#1 Recruit Seantrel Henderson
-
centralbucksfanWhats the latest on this guy? From what I have read, it was down to USC, ND and OSU. I would think ND might be out with Weis gone.
This guy is an absolute beast...some compare him to Orlando Pace. Looks like a guy who could step right in and play as a true frosh. Love to see him in Scarlet and Gray! -
killer_ewokThat's a pretty lofty comparison for a High School kid. Also, he's probably only rated so highly because ND is recruiting him. At least that's what I keep reading on here.
And recruiting isn't an exact science either, remember? -
This_DJ_3In a recent interview with OSU commit receiver James Louis, Louis said "i'm going to room with Seantrel Henderson, apparently our coaches feel really good about getting him"
I also read that he wasn't very impressed with his USC visit this past weekend. It'll come down to Florida and OSU. The Bucks lead as of now. -

6'8", 310...similar size as Pace. As far as the rating and ND..not sure where Lemming has him rated. But if ND is off the list, I am sure he is dropping like a rock.killer_ewok wrote: That's a pretty lofty comparison for a High School kid. As you could tell.....I was pretty much joking around with that last post. But to play devil's advocate......it will take a lot more than that mammoth frame to be like Orlando Pace. I mean, you can't teach that kind of size but size alone doesn't make you one of the greatest college o-linemen of all time. Fortunately for OSU.....they're pretty good at developing talent. Then again, Boone was supposed to be all-world too so I'll take a wait-and-see approach here before buying the Orlando Pace talk. And as you often say....recruiting isn't an exact science. How many of these kids actually live up to their hype? There was so much hype surrounding Pryor and he's a little behind schedule at this point. Clausen took a couple years to start to look like the QB that he was touted to be. You just never know......centralbucksfan wrote:

Okay, back to my usual self.......I'd say the enthusiasm is warranted. It's hard not to get excited over blue chip recruits. I just know there are times that some fans of other teams on here get pumped about an incoming star recruit only to have others rain on their parade with the stuff I was saying in my last paragraph. I think that it's hypocritical at times. -
SportsAndLadyI hope he comes to OSU...but I won't get my hopes up.
-
sjmvsfscs08He would start at RT from day one at Notre Dame. I really hope he hasn't written off the Irish like Joyner did after Weis was fired. Having Floyd certainly helps Notre Dame's chances in my opinion.
Anyone know how well Kelly recruits? I think it is absolutely imperative for Brian Kelly, or whoever else is named head coach, to retain Rob Ianello as a member of the staff. He is an outstanding recruiter, some say he's one of the best in the country. Notre Dame needs to keep him around. -
devil1197Henderson will be a Buckeye imo.
-
TinkertrainDo not write off Minnisota in this race.
-
SQ_CraziesWe already have a guy that's supposed to be like Orlando Pace...I'll wait and see--love to have him on board though.
-
OneBuckeyeHe said he didn't like the booing and empty seats at his USC visit. I think it comes down to Minnesota and Ohio State.
-
thedynasty1998Wasn't Mike Adams supposed to be the next "Orlando Pace"?
I had field level seats for the USC game and Henderson was in attendance. He was walking along the sidelines and someone behind me yelled, "Henderson, this is your home". He smiled and gave a big head nod. I thought that was pretty cool. I remember sitting at that game and thinking, how can you come on an official visit to this game and not fall in love. The Shoe was rocking and the atmosphere was just one of those unique moments. -
lhslep134^^ To be honest, I think any recruit who came for the Iowa game would think the same thing. Iowa got pretty damn loud too, although I can't use the USC game as a reference point because they put student radio in the pressbox for that game and of course the glass muted the noise. Normally they have us out on the camera deck where we can use the crowd noise during the broadcast.

OneBuckeyeAdams was the number 1 or 2 rivals recruit... but apparently he isn't mean enough and doesn't have it between the ears yet. He probably has the most potential of any OL on the team, he just hasn't gotten there. I think it is partly him and partly bollman's fault. We have gotten a lot of 5 star offensive linemen who have amounted to nothing. Conner Smith was a 5 star and can't even break the 2 deep. Alex Boone was a 5 star and he played like a 3 or 4 star. We do not draft off of the offensive line like we do at the rest of the positions on the team. We get just as good of recruits if not better on the OL than anywhere else, yet they don't go in the first round like our WRs, DBs, LBs, DL, RBs have. There is probably a reason for it.
-
gorocks99I hope Minnesota can get him, they're the longshot but they've been on him since day one (first to offer a scholarship) and he is pretty close with his family, so playing at home has to be a factor.
That said, he's been pretty tight lipped in every interview I've read and hasn't tipped his hand one way or the other. Whoever gets him will be getting a GREAT player, three year starter. -
0311sdpI think you have to look at Bollman, who has developed under his coaching? No one, all these top O-Line recruits can't possibly be busts. You need to look deeper for the problem and it all points to him. Tressel has issues with several of his assisants which he has been reluctant to address. But back to the O-line, itseems none of them progress or ever get any better under Bollman, maybe it's time to look for a new O-Line coach/offensive coordinator. Hendersom would be a great recruit and I hope OSU can land him, but under Bollman he probably will not develop into the next Orlando Pace.
-
killer_ewokI have to agree with those about how average coaching can hinder player progression/development. I mean, it would be silly to question the talent that OSU has brought in on the offensive line. Therefore, coaching is the problem (not Tressel but Bollman). All those talented kids can't possibly be busts. ND's been having the same problem lately at several positions.
-
thedynasty1998Bingo! I think it's been said many times that Bollmans coaching philosophy is dated, as in technique.
-
fictionThis has probably already been posted, but here's video of Henderson talking about his visit to OSU.

centralbucksfanNot a fan of Bollman at all here. That being said, there was no unit that improved more then the Oline from the Purdue game on. OSU rushing game, along with Pryor running more, was the difference in the last half of the year.
Also, I wouldn't write Adams and the other highly regarded Soph class off just yet...they have two years to play yet.
And although its "recruiting" and you never know...its not every year when an Olineman is the consensis #1 recruit in the country. -
jpake1They've had trouble, but as long as they stay healthy, they will get and become pretty damn good. Don't underestimate how injury prone our OL has been the past few years. It seems there are always a handful of guys that are injured and can't go and it forces people to play out of position. Once people got healthy this year, they played pretty well.
-
thedynasty1998Are they going to be good because of talent or coaching though?
-
darbypitcher22Bucks need to step it up and get him
-
devil1197Bucks are stepping it up. Many people that follow recruiting believe Henderson will be a Buckeye as posted in the Joyner thread.
Talent and coaching both play roles, but the OL has been hurt with injuries and illnesses for most of the season. They have finally gotten pretty much healed up and its not surprise what the results have been 5 straight 200+ yard games on the ground. -
darbypitcher22He'd have a chance to step in and make an impact immediately... Cordle is graduating, and while I know Shugarts and Adams haven't exactly been healthy the time they've been here, when they have been they haven't exactly lit the world on fire on the field....
