NCAA Executive Committee Member Thinks That Tressel Should Hang In This Story.
-
passwordHas anybody else read this story about the former boss of Jim Tressel, who is on the executive committee commenting on what he thinks should be done? OSU fans have to hope he has no input on the punishment, because if he does, Tressel may be done at OSU.

Not looking to start an all out argument or bitch and whine thread, just wondering if this guy has any say on the punishment. -
sleeperI don't care, but bleacherreport? Seriously?

Bleacherreport isn't the only outlet with this story. -
sleeperI've said all along I hope they just fire Tressel and take away 85 scholarships for the next 100 years. OSU will still be better than your school, and the haters will still hate.

sportchamppsi heard this on the radio with rothman today as well. the guy was actually in the group that hired tress

If I were in their position, I'd be a hanging judge. ... I think there are lines you don't cross in your own life.... I'm not a big mercy guy. I'm not a big understander of extenuating circumstances. We all sort of engage in thinking about situational ethics. But I'm kinda old-school. And I think you're either ethical or you're not ethical. -
passwordWill this man have any say in Tressel getting punished?

You can't say 'we all engage in situational ethics....and then say you are either ethical or your not.We all sort of engage in thinking about situational ethics. But I'm kinda old-school. And I think you're either ethical or you're not ethical.
Tress owes no one an apology. He owes his bosses and the NCAA an explanation...and then to take the punishment as issued. But the above statement is bullshit. period. -

The statement might be bullshit, but to say he owes no one an apology is bullshit as well. If you fuck up and want someone to forgive you, you apologize.HitsRus;730963 wrote:The guy is a freakin' idiot

vball10setLOL--the real jackasses are the insecure people on this board who continually jump on every little story that sheds a negative light on OSU (who, btw, has continually kicked their asses over the last 10 years)--I guess misery really does love company

This is a story? Its just some guys opionion. I havent commented on this story much at all, I'm just waiting for the NCAA to come out with its ruling so this thing wil go away. I'm sure there are plenty of insecure Ohio State fans that jump on every little negative story about OSU. There are also plenty of people on this board that are jumping on any story in the hopes that OSU gets hit hard. Fans are going to support, haters are going to hate. -

It is a little more than "some guys" opinion. I agree with most of the rest of your post though.KR1245;731005 wrote:This is a story? Its just some guys opionion. -

He was when tOSU basically told him to resign or be fired. Odd how that doesn't make an appearance in these journalistic epics. One would think someone writing a story like these would include any facts that would support someone possibly having an agenda. Guess not. -

It's the beginning of Spring...and there are no other stories to talk about. How often can people talk about what happened in practice that day? You guys are just pissed because it's your school. When more breaks about the Auburn situation, I'm sure everyone will have opinions on that, too.
Lighten the hell up. -
sherm03It just makes me laugh...when there's a positive story about OSU out there, and there's 100 threads about it, we get the line: "It's an Ohio board." But now that it's a negative story about OSU, we shouldn't be talking about it.

It's natural. It's not isolated just to here or to OSU fans. Go to any other message board, high school, college, and pro, and it's the same thing. Every fan base is a homer. And it's also natural for a fan base to not want to have their shit thrown into their face over and over, especially now with spring ball starting and there actually being football to talk about. It's irritating when people act like OSU is the only homer fan base out there.
Now that I think of it, I really don't recall there being a whole lot of instances in which multiple threads were made over something positive at OSU, like you mention. In fact, it's the complete opposite....the multiple threads covering the same topic occur after a loss or if there's violations/rumors/scandal thing out there. -
karen lotzThere are 7 Tressel/tattoo related threads on the first page of the college football forum started by OSU fans. There are others started by non OSU fans too, but its not like it is only non OSU posters starting the threads.

Would the fact that the author of the article is a Michigan grad have any bearing on your concern? -

Well at least these threads don't get sent to the basement like any negative Notre Dame thread. Enjoy mediocrity! -

There's a reason these threads aren't getting closed/moved. Like it or not (and obviously plenty don't), it still is actual news coming out.
Is it getting annoying that these little stories keep coming out daily? Sure, but once you get put under that microscope, the media will keep looking. Would it be nice if there wasn't a thread started for each one and it was just tacked onto the end of an existing thread regarding the situation? Sure, but it's not worth going on a merge-fest.
There's a damn link to the story with no intent to piss people off, so it's obviously not trolling. This isn't like the "Press Conference" one password started, which got left open so he could be grilled for the most part. -

I didn't know that, so no. -

And I would like to thank you, for that kind gesture.
