Big 10 Tournament: OSU vs PSU Championship 3:30

    36-33. That is unbelievable.

Bracket really opened up for the Buckeyes today.

That was the best game I've ever seen. I've always wanted to watch a game with this low of scoring, and it was fun to root for no one to score.

Good God. This game combined with the fact that the 2 and 3 teams looked horrible tonight aren't going to make the conference look too great.

So I changed my TV to ESPN, it actually does have color.

That was pathetic. I cant believe Indiana is the worst team in this conference...Jesus.

I think the conference will look fine with 7 teams in the NCAA tournament. This tournament is just a microcosm of what the season was like. Every team is capable of guarding you and taking you out of your game. The top 9 teams just beat each other up. It's not like Purdue and Wisconsin lost to bad teams. They lost NCAA tournament teams.

^^^Thats a stretch, Northwestern is not good, and Minnesota is awful.

That game was ok defensively, nothing great. Those teams just sucked offensively.
  • burt07
Yeah don't try to sugarcoat it, that was just an awful basketball game. I understand what you mean about the teams beating up on each other, I'm not saying the conference is in the dumps. But that was just bad.

What does that game have to do with "the conference'? How many other Big Ten tournament games were in the 30s?

PSU winning is the worst thing MSU wanted to see. Now if they lose they are at best heading to dayton and maybe out.

Nah, helps my prediction. They are going to the finals.

You made this before the tourney? Only thing I remember was an Indiana prediction. :)

haha. I made it before their game today versus Purdue. Same effect though, they had Thursday off.

Lunardi doesn't even have Michigan State as one of his last 4 byes. If they lose to Penn State they might fall there, but I doubt they would fall all the way to a play-in game.

If they lose think of all the teams that could pass them. PSU for sure, then you have teams like VT, Richmond, Bama, Dayton, Memphis, etc.

Well sure, if Virginia Tech beats Duke and Alabama beats Kentucky and Dayton wins the A-10 then MSU could fall down there, but not all the way out, and how likely are those things to happen individually, let alone all 3.

I would say there's a very good chance. You have Clemson, VT, Dayton/St Joes, Richmond, St Marys, Alabama, and maybe a couple others. The thing you are overlooking is a MSU loss to PSU doesn't look near as good as the loss most of these other teams are looking at. That's my point about playing PSU is way worse than Wisconsin for them.

A loss to Penn State isn't a bad enough loss to knock them out of the tournament no matter what happens elsewhere.

I think sparty is in regardless...the win today will be all the committee needs to justify it imo and why they give Izzo so much credit.

Agreed. Some great defense being played by both teams and as we all know, defense wins championships.

It's the way people perceive the conference. No they didn't have other games in the 30's because obviously that's the most extreme. But people perceive the conference as a 50 point, no one knows how to play offense league. In the end, I guess I don't really care because the committee isn't the one that looks at it that way.

Looks like Michigan State was just going through the motions until the postseason started. They are playing the way people were expecting them to play all year.
  • dave
Michigan completely changed their tempo after those 2 terrible calls sullinger got once Michigan cut it down to 2. This lack of tourney experience is going to doom them next week.

There's one of those teams in almost every conference...UNC in the ACC, K-State in the Big 12, MSU in the B10, arguably Florida in the SEC.

Lucas playing his 3rd game in 3 days on a bum ankle. I think Taylor Battle might outplay him the rest of the way.
