On Urban Meyer
-
WebFireGot this from a pay site. Take what you want from it, I just found it interesting coming from someone who coached with Meyer.
From a coach who coached with Urban Meyer: Mark my word, unless Fickell pulls a miracle this season, Urban Meyer will be the next coach at Ohio State. Once he is named head coach he will probably pull in a couple of the kids who are committed to Michigan. Health issues? They won’t play a role. That’s not why he left Florida. He left Florida because he knew it was time. Last year he had all of the kids he recruited for the first time and look at how poorly they performed. He does not like recruiting and the evaluation process involved with it and tends to recruit the five and four stars off lists. That is a dangerous proposition. He does a better job going into a program with another coach’s recruits. Just look at how long he stayed at Bowling Green, Utah and now Florida. Get out while the iron is still hot. He will recruit great, at least on paper, at Ohio State, but after four or five years…….. -
bases_loadedWhat if he retains fickell for recruiting....win-win

This only reinforces my belief that OSU should stay away from Urban Meyer. Fickell should be given 3 years to show what he can do.WebFire;863845 wrote:Got this from a pay site. Take what you want from it, I just found it interesting coming from someone who coached with Meyer. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeBring on Meyer. #IWantHim [as our Coach]

queencitybuckeyeThe next coach needs to be beyond a hint of ethical trouble. That is clearly not this slime mold.

There are NO head football coaches in college football that do no break the rules. -
SpeedofsandLosing Strong, Mullen and other key assistants changed things more than Meyer recruiting. There were plenty of Meyer recruits on the '08 team. His last year was poor because the Dazzler was in charge until after the 3rd loss. It always seems UF has more 4 & 5 star guys who flop in college or transfer out. Meyer kicked a 4* WR freshman off the team last year mid-season for not going to class and showing attitude.

That would be right in line with this guy saying Meyer recruits off a list.Speedofsand;864032 wrote:Losing Strong, Mullen and other key assistants changed things more than Meyer recruiting. The fact you would go search to find that picture is kind of troubling -

agreed, just say that top schools get the blue chip players. Position coaches and the 'recruiting coordinator' do a lot of the recruiting. You have 20-25 choices to make out of all the nation's top prep players, the offers going out earlier every year, lots of young talent being judged before its time. I've seen so many kids develop in the senior year, only to be already left out of the 4* list because they didn't go to a particular camp or get hyped. Those kids never seem to get a fair shot. Big time college programs have to keep up with each other, so it goes on. -
