Strange because OSU almost just comes right out and says "we made this shit up so TP could enter the draft." I don't think non-OSU fans are the only ones that raise an eyebrow to this.

Yes but they cooperated with the NCAA and are still with OSU. Small did pretty much the same thing as TP. He quit talking to the NCAA and hired an agent.

Didn't they do the same thing as TP with the tattoos?

yes, but from what I understand this was a move to facilitate Pryor's eligibility into the supplemental draft--this really wasn't meant as a punishment, per se
that's what doesn't make sense to me. They are doing this so he can get eligible for the draft, but the suspension is a punishment for what he did. What he did and what Posey and Herron did are basically the same, yet no suspension for them.

TP had a de facto suspension anyways though. There's no way he was coming anywhere close to Columbus for at least 5 yrs

Its not a punishment at all. Its a "Thank You TP" for not talking to the NCAA.

sure they did--they received a five game suspension

I don't think Ohio State is thanking TP for anything--they're taking the high road and helping him to clear any obstacles that may be in his way in his quest to get to the NFL...this is what a university with class does.

Why didn't Smith write the letter before Pryor announced he was leaving, if that was the reason for the 5 year ban? Why didn't Pryor say he was leaving school because he had been banned from OSU for 5 years? Smith banned Pryor from OSU yesterday, which is a rather large coincidence considering it just came out that the NFL could view Pryor ineligible for the supplemental draft because his status with the university hadn't changed when Pryor left.

Of course this was the reason he did it--I never said it wasn't. But for you say it was a "thank you blah, blah, blah" is just hate-based speculation on your part--period.

It isnt a coincidence at all. Pryor's attorney asked for the letter to help his case for the supplementel draft.

There would be no letter if he did not ask for it.

Just because it wasn't pubic doesn't mean he wasn't banned from the athletic program. You haters want it both ways, on one end you want OSU to release everything, but anytime they release something its some shady dealings that was only released to keep a player quiet.

Can't win with the haters, but we sure as hell are going to win on the field, while ND/Michigan will be at the bottom of the barrel(again).

I like how it's only haters in sleeper's eyes, but I've seen/heard many Buckeyes with the same questions/comments.

    You are the hater.

I said "I can see where opposing fans may not like it, but as an OSU fan, I think it was the smart thing to do." Never said the move didn't "raise an eyebrow." But it makes perfect sense. And it's obvious you (and other opposing fans) don't like it.

That's fine. I'm not going to pretend every Buckeye fan thinks the same. But to me it was a smart move. TP holds the trump card. Keep him happy.

That's cool. I agree with your statement.

John Clayton says Pryor is ineligible for Supplemental Draft. Hasn't been really reported wildly so not sure if it official or not.

    @ClaytonESPN John Clayton
There may not be a supplemental draft this year because Terrelle Pryor isn't eligible and they may not be any players to select
Terrelle Pryor is ineligible because the NCAA and Ohio State haven't formally ruled anything on him and that needs to happen for the draft
  • Pick6
^^ seen that as well. pretty sure it isnt official
  • Midstate01
Yea Clayton taking some shit over this. NFL says they have not decided and espn not backing it either.

seems like there is a lot of this going around lately, with ESPN and SI

There are easier ways to keep a player quiet.

They could have made him climb a video tower in a wind storm.

Pryor has been banned from the program for not talking and participating with the NCAA investigation anymore. Posey and Herron haven't done that.

The level of stupidity on this thread is becoming mind-numbing.

Which is why the "ban" is more of a thank you than it is a punishment.
  • vball10set
IMO it's neither a punishment or a thank you--it's just the university helping to pave the way for the kid to move on--period.
