ESPN The Worldwide Leader in Selectively Vacating Wins

I'm pretty convinced a lot of this is because of the financial rivalry of the Big Ten Network, and the potential threat it remains especially as TV contracts come up for renewal in the years ahead.
great point....as with everything else regarding big time sports, it's all about the $$$$

I never said it was a big deal to me..I said it was a big deal, period. Not to me. I'ts not like I'm losing sleep over the fact that USC's season is there and OSU's isn't. Dear God, how is that so hard to comprehend?
If it's not a big deal to you, then why did you say it was a "BIG DEAL" and not direct that statement towards other people?

Because you failed to include that it was a "BIG DEAL" to other people, you stating "BIG DEAL" directly implies that it is you who considers it a big deal.

Sorry S&L you have no chance of winning this argument. I posted your 2 contradictory statements (it's a BIG DEAL, and then saying no one cares), and now you're trying to save face, and in doing so look even more pathetic.

Just admit you care and move on, the only people who care that you care are Webbie and Lotz and it's pretty obvious you don't give a damn what either of them have to say.

Writer, while I still won't say that ESPN has a bias, IF they do, the reasons you posted make a lot of sense.

I would agree with this. IF there is any reason to think there is bias, this would be it.

The NCAA itself is corrupt. The bowls in lieu of a legitimate playoff system can NOT be refuted!

    OMG dude, you are R.E.T.A.R.D.E.D.

You seriously made it into law school? Are you just really good at standardized tests or what?

I can imply something to the general public. "It's a big deal that ESPN has incorrect facts on their website" <---you seriously got from that, that it is a big deal to me?!?!?! You are SPINNING. S.P.I.N.N.I.N.G something into my own words, and it's incredibly annoying..I have stated numerous times it doesn't matter to me, why do you keep saying it is a big deal to me???

I don't care that he cares that I care that he cares. My only point is that he is talking out of both sides of his mouth again, and calling me and Web out for being douches or idiots or whatever.

Can you go back and tear apart my retarded post from last night now? Tell me how that wasn't talking out of both sides of your mouth or how I was putting words in your mouth.

ESPN's customer service repsonse is terrible. I keep going back and forth with them providing the "inaccurate information listed" and they keep emailing back asking for the same thing over and over. I sent a message just to see what hte response would be and it has turned into a nightmare lol

That doesn't really accomplish anything. The point is that ESPN is so big and powerful that they can do whatever the fuck they want. You can bitch and moan about how they hate your school, but it really doesn't matter because you will still contribute to their pocket book. If you guys are all really that concerned, why not boycott ESPN completely?

enigmaax;842815 wrote:Didn't read this whole thread but have one thought and one question. OSU fans, you are right. ESPN hates Ohio State. We agree on that. Since we know that is the case, are you guys going to: a) keep watching ESPN, but continue to try and prove the point you already know in your own mind or b) quit watching ESPN?
enigmaax;843088 wrote:That doesn't really accomplish anything. The point is that ESPN is so big and powerful that they can do whatever the **** they want. I'll watch live sporting events, but nothing else. And I do it not to make a statement, but because I have better things to do with my time. Every single Buckeye fan could boycott ESPN forever, but they'll still be big and powerful and do whatever they want. But it's not ridiculous for passionate fans to point out their hypocrisies and inconsistencies.

If you can just admit that I do not care personally about the situation, it would go a long way. You're trying to tell me it's a big deal to me, when that's simply not true. You can keep trying to say it's true, but you're wrong..and until you just say "okay, you don't care personally that USC's season is listed and OSU's is not" I will continue to disagree with you.

What's the point? You would disagree..mock me in some dumb/non-funny way (i.e. put "bro" in your post somewhere...although I have no idea where that started)..and we would continue to go back and forth. lets drop it and continue to ignore each other. At least taht's what I'm going to do.

Why don't people that live closer to a non-OSU college root for them instead of the Buckeyes? I don't understand what you are getting at.

How do you fail to see the logic.

Your original premise is that because you live in Ohio you should be on an Ohio message board. Shouldn't you also support an Ohio team because you live in Ohio? That would only make sense... but too bad there is an inconsistency in your logic.

You live in Ohio, but grew up a UM fan because you had relatives that attended UM? That's weak. You're one of those Ohio kids that grew up either rooted for UM because they were on top at the moment (bandwagoner) or because you like being a contrarian and go against the grain. I'm thinking it's the latter because not only are you a UM fan in Ohio, constantly on an Ohio based message board. But you also are ALL OVER OSU topics more so than worrying about posting about your team.

Oh ya, something else about the latter... pretty much means you're a troll. You'd prefer to just Troll OSU threads and fans than post about Michigan. Want to prove me wrong? Stay off OSU threads for the most part.

That was when it first became clear ESPiN had a clear anti-OSU agenda...and it has carried it on to this day. I do believe it even got worse during this investigation, however, as more columnists chimed in with their rants about punishing Ohio State, even though most of them had no clue what the actual allegations were, and certainly had no clue what proof existed.

I'm pretty convinced a lot of this is because of the financial rivalry of the Big Ten Network, and the potential threat it remains especially as TV contracts come up for renewal in the years ahead. If ESPN can help hurt the image of the league's flagship program, perhaps it can hurt ratings and the ability of the BTN to show games (if OSU gets a ban, for instance).

Yes, ESPN also has a contract to show Big Ten games, but they have more money invested in the future in other areas that will be competing directly with the Big Ten (like the SEC network, Texas, etc.)

So, you can't discount the impact money and business angling no doubt plays in all the crap that ESPN has been throwing out there since the investigation first came to light.
IMO, money is what it has always been about, and it's not just a bias against OSU, it's a bias against the Big Ten in general. Hell, the minor(in my mind) infractions that were levied against RichRod, got more time on ESPN than the LSU/Oregon/Ga.Tech infractions combined. The BTN has improved it's coverage and programming since its inception, and that is a real threat to ESPN.

No. By my logic, I would visit Michigan football message boards. Which I do. Visiting an Ohio message board because I live in Ohio has nothing to do with what team I should root for. Your argument is downright retarded.

Fail. I grew up a Michigan fan because I like the Michigan Wolverines. And I started liking them before Cooper and Carr came along, so it had nothing to do with who was on top. But you wouldn't know that because you didn't ask. And I am "ALL OVER OSU" because that is the most discussed topic here. And I discuss. I rarely troll. No more than any other OSU fan here. Fact is, many posters don't have the ability to have OSU discussion fans with Michigan fans. You appear to one of them.

Discussing and trolling are two different things. You haven't figured out the difference. Too bad for you. Why don't you go cry about it some more?

By the way Fly, where you from? I bet 90% of the OSU fans here have a college closer to them than Columbus. So are they bandwagon fans for being Bucks fans and not Flyer fans? Or Bobcat fans. Or Zip fans?

Sure it does. It makes me feel better to ignore 99.9 percent of their inane programming.

And boycotts almost never work, so why waste the time.

If ESPiN is relying on me for their bottom line, then they are a major fail already.
