Ohio State def. Northwestern, 58-57
-
LeonardoOhio State travels to Evanston to take on the Wildcats of Northwestern, who really don't have any "high quality" victories this season.
-
JesterWell, let's hope Ohio State isn't there first. If OSU plays well, they shouldn't have much trouble. Get up on them early, and don't look back. Don't want to give them the confidence that they can beat this team early on. I think OSU wins this one by 15+. Sully should have a good game.

ytownfootballNW hasn't beaten anyone of high quality, agreed. They've looked really good at times this year, but not recently. Ohio State has looked the best they have all season against Purdue, their target on their backs didn't get any smaller.
I agree about getting up early and cruise. Hopefully Matta has expressed the importance of every opponent and not to overlook anyone (you know he has just whether the team takes it to heart) One at a time, just take them one at a time. -
Big GainShurna has a concussion and has not yet been cleared to play

they had a chance with Shurna, but have little chance without him...Sully should go off for 30 -

centralbucksfanDefinately not a good matchup for NW. Even if OSU doesn't play up to par, they should rolle to a 10+ pt victory in this game. NW will try to shorten the game, run the shot clock. So OSU will have to deal with that. Hopefully they can force some turnovers, get a lead and not have to worry about NW dictating the tempo. But OSU will have to be disciplined on defense.
I don't expect OSU to play as they did vs Purdue...see a bit of a letdown in this game. But even at that, they are way more talented and should roll. -

any game in the Big Ten, especially on the road, is a danger game -
FatHobbitI'm curious to see how the freshman handle Northwestern's slow pace offense. I don't expect any trouble, but as others have said any game on the road is dangerous.
-
Midstate01NW has sped things up this year. They shoot it a lot more freely. But if Shurna is out, i would expect them to slow it way down. Regardless, i dont see this being a big problem game for OSU, but every game makes me nervous!

NW averages 76.2 ppg this season. To put that into perspective OSU 79.3. They dont play alot of defense and OSU does. -

I think the slow pace plays into OSU's favor. Look at the Illinois game, the Illini made their runs by beating the Bucks down the court. In the half-court, they didn't have much success. NW has nobody that even has a chance at getting by Craft and Lighty when the defense gets set. -

Apparently I haven't watched any Northwestern games this year -
ou1980Not going to lie, I have a bad feeling about this one...kind of like when osu football played at purdue and lost in 2009

gerb131Too many athletes for NW to handle and too much strength on the perimeter. I think the Cats keep it close for a half and play some stall ball but the Bucks get the tempo into high gear and handle the Cats by 15+.

The line I saw was under 10 (9, I believe), so there are folks out there who expect this to be a battle. A lot depends on Shurna's status. If he's out, Northwestern really is looking at climbing a mountain without a guide. That said, I NEVER take anything for granted on the road in the Big Ten -- and OSU has struggled most years in Evanston. -
gerb131Same NW team who got thumped by Wisc like 76-48 not long ago. Bucks win going away.
-
Midstate01Shurna is officially out for NW with concussion.
-
Laley23Northwestern has a chance if Thompson goes for 40+ and Murkavic knocks out Sully with a quick jab to the right temple. Other than these occurances, I wouldnt see much light heading into this game for the Cats.
