Notre Dame beats Pitt 15-12

CC called Pitt by 21. ND and Pitt combined barely hit that total.

    What a douchebag.

Who would you go with in that situation. I mean you were pumped for his start prior to the Michigan game given the half Crist had against South Florida. One thing ND can't do is start a quarterback shuffle nearing the halfway point in the season, especially when you have all these turnovers piling up every game.

I dunno, but Rees has had some AWFUL turnovers and this goes back to last year. Goes back to his first throw against Michigan last year actually. He is supposed to be smart and take care of the ball and he has done anything but that.

I hear ya. It was one of those situations where a change seemed almost inevitable though. That's why I gave Kelly credit.

    Me too.

Offense struggled most of the game but give Rees credit for stepping up and going 8-8 on the last drive.

It's nice to finally have a defense make plays when we need them. It has been a long time.

Pitt had a very nice game plan. Take the road win and move on. I'm not going to worry about this one too much. 2-2 sounds a hell of a lot better than 1-3.

The turnovers weren't even what got me this game. Rees literally pissed down his leg and I've never seen him do that. I don't know if it was something he got from the sidelines or what, but he refused to check off his first option. He literally followed it through its entire progression and everybody on defense knew exactly where the ball would be going. Also he never found a rhythm for getting the ball to Floyd, who is the most important player on their team. As much as was made of double coverage this game was no different than the last three for defensive assignments on the guy and Rees refused to take a chance, or even check down and look his way for the majority of the game.

Rees definitely has a tendency to stare down the receiver. They've got to work with him on that.

LOL. Not used to seeing that after a win.

But whatever floats your boat, I guess...

a poor win. ND should've won by 20 with the way Pitt played.

ND should be 4-0 instead of 2-2.

I wouldn't be shocked to see them lose four or five more games this season.

It's really mind boggling to me why people think BK is a good coach. He's no different than Mike Leach: an offensive mastermind. All Cinci was able to do was outscore their opponents...their defenses were mediocre at best.

Now he doesn't even have a great offense. His scheme is doomed to fail.

Lol this guy^^^ ok you can say he's an offensive mastermind but yet Notre dames defense is the strength of the team? And some of it is on Brian Kelly but he can't be at fault for all of the stupid ass turnovers. If Notre dame takes care of the ball they are talented enough to beat any team in the country. But that's like telling water not to be wet

I actually look at it as Notre Dame has lost two games that they should have won, and won this game that they probably should have lost.

There's no denying that the offense just wasn't clicking yesterday. The OLine played shaky, Tommy is still turning the ball over far too much and staring down receivers, and guys like TJ Jones and Theo Riddick need to step up (just like Eifert did). But to say he doesn't have a great offense based on ONE game where they looked out of sync is beyond dumb. Yes, they have a problem with turnovers. But if Tommy Rees can hold on to the ball...they would be considered one of the top offenses.

And to say the defense isn't good means you aren't watching. The secondary has issues. But I would put ND's front 7 up there with one of the toughest in the NCAA. With the turnovers, and a sputtering offense, the defense was able to still hold Pitt to only one offensive touchdown (and stop the 2 point conversion after doing it).

Care to make an avatar bet on ND losing 4 or 5 more games this year? There is no way this team finishes 6-6, or even 5-7...even with all the turnovers.

No, because avatar bets are stupid.

    ND's front 7 with the NCAA's best...that's funny.
  • karen lotz
dlazz, how much of the first 4 Notre Dame games have you watched? Plz bee honest

OK then. If Notre Dame loses 4 more games (finishes 6-6 or worse) I'll never post on the college football forum again. If Notre Dame finishes 7-5 or better, you never post on the college football forum again.

    A few things:

Notre Dame's front seven has done nothing short of domination against each of their opponents' offensive lines. Notre Dame's front seven is among the 5-10 best in the country. Please name me ten teams with better front sevens.

I don't get how you can rip this offense when, as poorly as it's played, they have put up 508, 513, 275, and 398 yards. Then 20, 28, 18, and 23 first downs in those games.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you haven't watched a god damn down on Notre Dame football this season. This team has issues (quarterback play, pass defense, and short-yardage running) but you aren't even mentioning those.
