with your non stop praise of jim tressel (self admitted liar) you must hold liars in high regard.

Stating facts are not crying. You don't like what I post, ignore it -- instead of whining about it.

Your idea of non-stop praise is obviously delusional -- and this is yet another of your lies.

You can state facts and still whine. My point is, yeah, maybe OSU does get more negative attention from the media. Even if that is a 100% fact like you believe, WHO CARES?! This is Ohio State, not Oregon. It's a compliment to OSU. They are a national powerhouse, they're gonna attract this kind of attention. Fucking cry a little more about the negative media attention..i mean really, do..it's getting to the point where it's kinda funny. You are like the kid who cries because mommy gives lil brother more attention...wahhhhhhhh

OSU was the top story for a week on ESPN...everytime Pryor sneezed it made the bottom line...Tressel was on the cover of the USA Today, NY Times, LA Times...etc...to say that OSU fan is only acting like they are picked on because they are surrounded by it is ridiculous. This Oregon thing has yet to make a headline.

Oregon has yet to been found guilty of anything. OSU didn't get the media attention until OSU's press conference. That was one of my points.

Also, I did a quick search for "Michigan football major violations" and found articles in local papers, Ann Arbor News and Detroit Free Press, as well as ESPN, USA Today, NBC, Seattle Times, Yahoo, etc.

If you're trying to judge actual media interest, just getting articles like this probably isn't accurate. What you'll end up getting is a wire service version of the same story in a lot of different outlets.

Wasn't it the FREEP that did the actual investigation and broke the story on UM? Did any other media do original stories? I'm not comparing here, just curious because I don't remember seeing anything original other than what came from the Free Press.

You're an ass. I was responding to Web's comment. Like I said, you don't like it -- skip it. You making such a big fucking deal out of it is way worse than anything I've posted.

Yes the FREEP did the original story. Michigan story was also less serious than OSU's, so I would expect less coverage. I honestly don't remember who did "original" stories. I assume you mean SI and OTL type stories.
  • Writerbuckeye
Yep. Original stories means those that brought new allegations or information to light (whether true or not), not just re-reporting the work some other journalist did.

Writerbuckeye, you lose. The L.A. Times is still writing about the USC scandals.

    today - totally new story
Lonnie White, who played for the Trojans from 1982-86 and covered sports for the Los Angeles Times for 20 years after that, says he got $14,000 while at USC, most of it coming from the sale of season tickets.

You are blind, only seeing the media picking on poor tOSU. You are the whiny liar.

......He posted, still ignoring the 500 pound gorilla in the room. Why the lack of 'institutional control' in almost every major program's compliance is just shocking.

I'm not ignoring a gorilla, I gave WriterQQ an example of media writing about a dirty school that is not named tOSU. You did the exact same thing.
  • HitsRus
A dirty school....lol......almost everybody is dirty. The "gorilla" is that the system is one that hardly anyone is in compliance with....yet we attack each other with cries of Liar! Cheater!...Whose lies were worse? Who cheated more? Does OSU cheat more than Auburn, but less than Michigan?
  • Speedofsand
just sick of writer and others stating as fact that media only picks on tOSU. Media writes about all schools every day and I agree with you about the gorilla. Maybe 'dirty school' was the wrong term.
  • HitsRus
I don't disagree....it just seems OSU is the school du jour. I think once the NCAA 'rules' (ahem) the attention will turn elsewhere.
  • vball10set
I tend to agree with one of the less knowledgeable posters on here....Everyone here has heard the cliche' "the bigger they are, the harder they fall", and IMO, THE OSU is as big as they come. This is a HUGE story as far as college football is concerned, and as HitsRus said, we're the "team de jour". If we want the positive pub when things are going good, we better expect the negative pub when things suck. The Buckeyes are front and center of the sports media world right now, and they'll be judged on how they respond in the upcoming season and for years to come...GO BUCKS!!!

You are blind, only seeing the media picking on poor tOSU. You are the whiny liar.

Yet another lie (are you related to Knightliar?). I never said OSU is the only school being written about. Ever. I have maintained they have had more stories written about them in the past decade than any other school -- but that does NOT exclude others from having been written about, obviously. I guess you need a remedial reading course.

As for this...how laughable. A guy comes out and says he cheated and a newspaper reports it. Hardly the same thing as a newspaper sending a reporter into another city to spend his time exclusively trying to dig up dirt on a school's athletic program. Hell, the LA Times was in Los Angeles and never did any investigative work on the USC story, so far as I can find. All they did was re-report stuff Yahoo dug up, or cover the court case after it began. That's not investigative work, just doing their job as a daily newspaper by reporting stuff as it happens day to day.

And once again...I NEVER said the media is ONLY picking on OSU. So either go back to school and learn how to properly read, or quit lying.
  • Speedofsand
poor writer, poor tOSU. Maybe the Oregon story will take off, maybe its just not really as big a scandal as 30.% (using your math, lol) of your scholarship players breaking major rules they know they agreed to when they accepted a free college education and the coach lying and trying to hide it and finally having to quit or be fired. The culture of it in Cbus still has most of you angry or crying in denial. Players and former players that really know are shunned for telling the truth(Herbie), and when they change their story (Clarett, Small) the positive spin becomes the truth. You can't have it both ways. 90% of you hated on Meyer for the past 6 years just because he whipped your ass, now 90% of you want him to be tOSU's head coach.
The media picked on Florida for having several arrests, but where were the headlines when the charges were dropped because the arrests were bogus? On pg 2 of the local paper, not all over the nation. Arrests are one thing, convictions are another. tOSU is already convicted, the coach admitted guilt. Proof is there. Suck it up and quit whining for the media to go pick on somebody else. They already are.
