant just name a player for an argument and then tell us to ignore the position he plays.

So, the guy considered the greatest POWER FORWARD in NBA history is a 5, not a 4?? Wow.

    FWIW..

Duncan is a 4. That's where Sully will be in the NBA. What is he, 6'8'' at the most? He is definitly a tweener. That doesn't mean he can be a good NBA player: see Al Horford and Kevin Love.

LOL @ FAILNASTY telling people to not consider Duncan a 4. SMH.

Sullinger will be a 4. He was recruited as a 4 @ OSU, but played the 5 because we had no other real low post threat. He will be able to play his natural position much more this season, with the ability to show his mid-range game.

Anyway, I'm not sure if it's been posted yet, but Mark Titus wrote a piece on Grantland.com (Bill Simmons' website) on why OSU will win it all. Upon reading through it, I came across this gem:
Williams won't be the defensive force that Lauderdale was, but he'll make up for it by being much more refined offensively than Lauderdale, and with Sullinger he promises to give Ohio State multiple low-post threats for the first time since Greg Oden and his penis were an unstoppable 1-2 punch in 2007.
And here's the link to the full article:

Duncan is widely considered a 4, but I've never really understood that. He's played the 5 most of his career. Even with Robinson he guarded the other teams 5 because Robinson was more athletic.

Al Horford and Kevin Love are both 5 men. People fail to see how the NBA has changed. There are very few traditional 5 men. They can all step out now and can move.

Normally I don't think your post are as bad as others make them out to be but this is just flat out hilarious. As other have said Ducan is at worst the 2nd best Power Forward of all time. He is a 4 and I really love to know what makes you think otherwise. And just because he guarded other teams 5's doesn't make him a 5 as well it's just another reason hes one of the best PF's of all time.

I bet dynasty thinks Dirk is a 5 as well.
