Ouch....this stings. First REAL denial.
athlete37, where are you?! -
thedynasty1998I'd say that's a solid no. But honestly, until Notre Dame offers someone some money a denial doesn't mean much.
-
SportsAndLadyYeah you can't take any coach says right now serious...until he gets offered 6 million dollars a year, he's gonna keep saying no lol
-
dwccrewMaybe it's Urban Meyer then? LOL, Notre Dame fans crack me up. They have gotten themselves all worked up about Stoops and I really don't think he is going there, he is using it as leverage to get more out of OU IMO.

Sorry....the possibility of getting an established college head coach was really exciting. I thought that it was a done deal and heard that it was several different times from what were thought to be extremely reliable sources. What the hell.....I fucked up.dwccrew wrote: Maybe it's Urban Meyer then? LOL, Notre Dame fans crack me up. Yeah those darn Notre Dame fans!! Getting excited about the possibilities of their next head football coach!! What the hell is their problem!!??dwccrew wrote: Maybe it's Urban Meyer then? ytownfootballIf he pulls a Saban I would lose some respect for him.
-

I could live with it.ytownfootball wrote: If he pulls a Saban I would lose some respect for him. -
Swamp FoxUrban Meyer on a really cold Saturday in the Horseshoe...coaching against the Maize and Blue... If Notre Dame fans can dream, so can the Buckeyes. Of course, this scenario for me would have to have some qualifiers...1) Jim Tressel would decide to retire and that would be entirely up to him, 2) this would be at least 8-10 years down the road, and 3) We could find enough money to lure him to Columbus. I think by then Urban would have no more reason to want to change jobs again and he would retire from Ohio State after winning the National Championship in his final season. An Ohio Boy comes home. The Prodigal returns!!! (And it's not Bob Stoops. Not now and not 10 years from now!)
-
dlazzYou'd think Stoops would be all over a position like that. He loves to score 60 on crappy opponents. ND is a great place for that.
-
sjmvsfscs08I've thought for a few days that he may have just been using Notre Dame rumors to get more cash from Oklahoma. You can't blame him for asking the brass is Norman to match the Notre Dame offer and he'll stay. I just felt it was too good to be true :s.
-
newarkcatholicfanI am sticking by my prediction.
I have said that when the new coach is hired it wil cause a lot of those who are big fans and those making prediction go WTF. -

Crappy opponents huh? -
centralbucksfanI don't believe this is a big loss for ND at all. Although, I am not sure they ever had him like some were saying. I still think ND best bet is Kelly. Right now, except for a couple other coaches, I would take Kelly in a heartbeat at OSU. I think if ND can get him, they will be just fine.
-
BCSbunkLook people are not seeing what Stoops is not saying. He is not saying Notre Dame is crap and I will never ever go there I would not go there for a billion dollars. So this is just a ploy to make sure all the T's are crossed and the I's dotted./sarcasm

How is it a loss when you never had it in the first place? And I honestly think Kelly is a better choice at this point in time.ccrunner609 wrote:centralbucksfan wrote:I don't believe this is a big loss for ND at all
RFLMAO.......after a week of reading shit about Stoops this and Stoops that......now its no big loss?
Only at ND.
BTW moron, I am an OSU fan. And I'd take Kelly in a heartbeat over Stoops right now. I think Stoops is very good...but I really like Kelly. -

jordo212000I'd love to see Athlete's explanation
-
TeabaggerLast I checked they still haven't hired anyone. I agree it looks doubtful that stoops will be in south bend, but until someone signs none of us know what is actually happening behind the scenes.
-
SportsAndLadyCan someone please explain to me what this thing with Athlete said means lol I must have missed that thread..
-
jordo212000
He kept telling everybody he had inside information that Stoops was taking the job and that a contract was going to be signed soon. At one point he said an announcement would be made Friday (yesterday)SportsAndLadies wrote: Can someone please explain to me what this thing with Athlete said means lol I must have missed that thread.. -
Lovejoy1984Athlete stated many times he had insider sources that it was all but a done deal and the Press Conference was to be last monday or Tuesday. Then it was too be pushed back to Friday, then pushed back indefinitely.
He really seemed confident, so until they hire a coach, I won't come down on him. -
unique_67Maybe ND will end up hiring Brian Kelly, as he has now stated he is willing to talk with officials from ND next week, if they wish to speak with him about the job.
Kelly would entertain Irish advance
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4716552
"Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly told ESPN this week that he promised fans he would focus on the Pitt game and that speculation he is a candidate for the Notre Dame opening wouldn't be a distraction.
Kelly still maintains that it hasn't been, adding that he was staying away from it until after the game, but if Notre Dame wanted to speak with him next week, he would "entertain" their request."
