Bob Stoops: "I will not be the next coach at Notre Dame."
-
Mr Pat
The only people who said it was no big loss (outside of the rocket who wanted Kelly from the beginning) was an OSU fan. No ND fans are saying it's no big loss. He was my first choice and I'm not too pleased he won't be coming.ccrunner609 wrote:centralbucksfan wrote:I don't believe this is a big loss for ND at all
RFLMAO.......after a week of reading shit about Stoops this and Stoops that......now its no big loss?
Only at ND. -

Alot of good sources in the ND pay sites. Mike Frank who runs irish sports daily, and is usually very cautious about his comments has brought it up, as well as some well respected guys on irishillustrated who always have good info. You can keep your act up, but the info was good, they money was agreed upon.centralbucksfan wrote:
How do you in FACT know his "sources" were good? Sure doesn't look like that now, does it?steel_curtain wrote: Alot of really good sources said Stoops, they also said he was close to signing, but ND wouldn't give him disciplinary control over the team. Athlete's info was good, although it looks like Kelly now.
Kelly kind of worreis, me, another offense, specifically pass first offense coach.
And what other good sources had Stoops? I rarely read anything online that said Stoops was as close as many ND fans were saying. If it was that much common knowledge, it would have been all over the media. And it was nowhere. That alone tells me there wasn't much merit to it.
Fact of the matter is ND dropped the ball. They did it last time with Meyer. They gave lou Holtz academic acceptions, if they would have done the same for Meyer he would be at ND and if they would let Stoops have these res life options he would be the coach right now. -
athlete37Academic exceptions wasn't the issue, Charlie got 4 a year, Stoops was going to get 5. ResLife was the issue

athlete37And we still don't know that it fell through. Thursday they were going to discuss it and decide whether they wanted to give him full disciplinary control. Figuring on a press conference later Thursday or Friday. I told you guys we asked a player Thursday night and he said there be no announcement on Friday, meaning something fell through. Anyone who has followed ND Sports knows ResLife is a big part of ND (parietals, Kyle MacAlarney, Powers-Neal, Fauria)
-
The EqualizerIf Stoops backed out or Swarbrick dropped the ball I'm going to be very disappointed. I don't want someone who needs to win shootouts in the big east, I want someone who knows defense because that's our glaring issue. We have enough offensive weapons to score.

Are they willing to drop their standards for the players (parietals etc)?athlete37 wrote: And we still don't know that it fell through. LOL, no I didn't go to SFS, but I did wrestle a Marzec from SFS (Chad) and was 1-1 against him in my career.athlete37 wrote: dwc, weren't you a wrestler from sfs in the 90's? If so, unless your name is Parks or Marzek you can go ahead and sit down now -

Hey, I think Stoops would be a good hire. But I happen to think Kelly would be better. As an OSU fan, if I had my choice, I'd take Kelly. I think he does more with less. Stoops hasn't exactly gotten OKL over the top for a long while.Mr Pat wrote:

And again, how can it be a loss, when you never had him in the first place.
And no, I don't buy into those sites having much validity. We heard same stuff when UK was looking for a bball coach from their pay sites.
I find it hard to believe that ND AD and those involved, would let the cat out of the bag.
Everytime there is a big time job open, we hear the big names flying around. And more times then not, they were never involved in the first place. I'll go with the odds.
I also believe everytime ND can't supposedly reel in a coach, we always hear about the academic stuff being the excuse. I don't buy into that either. ND has always, and is still giving coaches "some" rope to pull in recruits. -
athlete37You guys don't find ironic that now Brian Kelly's being a little more open about talking about ND?? He may be a little more optimistic about his chances now; because it sure as hell isn't going to pick up the day before and the day of his completion of an undefeated regular season. Especially not knowing if Nebraska will beat Texas, providing his team with a NC appearance possibily. That'd be ridiculous for him to state it right now for no reason
-
athlete37I'm done arguing with some of you. Talk all you want if a new coach not named Stoops is announced. Why the hell would I bring up a random name 2 weeks in to November and say it was going to be him? The oddsmakers had it at 20/1 so I definately could've fabricated a more likely story if that's what you guys think. Funny how two weeks after I said this, everyone in the nation thought for sure it was Stoops. Looks like I'm not the only one that got the memo. Talk after the coach is announced

Two examples of why I will not believe anything until a new coach is announced. Period. -
athlete37Not a hypocrite, can't call my info bullshit untill it's wrong. I've stood by my info all of this time and will continue to do so untill Swarbrick says otherwise and then I'll believe we dropped the ball. btw, I do have 50 on Stoops, not like I have put nothing on this.
-
Mr PatCBF, I didn't say you thought he wouldn't be a good hire. I just wanted to point out to all those who think Notre Dame fans think it's no big deal, only a Buckeye fan said it. Two people said Notre Dame fans are blowing it off and I was curious if they realized they were just making it up.

Mr PatAlso, my question... What's with all the hate towards St Francis and their wrestling program??

Everyone in the nation? No, that might be every ND fan. NO media on TV, no media on the net, no cnnsi mentioned much at all about Stoops being any kind of lock to be ND next coach. Many even said it wasn't going to happen.athlete37 wrote: I'm done arguing with some of you. Talk all you want if a new coach not named Stoops is announced. Hey, maybe you are right. If so, good for you..you got lucky from your second/third hand sources. Maybe ND had targeted Stoops...who knows.
My point is, just as it always has been, and always happens...everytime a big job opens up, or the ND job opens up, we keep hearing all these big names. And each time, none have transpired. Thats the bottom line. -
athlete37Bullshit no media. ESPN was reporting it was all but a done deal. Adam Schefter as well. NFL scouts alike

ESPN? Herbie..."I talked directly to Bob Stoops and he told me he is not interested in the ND job, and fully intends on being at Okl next year and beyond".athlete37 wrote: Bullshit no media. ESPN was reporting it was all but a done deal. Adam Schefter as well. NFL scouts alike

athlete37ccrunner, I'd rather use Merriam-Webster's spelling than Urban Dictionary, but to each their own:

JU-ICEIMO Kelly is a good coach with a high upside, but can Notre Dame at this point take another chance on a guys potential or do they need to get someone with a proven track record? While Kelly may well turn out to be a great hire, I feel that not getting a Stoops or Meyer will be a big disapointment for the Notre Dame program.

athlete37Now get off my junk, seriously. It'd be different if my info was proven wrong. Whataya know, ESPN is saying ND could announce tomorrow. Looks like my damn timeline matches up fairly well...
