Ohio State @ Illinois - Sat. 1/22 - Noon CBS

karen lotzUgly win but a Big Ten road win at a tough place to play. I don't think we will see Buford and Lighty struggle that much in the same game too often.
-
se-alumAaron Craft will haunt McCamey's dreams tonight!!
-
adog^^^^ Did not see the stats, What McCamey end up with?
-
Cleveland BuckNo such thing as an ugly win on the road against a legitimate top 25 team in the country. Any win is impressive.

2-11, 5 pts
Craft is a boss! -
ytownfootballFantastic win, great defense down the stretch. Made a lot of free throws, was just praying Sully's second miss wasn't going to hurt.
20-0...awesome -

Sweet....thanks. Not only holding him to 5 points, to me, the dismal shooting % stands out more -
Midstate01Craft was all over him the whole game. And did a great job denying him the ball.
Sometimes I think craft gets too close and flirts with fouling. But then I remember how much refs let guys rape Evan turner down the floor last year.
I really thought today would be the first time we could see craft be overmatched. But he was once again fantastic. -
Midstate01And we only missed 3 ft's. Great stat today.

C'mon, not an ugly win at all. Coming from 9 down half way through the 2nd half on the road against the #22 ranked team in the country. This was a GOOD win for the Bucks on a day where they didn't get much from 2 of their best players.karen lotz;648243 wrote:Ugly win but a Big Ten road win at a tough place to play. AutomatikOSU did look sloppy at times on offense, but I credit that to Illinois' defense.
-
vball10setwow--I'm thoroughly exhausted..time to hit the showers and quaff some cold ones

Big GainA mortal team would have folded on the road when Illinois made their run to put Ohio State down 8 in the 2nd half.
A mortal team would not have made 24 of 27 free throws on the road in a hostile enviroment.
A mortal team would not have won on the road when 3 of their best players were a combined 6 of 27 from the floor.
A mortal 6-9 275 Freshman would not have been able to play all 40 minutes, score 27 points, make 13 of 15 FTs, get 16 rebounds, have 3 blocks and ZERO turnovers. ON THE ROAD, AT ILLINOIS!
Doubters? -
SportsAndLadyVery good win for OSU..not sure how you could watch that game and say it was an ugly win. WInning in Champaigne is ridiculously hard to do..this had upset written all over it, and OSU was able to get it done. Like I said, very good win.

cbus4lifeGreat win!
Especially considering Lighty and Buford didn't really show up. -
centralbucksfanLaley23;648239 wrote:Ok, I just rewound the DVR to the Craft/McCamey charge/block. I think it was a good call after initially thinking it was a charge. McCamey actually got pretty upright and didnt bulldoze. Craft did flop a lot after the contact, but the contact was minimal.
One of the worst call I have seen this year. Its either a charge, or a no call. Definately NOT a foul on Craft. -
Big Gain
Sloppy?? Ohio State only had 7 turnovers, one of their lowest totals of the year....AND the game was .....ON THE ROAD, AT #22 ILLINOIS, IN A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT.Automatik;648257 wrote:OSU did look sloppy at times on offense, but I credit that to Illinois' defense. -
karen lotzJesus. I'm not saying it wasn't an impressive win or that it was a bad win. I meant ugly in the sense that they really didn't play well the majority of the game. 2 of the veteran leaders played awful, took bad shots early in the clock, played bad defense, etc. They made a lot of boneheaded decisions. They did make enough plays to win, but as was pointed out, some bad shot selection by Lighty and some other bad poor plays allowed Illinois to hang around. Bottom line, which I already said, was that it was a Big Ten road win at a tough place to play. That is impressive no matter how they won.

centralbucksfanVery, very good win for OSU. What was impressive about this, was that Lighty and Buford did NOT play well at all. Thomas was HUGE. He is the "no no", yes! Craft amazing defense on McCamey. And obviously the BIG FELLA was an absolute beast. He kept OSU in the game. Defensively, OSU was very, very good. When the offense was struggling, defense was consistant and kept them within striking distance. Bruce Weber is questionable at times as a bench coach. Down the stretch, his team ran NOTHING. Than that last possession was just ugly. 7-0 in the Big Ten, OSU is sitting pretty right now after this road win. This team continues to impress.

Midstate01Six assist and only two turnovers for the Buckeyes in the second half. None in the last 18:40 of the game. Great win today on Illinois
Great stat from Ron stokes Twitter page. -

Yeah I'm happy about it. Don't have an aneurysm.Big Gain;648274 wrote:Sloppy?? Ohio State only had 7 turnovers, one of their lowest totals of the year....AND the game was .....ON THE ROAD, AT #22 ILLINOIS, IN A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT. -

I was going in but the Buckeyes stayed cool under pressure...a real good sign. I'm sold now. Ohio State is the real deal. I still think no team can play a Big 10 schedule and come out of it unbeaten, but I'm now confident we're looking at the Big 10 champs.Big Gain;648265 wrote:A mortal team would have folded on the road when Illinois made their run to put Ohio State down 9 in the 2nd half.

Absolutely!!! That was a horrible call. One of the worst call I have seen this year. Its either a charge, or a no call. Definately NOT a foul on Craft.
Sullinger was impressive, But I have to give some props to D. Thomas. His scoriing burst turned the game around -
september63Terry_Tate;645803 wrote:I agree. Home against Purdue worries me more than this game. That isn't to say I don't think Ohio State can lose as it's tough to play at Illinois, there's just something about Illinois that doesn't strike a ton of fear into me. Hopefully that doesn't put the jinx on the Buckeyes but I just think Illinois is too inconsistent. McCamey is really good though and I could see him having a big night.
Ohio State 72 - Illinois 67
Nice call Terry. -
september63J. Diebler played a good game too. When was the last time you saw him shoot/score off the dribble? He actually attacked the basket a cpl times.
