bradmaynardWoah! Those Pitt fans must be foaming at the mouth after this one! I bet all the players are using this as motivation for tomorrow!
-
justincredibleHe didn't throw in an "eat shit, Pitt!" for good measure? I am disappoint.
-
ts1227What a dumbass. Staying an independent in football while being in the BE for everything else sort of falls under "protecting ones own interest" as well.
-
sleeperND will do anything but win football games to stay relevant in college football. It's really sad.
-
karen lotzI'm disappointed that I gave that guy a page click.

that the Big East is butthurt that ND wouldn't join for football? If the relationship between ND and the Big East is so bad for the conference, why don't they say either join for football or take your other sports elsewhere?
A couple of other things. It is "you're" not "your" and also, have you ever said which team you are a fan of or are you still afraid? -
Crimson streakLol what a terrible article

killer_ewokNot sure I'd refer to that as being "blasted." I think Cook makes a good point or two but it's not as big of a deal as he makes it out to be IMO. Lots of this going around with the conference jumping that's going on and conference commissioners and school A.D.'s voicing their displeasure with some of it.
Hell, WVU is more pissed at Pitt about this than most others are from what I've heard. Enjoy the Backyard Brawl this season because from the sounds of it...there's a pretty good chance it's the last time we'll see WVU vs. Pitt on the gridiron. -
krambmanNotre Dame was the first school to break away from the NCAA's control and sign their own TV deal.
Notre Dame joined a conference for everything but football because that is what would make them the most money.
Notre Dame claims independence as one of their key principles.
The athletic director at that school has no right to call out another for looking out for themselves with little regard for others. They showed no concern for other institutions when they signed their own TV contract, breaking away from a system where everyone got relatively equal money and relatively equal television exposure. They show no concern for their fellow Big East members when they cost them money by remaining independent in football instead of joining the conference for every sport. They show no collegiality by remaining fiercely independent. No school has been more selfish and showed less regard for others over the years than Notre Dame. -

And as we see now....they're all the same. All of the schools are out for self. ND was ahead of the curve but now the schools that see they can get away with their own networks, independence, etc. are doing it. -

Oh, absolutely. Big money chooler football exists because of what Notre Dame did 30 years ago. Without ND's NBC deal we never have the BTN. Honestly I don't see anything wrong with what any of theses schools have done during realignment because they are each looking out for themselves. ND is just concerned because they fear what might happen to the Big East or that they may end up being forced to join a conference for football. It's just comical that their AD would criticize other schools for doing what they've been doing for decades. -
Tobias FünkeSince Notre Dame would make more money in a conference for football, isn't that argument pretty moot now? I also don't remember other schools losing money when Notre Dame opted out of the FCA agreement. And leaving a conference is a much, much different scenario than not joining a conference.

The Big Ten and maybe the SEC are the only conferences where they would make more TV than they would staying an independent in football. In any other conference they would make less.Tobias Fünke;908391 wrote:Since Notre Dame would make more money in a conference for football, isn't that argument pretty moot now? ND signing their own TV contract didn't cost anyone money. As I pointed out, everyone has benefited from that. But when they did sign that contract, they weren't concerned with collegiality or whether or not other schools would benefit from it. They made the decision only concerned with increasing their revenue and their exposure.
While leaving a conference may be different than not joining one, the point remains the same. Swarbrick was criticizing Pitt and Syracuse because they acted selfishly, only being concerned with what would benefit them with no regard for how it might affect others. Notre Dame has made the decision to sign their own TV deal and to stay independent in football while joining a conference for everything else for the exact same reasons. -

You're either trolling or you actually care what ADs say. I'm not sure which is worse.KnightRyder;908834 wrote:and another thing dumb azz i started this thread so how is that trolling. -

Why doesn't the Big East force ND's hand then? They are benefiting from the current set up too.krambman;909211 wrote:The Big Ten and maybe the SEC are the only conferences where they would make more TV than they would staying an independent in football. In any other conference they would make less.
