What the players are saying
-
Big GainSome might not like to hear this, but I found it interesting and a look into what today's elite athletes think. I was on the road this evening and turning the dial looking for a station talking about the "situation". I came across a Columbus AM station, don't know which one, and LeCharles Bentley was being interviewed.
LeCharles Bentley has done some work for BTN, has a radio show in Columbus and has a personal training business. He has access to The Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Knowing football players would be working out and talking, he went down there this morning to see what was happening. He said all of the incoming Freshman who graduated early and enrolled at Ohio State this winter, offered that they now were POSITIVE they made that right decision to come to Ohio State. They now knew for sure that Tressel "had their back". The only thing that would make any of them leave would be if Ohio State got the "death penalty". -
dwccrewBentley said this on his radio show? I don't know how reliable the info. is, but if true it would be reassuring somewhat.

cbus4lifeGood to know, i guess.
Still doesn't help the fact that i just don't feel excited at all about OSU football at the moment.
Maybe i'm a bad fan, maybe it is because of the basketball team having a great year, i don't know, but i just could care less about any of them right now. Fuck 'em, though i'm sure i'll come around once things calm down a bit. -

Bentley's radio show is in Cleveland.(WKNR).

I think that's the real motivation here. No way in hell Tressel would turn his own guys in, he would suffer in recruiting for the rest of his career. -

don't always see eye-to-eye with your posts, but this pretty much sums up my feelings as well...GO BBALL BUCKS!!!cbus4life;705965 wrote:Good to know, i guess.

LJLooking for a station talking about this situation? I was hellbent on finding a station NOT talking about it. I failed.

purple_reinAll of the player tweets have been the same. Nothing but support for Tress.
-
vball10set^^^and I'd expect nothing less...for me, I'm still trying to process everything before passing final judgement

SpeedofsandIn Tressel We Trust
-
september63It is nice that his players are all backing him and recruits are saying they are now sure they made the right decision. But, keep in mind, Lane Kiffin recruits well and kids wanna play for him too. Just sayin....

This. He screwed up. I still want him as our coach. Unless we find out he did a whole lot more than sit on info he should have reported. -
bases_loadedIf anything we should get 6* guys now.
-
stephen3108Lane Kiffin is also a scumbag and everyone knows it. Has multiple groups of fans that hate him. Places he coached at. Tressel has nothing but love from OSU fans. Everyone I know is supporting him.
-
september63I am by no means saying Tressel is anything close to Lane Kiffin. I am just saying the players still seem to flock to Kiffin. So it is no surprise Tressel's guys still wanna play for him.

hilliardfanI'm sure the Tattooed 5 (6?) are sorry they got caught but do you think any one of them cares one iota that the situation Tressel is in is a direct result of their actions?
-
thedynasty1998Why wouldn't the players support Tressel?

I would hope every one of them was watching that press conference the other night and said to themselves, "We started this train wreck". I know JT is responsible for his part, but I would hope the players would feel badly. -
jordo212000Obviously nobody on the current team is going to call out Tress. Not sure what LeCharles was hoping to gain from talking to current players. That's vanilla answer city right there
-
charliehustle14There's about 3 former players that I'd like to hear from on the whole situation
Archie
Krenzel
and of course...Nick mother fudgin Mangold -
thedynasty1998Krenzel would be interesting, and I would imagine at some point he'll talk about it on The Fan.
A couple other names:
James Laurinaitis - I always found him to be pretty intelligent and he's obviously a star
Marcus Freeman - was a good player, was hired by Tressel and is now a coach at Akron. -

Damn good point! I think a lot of what's been lost in this whole thing is that Tressel isn't dirty or a cheater. He f***ed up, for sure, but his program isn't considered dirty. It all started with some very poor decisions being made by a group of very young men. I would hope that they feel remorse after seeing what has transpired and commit themselves to turning this story around. -

To whom? I think most, at this point, would consider it dirty with his history. It's impossible to ignore the other issues that have taken place. -

I think its Kent State but I could be wrongthedynasty1998;706345 wrote:Krenzel would be interesting, and I would imagine at some point he'll talk about it on The Fan.

dokkenIt's ok. Ohio State is on a long list of football programs that have broken the rules.
