2011 ACC Tournament

reclegend22He's a great player. I have no problem admitting that. Barnes is a legitimate top five pick in the NBA Draft. I just really hate him. I mean hate him. Hate his head, everything. Haha.
Carolina's resurgence this season has really re-ignited my derision for Roy and his club. It hasn't been this high since Hansbrough's peak. It got to the point where I wasn't even breathing on Clemson offensive possessions anymore. I just couldn't stand to look at that cast of people being happy and successful anymore. I'm sure you share my sentiments. -

Believe me, I know exactly how you feel. My dislike for K, his program, and every single player that puts on a Duke jersey is probably unhealthy, but I just can't help myself. I do respect the program that K has built, and I do give credit to any Duke player who is simply good, but that's about where the positives end for me.
I won't be around my computer during the game tomorrow, and that's probably a good thing, since I'm already nervous. This game means so much. From my perspective, it's a chance for Carolina to be the true ACC Champion, tie Duke in all-time ACCT titles (basically the only advantage they have over the Heels ), and potentially get a #1 seed...and of course, take two of three from the Rat and his Evil Empire. I will be so disgusted if Carolina doesn't win that game tomorrow. If I have to see smiles on the faces of the Dukies tomorrow afternoon, I'll probably vomit. -
reclegend22I won't get into the specifics, as I have done many times before, but, over the past 20 years, Duke has handled Carolina in almost every category, including head-to-head victories You can have the Roaring Twenties. I am quite fine with that. So you won more titles while Calvin Coolidge was in office. In my very best Jerry Seinfeld voice, Big deal.
All banter aside, if Duke loses tomorrow, I will vomit. All I need do is evoke the imagery of the night Belmont almost ruined my life to imagine the hopelessness I will be experiencing tomorrow around 3 if John "The Straw" Henson is flailing in joy. I hope John's all bravado and that he's actually on anti-depressants. Lol. Sadly, I am serious.
Cannot wait! I live for this. -

23,500 tix available it's not as special as you might believe. Duke Carolina at Cameron is the holy Grail. All other duke Carolina venues are better watched On tv. You could easy come down and scalp a ticket for less than 150 tomorrow. The coliseum is massive and more often lifeless. That is what makes the big east tournament the best. The garden and NYC fans. Tomorrow with all the heels fans inside will have the energy of weds night bingo at the vfw. -

My little bro got to see Duke vs. UNC in Chapel Hill last week or whenever it was, said it was the best athletic event, in terms of atmosphere, that he has ever been to. And he's been to just about every OSU vs. UM in Columbus since he's been able to walk, including the 2002 game in Columbus when OSU was #1 and UM #2, i believe.
Cameron must be something special, in terms of viewing the rivalry, considering the way he described the game in Chapel Hill.
And, you will be proud to know, he wore his Duke gear the entire day in Chapel Hill, and he was sitting in one of the Carolina season ticket sections. Had some old lady come up to him with the ushers and try to get him kicked out, despite doing nothing wrong, aside from wearing Duke gear. Got told to leave a Chipotle in town earlier that day as well haha.
I always derided him for his Duke fandom growing up, but i guess he earned it that day. Didn't back down from anyone lol. -
swamisezThat is a good story. Chapel Hill is gomorrah for a Duke fan. People down here are largely civil. Chapel Hill and the people's republic of Carrboro (its neighboring town) are quite granola. The dean dome with its 22K is a rocking atmosphere. Definitely the loudest college bball venue I've been to. Went to Duke Carolina last year and in 2006. Both were absolutely frenzied. Hats off to your brother for having large cajones. Despite this, the experience at Cameron is much better.
Cameron is a small small venue, 9314 and 5200 of those are students who are right on top of the players. They chant from the moment the opposing teams begin stretching to the second they leave the court. Everything about the Duke Carolina game there is amped up. Body paint stains sidewalks on your way in, there is a tent village outside the front door, they have giant stakes that serve as mile markers for the tent village. I should post a picture of these things, they are something to behold. There are usually 15-20 brave souls in light blue who make the trek, and when they arrive they too are chanted at. It is good natured.
Greensboro and the fact the teams have to play there, in my opinion, makes light of the rivalry. It will feel like this to the OSU brethren when they have to see OSU and Michigan play in a big ten championship game in football. Sure it will be nice to have the teams out there, but if you have been to the shoe or better yet the big house and then have to compare that atmosphere to something in Indy or Chicago it will be disheartening. That is the way I feel about Greensboro or any other ACC Tournament venue for that matter. Its a thousand times worse when they play in Atlanta and half the crowd are walk up scalpers from GaTech or FSU. -
ohiotiger33Balls. Tough to win a game against a team on their home court, lol. Being a Clemson fan is rough haha.

So, not a fan of Duke-Carolina in Greensboro? Haha.swamisez wrote:That is a good story. Chapel Hill is gomorrah for a Duke fan. People down here are largely civil. And, if you have those pictures you describe, please, do post them. They sound amazing. -
the_systemWhen did Michael Jackson and Sheldon Williams get their picture taken together?
-
reclegend22Shelden Williams looks nothing like E.T. If we're just playing a game of post-an-arbitrary-photo-that-looks-like-nothing, then here is a beach ball. It looks like Kareem Abdul-Jabar.
Sam Cassell and Harrison Barnes, however, do have similar characteristics to Elliot's extraterrestrial friend. -
the_systemCassell is an obvious #1. Sheldon Williams is definitely not from this world either, but he has more Admiral Ackbar blood in him than anything. Harrison Barnes doesn't even register on how much those two look like extraterrestrial beings.

georgemc80WTF. Directv is experiencing technical difficulties?
-
brutus161Anyone know why this game isn't on? Guide says it should, but some college all star thing is on.

It's ESPN.
The HD channel keeps freezing, so stuck watching it on standard def. -

wildcats20You have got to be fucking kidding me.
Dexter just posterized the SHIT out of Singler but gets called for the charge even though Singler wasn't even close to being set. -
brutus161My wife is fucking pissed right now. She is a big Duke fan.

This x infinity. He was falling before contact was made and Strickland made contact with his foot.wildcats20;709871 wrote:You have got to be fucking kidding me.

It's the only way Dook takes "charges." They fall before contact and get the calls.
Nevertheless, Carolina looks like shit as Knox throws a missile at Strickland and he loses it out under the basket. -
the_systemWatching this game reminds me why I hate watching Duke play. It's like soccer with all of the flopping. That one guy made singler look like a dumbass and they call a charge on it.
-
birddog23Duke playing very good, moving the ball well and getting production from their bigs. UNC kind of looks uninterested in a way.
-
Cleveland BuckDuke is doing to Carolina what I thought they would do last week. I don't think they have the resume to pass Pittsburgh or Notre Dame for a #1 seed though.
