I dont think OSU will make the Elite 8

  • Pick6
OSU can win it all if the guards keep with the 1-2 game with Sully and actually hit their shots. Pick your poison, you can double team Sully and he will kick it out for the 3 or dont crash down and he will dominate on the block most of the time. Ohio State will go as far as their guards' shooting will take them.

Terrence Jones is so fun to watch and I would consider myself part of the Blue Mist for that one evening if the Wildcats and Buckeyes should meet. I think it would have the potential to be the most entertaining game of the entire tournament, outside of perhaps Ohio State vs. UNC.

I want this game between UK and OSU to happen, even though my second round upset special is Jay Wright and the Fighting Rollies taking down giant Ohio State. I took Oklahoma State over the Buckeyes in 2010 because of the Cowboys' ability to absolutely check you from beyond the arc and open things up, and Oklahoma State only lost to Georgia Tech in the first round by six lol.

But, Ohio State-Kentucky, I would pay good money to see if I were living in Jersey. I loved Diebler at Upper Sandusky and the things he is doing on the court now, but I would cheer for UK in a heart beat.

Ill be pulling for OSU in that game, because I wanna see OSU/UNC in the Elite 8. I think that would be the game of the tournament.

Despite the match-up you are looking forward to seeing, is there ever an occasion you would cheer for Kentucky?

I never understand why any Duke fan would cheer for North Carolina. All conference loyalty flies out the window when North Carolina is on the court, and I'm one of the biggest fans of the ACC you will find. I absolutely love that conference. But Carolina, they are bitches.

Purdue...that is my UNC. Kentucky is a second rival, but nowhere NEAR the level of Purdue. UK is closer to Illinois than they are to Purdue. Illinois is my 3rd least liked team.

OHIO state has a tougher way to the final 4 than Duke IMO but that don't mean they wont get there. Anything short of a final four prediction for OSU would be a poor one.

Post a rebuttal and I'd be happy to take a look.

I think it's a fair assessment of it by someone who has been exposed to everything both teams have to offer.

    Where would you disagree?

I don't think Kentucky understands how good OSU is. If they play, and I say if because WVU is the better team, I'll take OSU -7. Any takers?

Depends which ball they are using in the tourny, if its a wilson -7 would be a fair line, if its a Nike -2.5 would be more like it.

If only Enes Kanter was eligible, it would change the dynamics of the game to probably an NCAA final. Kanter and Sullinger at the Nike Hoops Summit last year, Kanter dominated, but Sullinger is a hell of a player and that would be fabulous. Breaking down the match-ups, I'd say it would be like this:

Jared Sullinger > Josh Harrellson - the biggest mis-match on the court
Terrence Jones > Dallas Lauderdale - Not as big of a disadvantage as Sully vs Harrelson, but close
Darius Miller = David Lighty - Different styles, but very similar roles on their respective teams
Brandon Knight > William Buford - Very close, but I'm not sure anyone on OSU can match Knight
Jon Diebler > DeAndre Liggins - Liggins is the best defender Diebler will see all year, but production-wise, it's Jon
Doron Lamb > Aaron Craft - Very, very slight edge to Lamb, but both probably 2 of the top 5 sixth men in the country

The difference for Ohio State is after the top 6 and Sullinger. Jared creates a different dimension that Kentucky could have advantages at every other spot and it would probably be equal. However, Ohio State also gets an advantage for DeShaun Thomas off the bench, and Kentucky can't match anyone like that coming off the pine.

That is where OSU's advantage is. They are a legit 7 deep, Kentucky is only 6. Both teams have other guys who can play sparingly, but for breakdown purposes, it's 7 vs 6. Sullinger is also against UK's biggest weakness, interior defense. Outside of that, it's actually a very intriguing game because neither team turns the ball over, both teams force other teams into turnovers, both teams shoot the ball lights out from behind the arc and both teams have plenty of pure talent.

I'm personally hoping the game happens.
I think Brandon Knight should be compared to Aaron Craft and William Buford compared to Doron Lamb. I know Craft is the 6th man, but he's the PG and he would be on Brandon Knight all game, and vice versa. With that, it would be Brandon Knight > Aaron Craft by a decent amount, and William Buford > Doron Lamb by a slight amount.

Also, I have a TON of UK friends and actually work in Kentucky, so this is a nightmare game for me. If Ohio State would lose to UK I would never hear the end of it. This was really the only matchup I did not want to see for OSU because as you said, Kentucky has a lot of talent and they're a similar team. I think Ohio State is the better team, but that doesn't mean a win in March.

Agree that Craft and Buford should be swapped in Az's scenario. I give OSU an edge on the interior, and the teams are about even on the perimeter. Terrence Jones is a big matchup problem for OSU though.

    Trolling at it's finest.

But I do think OSU has the toughest bracket, and what an absolute joke that is considering they're the #1 OVERALL seed.

Kansas fans were making the same argument last year about being the overall #1 seed. They felt they had the tough bracket.

I have a hard time putting Kentucky past OSU, simply because of the veteran makeup of OSU in Lighty, Diebler, and Lauderdale.
In a tight ball game (which OSU has played in many times) I would side with the team who has experience, that is OSU obviously.

Not sure losing to Northern Iowa validated that, but it was a tough draw for them obviously.

Luv to see OSU / UK matchup. OSU matches up very well with UK IMO. The mismatch is Sullinger. UK has no one to play him. Herrelson is a stiff and Sullinger would get him in foul trouble IMO. UK has no answer on the bench for Sullinger either. I like Craft on Knight as well. Not saying UK couldn't beat OSU...they could. But hell, once you get to the final 16, anyone can beat anyone on any given day.
OSU does have a tough road. Villinova in second round wont' be easy. But the one matchup I DO NOT like, is with 'Cuse in the elite eight if OSU/'Cuse both make it that far.

Jones is good. But very, very left handed. I think Lighty would be on him, and could do a good job on him. He has size on Lighty. But Lighty could certainly contain him IMO.

I think it would be important for Lighty to get at him early and often. Jones is a very talented player but from the little bit of Kentucky I have seen this year, he can frustrate pretty easily and will force shots. If Lighty(or whoever is guarding him) can get him off his game early, then he will not only struggle individually but get Kentucky out of their natural flow as he is trying to force his own game.

How about OSU get through the first two rounds before we get too far ahead of ourselves.
