Pryor ineligible for supplemental draft?

So selling your own stuff and getting discount is worse than not going to class and failing out like the rb from georgia. Got it

And he can participate in preseason stuff including games.

Didn't know cars and bling and all the other perks went to feeding his family. Now I feel totally different about the situation. Let the young man play!

Sorry, I only saw the post where you repeated that he was eligible for the draft on Monday. Missed your original post about him being in the draft but suspended five games.

I wasn't disagreeing with the post above we just chimed in at the same time.

No doubt. If the NCAA is all about upholding the NCAA's penalties, those other guys should be draft-eligible but have to sit out the entire season (or at least 12 games - the number they wouldn't be playing in college).

+1. I'm not sure when the NFL decided that they were the defenders of "amateurism"

Isn't the NFL suspending him because they felt he was messing with the system for defining eligibility for this draft -- not because of what happened at OSU? I know it's lame in either case, but that's what I read on another board.

Goodell was just suffering from withdrawal since the lockout got in the way, he had to suspend someone for something just to get back in his groove.

Take what you will from this statement:

The league informed clubs that Pryor “made decisions that undermine the integrity of the eligibility rules for the NFL draft.” Among those, the league said, was his failure to cooperate with the NCAA and hiring of an agent in violation of NCAA rules.

So how the fuck did pete carroll get hired as a coach?

That's one of the most hypocritical things I have ever heard lol

On so many different levels too.

I absolutely despise OSU and Tpryor and even i think this is ridiculous. Goodell is terrible

I think the NFL is just protecting themselves from having other college players trying to get around the supplemental draft rules. If they let Pryor in because he signed with an agent, what is there to stop another guy who gets passed in spring ball on the depth chart for saying fuck it, I'm signing with an agent and going into the supplemental draft. I'd think it would also be easier to manipulate which team would take that player. If Andrew Luck didn't want to go to the Panthers, but still wanted to come out a year early, what's stopping him from waiting until after the draft and then hiring an agent? Carolina isn't taking another QB 4 months later. It would just set a bad precedent that the NFL wants to shut down.

How does a player trying to get into the supplemental draft hurt the NFL? If anything it hurts the player more than the NFL. Players from the supplemental draft rarely end up making anything of themselves. Its dumb to enforce a NCAA punnishment on a NFL player

I could be wrong but I always thought he bolted early so he didn't have to talk to the ncaa.

He did talk to the NCAA. He was never implicated in any of the allegations by the NCAA. He may have bolted because he knew they were gonna get smacked, but he was around for the NCAA investigation.

As Lotz described, it is much easier for a player to manipulate the team he's going to play for by staying out of the regular draft. The rules were changed to help prevent this because of what Bernie Kosar did.

The year he was going to come out early (1985), he had already stated he wanted to play for the Browns. But Minnesota traded up for the #2 pick so they could grab him. Buffalo had the 1st pick in both drafts, but wasn't going to take a QB. Somehow Cleveland worked out a trade with Buffalo for their 1986 1st Rd pick and through it all, Kosar was able to stay out of the regular draft and avoid Minnesota, while the Browns were in position to take him in the supplemental draft (can't remember if it was because Buffalo was picking #1, so that put Cleveland in that spot for the supplemental draft or if there was more to it). Cleveland had to give up its 1986 1st Round pick to get him, but nobody else really had a shot with the way it worked out. And the NFL doesn't want players using the supplemental draft to pick and choose a team to play for.
