Litttle Sisters of the Poor???

Dr Winston O'BoogieSo Gordon Gee calls Boise State out last year for playing "Little Sisters of the Poor". Never mind that he doesn't know jack about football and probably hasn't done an athletic thing in his life. Yesterday, THE Ohio State played what was probably one of the worst division I schools in the country while Boise State puts a beating oGeorgia - a SEC big school. Nice call Gee. Better hope Boise doesn't get ahold of your team.
He also refers to Lex Wexner as the 6th "civilian" to ever dot the i. So I guess as Americans (in Gee's book at least), we shoul be grateful to the Army,Nave, Air Force, Marines, and the tuba section. -

stroupsGot this gem from the carpet shopping thread
Not saying carpet shopping is the answer. But I say "f-you" to Ohio State and all these other big schools that schedule pansy games like Akron and expect full price for attendees. Bush league. -

Saving this for use next week on the ND thread. Thanks for posting. -
Dr Winston O'BoogieOkay, if Gee said it about TCU, I was technically wrong. However his point was intended towards the legitimate "BCS busters" which included Boise State. I am an OSU alum and I've always loved my school. I guess I'm just a little cynical about the football program in lit of Gee's leadership thisyear. And I don't forget about it just because they brought out the sacraficial lamb yesterday and had money bags dot the I. It just made me think about $75 per ticket to watch garbage.

No, you aren't. An OSU Alum wouldn't sound that stupid, and would be a more successful troll.Dr Winston O'Boogie;883309 wrote:I am an OSU alum -
Mortgagestar1Until The Big 10 ( OSU particularly ) agree to a playoff system, we will see this laughable early season schedules for years to come.

Lol you would see ZERO big time OOC games with a playoff system. What a stupid comment.Mortgagestar1;883313 wrote:Until The Big 10 ( OSU particularly ) agree to a playoff system, we will see this laughable early season schedules for years to come. -

I am. You may not agree with my opinion as is your right. But I don't believe it to be stupid. If I understand correctly what a troll is, I assure you that I wouldn't put the time to become one.dlazz;883312 wrote:No, you aren't. Gee was talking about the conference schedule, you know, the part that makes up 2/3 of the season...not just one game out of 12? So, if Boise were to say, move on from playing Georgia this week to some combination of Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Miss State, Florida, South Carolina, etc. for seven more consecutive weeks you might have a point.Dr Winston O'Boogie;883257 wrote:So Gordon Gee calls Boise State out last year for playing "Little Sisters of the Poor". They can only play the teams that are in their conference. When they have the chance, they schedule big teams. My original point is that Gee looks stupid when his school engages in the same scheduling shenanigans all the big schools use. Gee has weight with the NCAA as a major school president. He's part of the problem. And formone day, at least, he looks like a fool.enigmaax;883332 wrote:Gee was talking about the conference schedule, you know, the part that makes up 2/3 of the season...not just one game out of 12? If the Browns/Steelers/Bengals scheduled college teams for the first 3-4 games a year, I'd vent on the NFL too. However from a competition perspective, I get my value there. -

False. They had a chance to schedule Nebraska and didn't do so.Dr Winston O'Boogie;883340 wrote:They can only play the teams that are in their conference. When they have the chance, they schedule big teams. -

Covered on another thread, but you are wrong. BYU just went independent. Notre Dame is independent. They could play whoever they want if they were independent. Outside of that, they have four chances to play "somebody" and they typically only choose ONE "somebody".Dr Winston O'Boogie;883340 wrote:They can only play the teams that are in their conference.
Part of what problem? Again, you are inaccurate by saying Gee enagages in the same "shenanigans". Gee's point was that there is a discrepancy in quality of opponents between what we know as AQ conferences and Boise State's conference. If you don't see that difference, please explain why teams from Gee's type of conference win 75-80% of the games against teams from Boise State's type of conference. The difference is that Gee's team plays 3 of those lower level teams in a year and Boise plays 10 or 11. That is not even close to the same type of scheduling.Dr Winston O'Boogie;883340 wrote: My original point is that Gee looks stupid when his school engages in the same scheduling shenanigans all the big schools use. How many tickets did OSU sell? I mean, you can personally choose whether to spend the money or not, but if those tickets were above a reasonable market value you wouldn't have full houses all over the country for that type of game. But take some heart, the fact that you pay that money enables Ohio State (and similar teams) to help fund the Akron (and similar schools) athletic department by paying handsomely for coming to the slaughter.Dr Winston O'Boogie;883340 wrote:If the Browns/Steelers/Bengals scheduled college teams for the first 3-4 games a year, I'd vent on the NFL too. Except when TCU pussed out and backed out of a game with OSU just a few years ago.Dr Winston O'Boogie;883340 wrote:They can only play the teams that are in their conference. When they have the chance, they schedule big teams. -

If you think OSU fears Boise you are nuts, we would beat them this year just like any other year, tough sledding against that 6-7 Georgia team from a year ago and that is there toughest game of the year lol.Dr Winston O'Boogie;883257 wrote:So Gordon Gee calls Boise State out last year for playing "Little Sisters of the Poor". Hb31187This whole Boise/TCU ect thign is never gonna be done being argued on here is it lol? Boise continues to beat AQ teams and get no respect bc of their "body of work". Whether they play in a tough conference or not...when the big schools get matched up with them, more times than not the big schools get beat.
