Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney running back and cornerback Braylon Heard committed to West Virginia in the summer. However, the Bucks showed up at Mooney on Thursday and it looks like Heard is going to make an official visit to Ohio State.
Personally we have Corey Brown Carlos Hyde and Rod Smith coming in that makes 8 scholariship RBs if you count Brown. I don't know how OSU would even have enough scholarships to go around. I wouldn't mind having him, but he wouldn't see the field for 2 or 3 years.

Maybe somone is transferring or a position change.

I don't see him as a running back. A WR or DB would be a better fit with his speed.

Look for Nebraska and Bo Pelini to make a strong push for Heard too. Mooney connection there. After the postseason that Heard had.....it's not surprising that he opened his recruitment back up.

    This.

Bo is VERY high on Heard. I wouldn't doubt that he makes a trip out there soon as well.

Bo has 5 DE's commited (just thought that was interesting) and 0 Running backs... FYI.

I think he'll end up at Nebraska. OSU just has too many RBs and supposedly Braylon loves Bo. And lets face it, Nebraska needs him more than OSU does therefore he'll make a bigger impact at Nebraska.

That'd be sweet if we got him. But with the logjam of backs we already have don't see it happening

I agree. Ohio State will be able to go 6 deep at HB next year.

    Boom
    Saine
    Berry
    Smith
    Hall
    Hyde

But, you can never have too many athletes. Hall or Heard could play DB or WR too.

Isn't WV planning on using him as a DB?
  • steel_curtain
NO WVU is planning on using him as a rb.
  • darbypitcher22
I don't think he'll end up as a Buckeye, but hey, you never know and one can always hope for it to happen. It would make spring ball and camp VERY interesting.
  • devil1197
I think OSU would utilize him as a DB if he decided OSU.

But its not out of the question for a young RB to come in and steal a spot. Herron and Saine are good but not great. If a RB like Smith comes in and proves his abilities he could take over (ie Clarett).

I would like to see him go somewhere he can get significant playing time and I just dont see him doing that at OSU. I think he will be a good fit at Nebraska

There are rumblings that Smith will not qualify, so remove him from your list. Hyde is also on the "if" list at the moment, although his prospects look better than Smith's do.

I don't believe in coincidences. With Smith possibly not making the grade, I think Ohio State is looking for someone to fill that slot and Heard was the logical choice. Don't bring up Howard (the two-time Mr. Ohio Football) because he has the same problem as Smith; poor academics.

I heard on Bruce Drennan's show that Tress was also looking @ Jerimah Goings from Cincinnati Winton Woods... he fits the big back mold... any truth to this?

That would add more fuel to the rumor that Smith isn't going to get into OSU.

I mean, not saying its true or not, just heard that Tress was supposed to be in Massillon for the D2 game on Friday night and taking him in...

Writer, Hyde has been approved and will be coming to OSU in Jan.

Yeah it looks like Hyde and Jamel Turner have both buckled down to get into OSU.

well looks like it makes Heard even less likely to be a Buckeye

    Why?

Yes, OSU is loaded at RB but no one knows what position OSU is looking at him for unless it has come out recently. OSU could use him as a DB also.

Whereever he goes I wish him the best of luck. He thrilled the Mooney Nation this year and next year he'll be doing it for someone at the college level. Best of luck Mr. Heard.

    He wants to play RB.

Also, he really likes Bo Pelini as a person, likes his fire and enthusiasm. I love Tressel but he can't really compete in that department (especially against Bo Pelini).

My sources also tell me he will make an official visit to Michigan.
