5/7/11 More trouble for OSU
-
thedynasty1998Titus' blog is very intriguing. First off I'm shocked he would print that knowing how many readers he has. Secondly, I commend him for stating the obvious.
And I'm pretty sure the monthly stipend is the same for all full scholarship athletes. -

LOL--don't think it'll work, but nice try anyway -

I agree to an extent with both points. However, I am surprised at the tweets he made later in the night responding to the critics. He should have known there would be a backlash from a select group of crazies.
My only question would be his motive to address the issue. This is obviously a hot-button issue with OSU fans (i.e. Herbstreit's comments). It doesn't bother me, because I realize his blog post has no effect on the investigation or outcome, but I'm not sure he thought this one out. -

Eh, don't fall for the hype.
Titus has a book he wants to sell and he's trying to get his name out there. He's a grade A attention whore who has been jonesing to get back in the spotlight ever since he graduated and became persona non Grata, for the most part. I don't begrudge him wanting to sell his wares, but don't get pissy if you get backlash while you're out whoring yourself and people don't agree with it. -

I think he said in the blog the only reason he addressed it was because he has been asked about it a lot and had nothing else to write about until the Indy 500. He also said numerous times that he had no facts and no inside information, it was just his observations and thoughts on the subject, which is what a blog is for. -

So...which anonymous commenter were you? -

As to your first sentence, I read what he wrote on his blog re: his reasoning. However, I'd be surprised if he has addressed every issue that he has ever been asked about. He could have easily avoided the issue. It's not as if he is paid to voice his opinion (a la Herbie). I'm not a regular reader of his blog, so I was unaware that he (may be) is peddling a book.
I'm not sure what the second sentence has to do with my post. -

You don't begrudge his trying to earn a living, but he's a whore for doing it? -

Completely agree with this. Would love to know his motive because he's smart enough to know there would be a backlash. -

Which other topic do you think had been brought up to him as much as the current status of the football team? Maybe he just wanted to give his opinion on it so people would stop asking about it, and maybe he wasn't aware the backlash would be what it was because he hadn't experienced that negative side of the OSU fanbase before? Why should he have to avoid an issue on an internet blog because it might upset some Buckeye fans?
I'm not sure what your last sentence has to do with my post. -

if you dont like what i have to say then dont read my posts. you have that option. if you read what i post and dont like it, well thats too bad. thats a you problem. do you think every one gives a fuck about your pro OSU posts? not hardly. so you can STFU. -

I never say he has to avoid the issue, but he should be very aware of the likely consequences of him addressing the issue. Did he somehow sleep through the whole Herbstreit saga? Is he not aware of the amount of Buckeye fans that follow him (over 28k followers on twitter)?
Like I said, I don't fault him at all for writing it. And I understand that he can write about anything he wants. But to not think there would be a backlash is just naive. Just as naive as the crazies who think Tressel is squeaky clean.
fwiw, he followed up with another post today: http://clubtrillion.blogspot.com/2011/05/my-rebuttal.html -
thedynasty1998Embarrassing that Titus had to explain himself today. Some fans are trully pathetic.
-
JerseyBuckFYI SI's article on Tressel will be out next Tuesday. Apparently there will be stuff from YSU in it as well. Fantastic way to end the memorial day weekend. /sarcasm

I am not clear on this, but why wait to release an article like this? Is it just a general description of Tressel's misdeeds over the years or is it supposed to unveil a new set of issues? -

From the rumblings i'm hearing it's new stuff and it's supposed to be bad.. We shall see next Tuesday. -

I know you don't know the answer to this, but why hold onto this for another week? -
purple_reinPeople at SI are spreading word that its new info that will end up getting him fired.
They are either full of it and this will be a rehash of everything we already know, or they have information from someone saying Tressel has known in the past about violations and didn't report them or has even setup something that is a violation. That is all that I can think of that is possible. -
JerseyBuckthedynasty1998;779093 wrote:I know you don't know the answer to this, but why hold onto this for another week?
My guess would be that's when the next issue of SI comes out? Not sure, it's been years since i've read SI. I do know they have been camping out in Columbus for weeks now, as have pretty much everyone else, so i'd assume whatever they have will be new, why else send somebody out if you're just going to rehash?
I've heard it may be about housing but thats just a rumor and pretty much the same way the Mo C situation went down (car, boosters, housing, grades, etc). Since they are going back 20 years when he was at YSU, i'm only assuming that it's so they can show a "pattern in behavior". In the end, I really don't know much and am just speculating but Tuesday looks to be interesting. -

if you know this to be true, then there must be a link--please provide one for us -

I saw on another site that it was reported on ESPN radio in Columbus today. No link to it because it was on radio, but it is being talked about. -
thedynasty1998Gordon from the Dispatch acknowledged on twitter today he heard about a SI article regarding OSU. I know not a link.

Best I can do is the link to Dave Biddle's twitter account where I go the info from. Click the link and it will take you straight to what he said.

devil1197Honestly, who cares?
That's the emotions I've had after months of this garbage. Illegal things have happened at OSU and I am not proud of that. But if SI or ESPN dug around any major program for over a month I am 100% positive that they would find things out that the public did not know. Not saying its an excuse, just my opinion.
Fire him and get it over with. Roll with Fickell this season and either go with him if he is successful or go big to try and reel in Meyer or another big name coach. Highly doubtful that we'll strike twice with a lower level named coach.
All I know is that out of all of this mess, Ohio State football will still survive and thrive. Even this season, with all of this bullshit that is going on, we'll be contending for a B10 championship and that means a NC if the chips fall correctly. Just need to get through the first part of the schedule and pray that the transition of the criminals into the lineup is a smooth one.
