#1 Recruit Seantrel Henderson
-
devil1197The OL is a position that FR can come in at OSU and take playing time away. Brewster did it when he walked onto campus and Shugarts/Adams would have done the same if they were healthy. Henderson would be pushing these guys for a starting spot and would be on the two deep from what I have seen.
-
thedynasty1998If he does indeed commit, OSU would have some serious depth on the offensive line. I know there's a difference between tackles and guards, but what about:
LT: Adams
LG: Henderson
C: Brewster
RG: Shugarts
FT: Hall
Talk about what an intimidating offensive line that would be. If you couldn't run the ball for 5 yards every play something would be seriously wrong with you. -
Lovejoy1984Hall would be a better fit at RG, IMO anyway
But I like where your heads at. We seem to get a lot of big name Tackles, but hardly hear anything about Guards. Best to use the talent we have. -
gorocks99Henderson is 6'8", I think he's penciled in as a tackle no matter where he goes.
-
Lovejoy1984
True, but our former LG Rehring was 6'8", so it can be done.gorocks99 wrote: Henderson is 6'8", I think he's penciled in as a tackle no matter where he goes. -

With Bollman still coaching and an antiquated strength and conditioning program (especially for linemen) that line would be good but no where near what it could be with excellent coaching and a good S&C program. Something I dont think that most OSU fan's realize is that part of their problem on the o-line stem's from the program's refusal to have the linemen get leaner, stronger and quicker. Those big mauler's are great when your playing in the big-10 against similiar talent level's and scheme's but untill osu get's with the program S&C wise they can forget about being anything more than a 2nd tier national power.thedynasty1998 wrote: If he does indeed commit, OSU would have some serious depth on the offensive line. charliehustle14He would give us our 4th 5 Star OT in the last couple years which is pretty impressive. Out of the 4, you'd think 2 of them would emerge into being studs.

Lovejoy1984
He'd actually be our 5th. I'm pretty sure Brewster was an OT coming out, but converted to C. If we count him, I guess we could say we already have 1 stud OLcharliehustle14 wrote: He would give us our 4th 5 Star OT in the last couple years which is pretty impressive. Based on recruits, I think OSU is heading into that direction. Guys like Henderson, Longo, Mewhort, Hall, and Norwell are all considered fleet of foot for OL.Tinkertrain wrote:

I don't think it's a S & C issue. Look at the rest of the team and OSU is physically impressive at all the other positions. For whatever reason, the OL has lacked the same physicality and conditioning reflected by rest of the team....which falls back on Bollman. -

Yeah but i don't count Brew because everyone knew he was coming to OSU to play on the interior. he has been nothing but a stud though.HighRoller74 wrote:

Lovejoy1984I was trying to make our numbers look a little better lol.
Been very impressed with Brew as well. -

Although if our Tackles faulter next year, I wouldn't be opposed to putting Brew at Tackle and moving Mewhort to Center. Brew is that good, IMO. Easier said than done, however. lolHighRoller74 wrote: I was trying to make our numbers look a little better lol.

not trying to rip you, and I know what you're saying, but this post makes my head hurt.
I totally agree though, of that class of "stud" OL only Brewster is earning his scholly. -
darbypitcher22yeah sorry about the grammar....
the problem with OSU is they're really good when they just come off the ball and knock people around and don't try to do all this NFL position blocking with their hands and stuff that Bollman is teaching them.... they need to get back to just getting off the ball in the run game. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeFWIW, Michigan Insiders seem to think he's a lock to USC.

I think the thing with Boone was his off field issues (drinking). Coaches can only lead by example, the player has to want to follow that example. Some have at OSU i.e. Troy Smith. Some haven't i.e. Boone.killer_ewok wrote:
Fortunately for OSU.....they're pretty good at developing talent. Then again, Boone was supposed to be all-world too so I'll take a wait-and-see approach here before buying the Orlando Pace talk.
I am not sure if Pryor is behind or not. The thing for both players mentioned is that they both were thrown to the wolves at a young age, which will hinder development somewhat.killer_ewok wrote: There was so much hype surrounding Pryor and he's a little behind schedule at this point. Clausen took a couple years to start to look like the QB that he was touted to be. You just never know...... -
killer_ewokPryor stepped it up in the 2nd half of the season but even some of the reasonable OSU fans on here were calling for him to be benched earlier in the season.
And do you think that Boone lived up to expectations on the field? -
vball10setLOL--I don't think any of us are always reasonable!!!
and no,I don't think Boone lived up to the expectations, with the exception of last years Fiesta Bowl--I think he did a nice job against Orakpo -
darbypitcher22Of course Michigan insiders would say he's an OSU lock.... they don't want us to get him.
Its impossible to know what's running through a kid's head. Things change everyday. -

Unfortunately, I must agree with you. I think the biggest improvement OSU could make to their program would not be in the recruiting class, but in new coordinators on both sides off the ball.Tinkertrain wrote:

cmbwsu84Henderson didnt go on his visit to UF today, thats good news for OSU but he still could reschedule. He is likely to visit a second time too.
-
Che22I believe the Buckeyes all ready have the #2 rated player, an offensive lineman from Anderson H.S.
Better figure him in on the O-line -

I don't think Boone lived up to his expectations at all, but I don't think it was due to his talent, I think it was due to his off-field drinking issues.
