Braxton Miller

  • Spread All Day
Everyone is saying he's going to do so much better than Pryor, but honestly i don't believe he's going to save the program. I see 5 loses this season to the bucks. How do you feel about Miller?

    LOL.

Braxton Miller (I've said all along) will be a much better QB than TP. IMO, he already is. HOWEVER, Braxon Miller is not coming into a TERRIBLE situation.. You can't even put that kind of pressure on a freshman to say "Go save our program"... We don't even know what's going to fully happen yet.

The Bucks may or may not lose 5 games, but if they do it won't be because of Miller. It'll be the loss of talent to the team and losing their leader in JT.

Who knows what will happen to this team or Miller. Much is going to depend on their mental approach with all this crap going down. We are probably looking at a bowl ban, as well as a ban from the Big Ten title game. They will have nothing to play for. Miller has as much potential if not more than Pryor. He is more of a pure QB/passer than Pryor was coming out of HS. But he isn't the physical speciman that Pryor was. Only time will tell. But so many variables going on, that no one can predict whats going to happen with this team next year.

If the Bucks even lose 3 games it will be due to replacing 7 starters on Defense NOT anything Braxton does or doesn't do.

Definitely. No way to blame a new starter (if he does start) for any losses with the way this season is starting.

Hmmm, maybe, maybe not. Its not often a true frosh steps in and does great. He will make mistakes and they will be glaring at times. And those mistakes, based on his inexperience, could easily cost OSU a game or two. But again, its to be expected with a true frosh.

I agree with a lot of what's already been said--he's going to have "wow" moments, and he's also have some "you gotta' be shittin' me" moments...however, the kid seems to have a tremendous upside, and I'm excited for the Miller Era to begin..GO BUCKS!!!

Seeing my avatar some on here will see this as trolling, BUT if I were Miller I would be looking to pull a Ryan Mallett and GTFO.

I think Miller will end up being much better than Pryor, but obviously he's not there yet. It will be interesting this year, as OSU should have a very strong running game to help Miller out as he learns. I like Miller's running ability/style much more than Pryors. He's quick and elusive. Pryor may have been fast, but how many long TD runs did Pryor have?? Pryor was soft in traffic, and rarely made it to the last level of the defense.

why? Mallett left because RichRod let him know that he didn't fit into their offense, so he did what was best for him. Braxton Miller will fit in nicely with the players we have now, and those who WILL be coming in...let's not get ahead of ourselves with what may or may not happen.

I agree, but if I were Miller I would think that would be in my best interests. The sanctions that are coming from the NCAA could really handcuff the type of talent and coaching OSU is able to attract for most if not all of his college career.
  • FatHobbit
At the very least, the bar has been set so low that as long as Miller doesn't kill someone he will have a hard time being a bigger idiot than Pryor.

Wrong. There are maybe three or four schools that are considered ''Elite" in the Nation. Ask any 'expert' and OSU will be one of them. Also, I read an article that said Ohio State is at a better advantage than even USC. Ohio State is THE school in Ohio. Sure, there's Toledo, Akron, Ohio U, and Cincinnati - but then there's Ohio State. Ohio has one of the deepest talent pools in the country, and a lot of kids grow up actually WANTING to play for Ohio State. In states like California where USC resides, there's UCLA, Stanford, etc. In Florida (if Florida were ever hit with the same type of accusations) there is Florida State and Miami. And so on and so on. Will the sanctions hurt? You bet. But I don't think it'll hurt the type of talent (and coaching for that matter) that comes to Ohio State in the next few years.

I'm not saying they won't still have kids that want to play for them, but those same kids would also want to have a chance to play for a championship, be it conference, BCS Bowl, or National Championship. If they can't get that opportunity at OSU and can at another school, I think that would play into their decision making, at least it would mine.

I would be shocked if OSU sees more than a post-season ban for one season. Those kids are already here, and if they leave, they can't play for a year anyway, so transferring doesn't get them any further ahead.

Key words there - at least it would "mine". There isn't going to be a talent drop off like you think there is. We're not gonna go from being OSU to Ohio U just because of the sanctions. There are kids in this state (and others) that grow up life-long Ohio State fans, and all they wanna do is play football for OSU. We don't have to compete with a Florida State or a UCLA. There will be some drop off in talent yes, but depending on who they get to coach (and it will be a big name coach if not Fickell) that could all change. Besides, your original statement was that Braxton should leave OSU the way Mallett did that piece of shit school up north. Two totally different situations - Mallett wasn't going to ever get to play in DickRod's system. Braxton - if he can weather the storm - has the potential to be a hero. He's going to have a lot of pressure, maybe more than Pryor had coming in because of all of these possible sanctions. The moral of the story is, Mallett left because he wasn't going to play - Miller stays and becomes a star - and beats scUM four years in a row.

I hope what I am hearing is not accurate...but if its at all true...this thing will get much worse before it gets better. And if so, it will be at the very least, on the same level as USC. Which is currently on a two year ban.

Wow, really? I would be thrilled with only a one year ban. At this point, i expect much worse. USC-like sanctions are expected imo.

If everything we hear is true, then I won't be shocked by USC type sanctions and we would actually deserve them. However the University has as far as I understand, been very cooperative. I think if they had not turned over Tressel's emails they would still be in the clear except for the 5 game suspensions. Maybe the media would have dug everything else up eventually, but Tressel would have never been implicated.
  • karen lotz
I agree they have been cooperative since finding the emails, but prior to that is up for debate. If they did tell the car dealer to step away from the program and then did the same thing last fall for Talbott that doesn't bode well. Why would they all of a sudden take that stance unless they were tipped off somehow or were aware it was going on? That can be seen as not cooperating and covering up. Also, Smith saying it was an isolated to those 5 or 6 guys after a quick 11 day investigation is looking weaker by the day.

Good points. I agree it makes Smith look shady as hell too. (Again that is only assuming all these accusations are true.)

Thats what you get when you trust a ND guy to run your athletic program. ;) Hey, I truly believe Smith was in the dark and said what he thought was true. I honestly don't see Gene Smith lieing. I do not believe he knew what was going on, do not believe he was hiding anything. Unfortunately, he trusted Tressel. And Tressel might cost Gene his job.

Bush and Carroll were long gone as well. And the NCAA hammered them. And as I said, this is going to get worse before it gets better. A few days ago, I was hope it was only tattoogate and thought the car thing was blown out of proportion. At that time, I thought OSU might "survive". Now, I think they are going to get hammered.
