Aaron Craft

The kid's growing up right in front of us--makes you teary-eyed, doesn't it? He never ceases to amaze me, I mean, frustrating and for all intents and purposes shutting down one of the best guards in the Big Ten...simply amazing.

Very few people can not shoot and score and really impress me, however Craft is the exception. Phenomenal game by him today. And anyone that says he and Sullinger are not the two most important players to this team don't know basketball.

Id be kinda surprised if either Mcamey or Battle get drafted honestly

Can you imagine how good he will be in 2 years?

I expect Craft won't have to play as many minutes next year with Shannon Scott coming in. What's amazing is Craft was ranked as the 28th PG in his class, Scott is ranked 7th in the 2011 class and could be underrated at that nmber, based on his performance this year.

The ESPN recap mentions nothing about Crafts defense, that's a shame.

    Scott is anabsolute beast!!!

2:1 Assist to Turnover ratio with 2 steals per game. Ill take those numbers from a freshman PG.

With Diebler, Lighty and Lauderdale graduating, I'd be surprised if someone takes minutes from Craft next year.

McCamey is without question going to get drafted. He has an NBA body, can handle the rock, pass and is better than a decent shooter. Most have him projected as late 1st rd, early 2nd rd.

And Scott has really stepped up his game this year. He recently schooled a Duke recruit in a weekend tournament. Matta going from not having enough guard play, to having plenty. Good problem to have. ;)

I dont care how many guards they will have next year. Craft will get his 30 minutes.

Oh, no question about that. He will be on the floor. Just going to be interesting to see how Matta works his magic if Scott is good enough to be on the floor.

Slide one of them to the 2.

I dont think either is suited for the 2 guard. Scott is only 6'2" 175 and weakness listed is his outside shooting.

Why is it continued to be brought up that "Scott schooled a Duke recruit"? Marta is recruiting at a level where our recruits are every bit as good as Duke's. Let's quit putting Duke on such a pedestal.

Why? Because I can, and I felt like it. Good enough? It is for me.

At this young stage of his career he'll be 3 yrs. and gone. The NBA is always looking for that next "white guy" to fit in and I mean that in all due respect.

Scott's HS team #9 Milton GA beat Oak Hill Academy the #1 team in the country. The Duke recruit is Quinn Cook, rated a couple of spots ahead of Scott(he's a Duke recruit). NO ONE for Oak Hill could guard/stop Scott. The Oak Hill coach had to play a zone to stop Scott.

Matta prefers big wing players(6-6 Diebler and 6-5 Lighty and Buford). Next year the 6-6 Thomas and 6-4 Sibert will be playing and Matta has 2 even taller Wing players in next years class, 6-7 Sam Thompson and 6-8 LaQuinton Ross. And with 4 new post players available next year, I doubt we see much of Craft and Scott on the floor together, unless the opponent has 2 quick guards on the floor. FINALLY having TWO solid, real PGs will be a luxury for Matta.

    6-8 LaQuinton Ross
I watched Ross in person today and I was underwhelmed. He definitely has skills, but he is so passive those skills are rarely seen. His defensive play would be best described as uninterested. All of this happened with Thad Matta watching. Can yo say redshirt?

Even though it's easy to do, let's not get ahead of ourselves on who or what's going to happen next year--a lot of things can happen between now and then. Coach Matta will see to it that Aaron Craft is on the floor as much as possible next season--how can he not??

As they should! Many people don't realize what a luxury it is to have a defender like Craft. The pressure he puts on the ball is huge in the half court defense. I have been a believer in his defense, but yesterday, shutting down a player like McCamey was as impressive a display as I have seen defensively.

I was discussing Craft's on ball D with a friend and we were trying to think of a PG that he couldn't check. We had a tough time thinking of one....can you? Maybe Irving?
