Ohio State @ Illinois - Sat. 1/22 - Noon CBS

  • Ankle Breaker
Well, the schedules toughens a bit now with the Buckeyes heading off to Champaign. Tough atmosphere, solid team. The Ilini have a little bit of everything and it will take a great effort to get out of there with a W. Sully and Lauderdale must stay out of foul trouble or the size of Illinois will be a major issue. IMO Go Bucks!

I'd love to see the Bucks spend some time in full court pressure against the Illini. Early in the season they seemed to be not able to break the press very well. I'd like to see them employ it before they (if) find themselves behind and need to. Craft I think had nine steals against Iowa, Iowa ain't Illinois but wouldn't mind seeing them try to exploit it a little bit.

if we can avoid our usual 7-8 minute lull in the second half, then we'll be all right...OSU 66 Illinois 58

7 steals, but 5 TO's, so he was only +2

As far as OSU pressing..we have yet to see it, and doubt we will unless its absolutely needed. With Matta only going 7 deep, I doubt its something he will do. He isn't going to go into this game, after 19 games and make any kind of major changes. They live on their half court defense. That is their bread and butter.

My concern going into this game is what VBall said above...against the lesser big ten teams, OSU has had long stretches of falling asleep. Can't happen now with 7 of next 9 games against ranked teams. Also the matchup with McCaney is going to be interesting. If we put Craft on him, he is much bigger and probably stronger, and could post him up. If Buford plays him, which he will to start the game, he is much stronger. McCaney is flat out good and could be a match up problem for OSU.

Illinois couldn't beat the press, not the Bucks

He meant Illinois has struggles versus the press.

It actually cost the game versus Texas.

I'm just thinking that that up-tempo defensive effort might actually prevent that lull especially in a hostile environment.

Ya, I got it. Misread it. But doubtful we see it with lack of depth. Then with Sully/Lauderdale both a bit foul prone...leaving them back to play the basket leaves them exposed IMO.

I agree. Home against Purdue worries me more than this game. That isn't to say I don't think Ohio State can lose as it's tough to play at Illinois, there's just something about Illinois that doesn't strike a ton of fear into me. Hopefully that doesn't put the jinx on the Buckeyes but I just think Illinois is too inconsistent. McCamey is really good though and I could see him having a big night.

McCamey isn't much bigger than Craft. He may be a little stronger, but I think it is a decent matchup for Craft. Buford presents length for McCamey.I think a bigger concern is the athleticism of Brandon Paul and Jereme Richmond.

Exactly what I was thinking. Excited because it's OSU best chance to lose thus far.

I'd have more respect for someone if they just came out and said it, most don't have the testicular fortitude to do so. Most would rather linger in the bushes waiting for what we all know is an inevitable loss during Big 10 play and bust out with the "I called it", "I told you so's" and the "over-rateds"...claiming that "all" Buckeye fans claimed some damn superiority...it will happen.

He watches more osu games then some osu fans. And he even goes to games sometimes. He's either a closet fan or is stalking Thad.

Your probably right. But McCamey is a bitch. 16pts, 7 asst per game..and a senior. Definately stronger. I'd agree, decent matchup with Craft. But McCamey makes them go. Ill will be as successful as he is.

He had 7, #2 in Ohio State history and the most by a Freshman.

The best to hope for is, is for Craft to get under McCamey's skin, just a little. Throw him off his game, just a little.

Or because I am excited for it because it is the number 1 team in college basketball playing another top 25 team?

Lol and going to OSU games mean I am closet fan or stalking Thad? How about that I am from Columbus and grew up going to OSU games?

If Ohio State loses Saturday I'm not going to come on here and say I told anybody shit. Some of you are a little bit too paranoid about my opinion.

I think Illinois only chance i for their bigs to spread the floor and get Sully and Dallas out guarding them. That opens the driving lanes for McCamey and the others. I have my doubts Davis will be able to do this though. Tisdale should have a good offensive game. I think he gets some open shots.

I'm not insinuating you would, you might I don't know, but there are others that will.

This. Tisdale has the ability to draw whoever is guarding him out as far as the three point line, which open driving lanes for the Illini's guards whenever we go with a one big line-up, such as when Craft comes in and either Sully or Lauderdale go out.

It wasn't really addressed to you. More of to the idiot who comments about literally everything I say.

Also, after a stretch of less than stellar performances, Brandon Paul has put in 15 or more in two straight games. Had 15 against Wisconsin and 20 against Michigan State. Let's hope his improved play does not continue.

I just think it's funny you hate osu , but you watch every game and literally post on every topic. It just doesn't make sense.

On a serious note though, what's happened to Dante?? I am from close to greenfield. And I thought after his first couple years he was primed to just explode. Doesn't seem like that ever happened though.
