You are Jim Delany - how do you fix the Big 10?

The Big 10 as a BCS conference doesn't play any tougher bowl line-up than any other BCS conference.

I root like hell for Ohio State myself, but Buckeye fans in general are adept at (a) denigrating any team that's not Ohio State, (b) denigrating conferences that aren't the Big 10, and then (c) making excuses for both OSU and Big 10 failures when they occur...and they occur more frequently than some Buckeye fans care to admit.

This happens with every fanbase across the country. My girlfriends family is full of die hard Notre Dame fans, you should hear how these people talk about Ohio State/Big Ten teams and their fans. They were ripping the Big 10 apart yesterday. They didnt mention that the two Big 10 teams that got blown out aslo beat their beloved Irish.

Have you ever heard how SEC fans talk about other conferences and teams?

Delany really can't do anything to improve the fortune of the Big 10. To me, the main difference between the Big 10 and SEC is the coaching. Go look at who the head coaches are in the SEC and then compare that list to the guys in the Big 10.

What did Notre Dame losing to those two teams in September have to do with them losing by a combined 101-21 yesterday?
  • ytownfootball
It supports his point, that ND fans are all the sudden talking a bunch of shit, like a lot of other fan bases.

    Comprehension is your friend.

    Beat me to it.

My point was that this happens with every conference and every fanbase in the country.

I think he was using that as a personal example to support his point that all fan bases engage in mindless, moronic banter and criticism. But, maybe i'm reading it wrong.

great post KR1245...every fanbase has their own agenda, whether we care to admit it or not--and any fan that says different is a liar

Oh I agree but here's the deal....

I now live in State College and have the unfortunate displeasure of living and working with Penn State fans literally in the shadow of Beaver Stadium. The thing is this situation has given me an opportunity to see Ohio State and its fans from a different perspective.

Penn State fans are equally guilty of not admitting reality, but delusional Ohio State fans take it to a whole new level.

I think one thing has already been done adding a championship game which will make the season end later. Big 10 teams are built for power because you cant always pass late in the season in the big 10 in the weather lets move some games up north and see what happens

I don't know where you live, but the weather in Columbus was not much different than what it was in Pasadena yesterday. In addition, I doubt Michigan State could have beaten Alabama if they played the game in Anchorage, Alaska. Nice excuse, it just doesn't work anymore.

I really think oversigning is the biggest advantage for the SEC. Basically getting an extra recruiting class every 4 years is a huge advantage, whether the SEC fans want to admit it or not.

Its not just Notre Dame fans. The only people not talking a bunch of shit about the Big Ten are delusional Big Ten fans who are making excuses for yesterday. Things like they were underdogs so it was expected, they have so many tie ins to bowls they get bad matchups, etc etc etc.

See post #35 with the guy going with the weather excuse and lack of a CCG.
  • ytownfootball
See post #38 & #39 as an example of dudes sporting wood for having no affiliation whatsoever to what's happening. Lol...Jesus, I don't care about conference comparisons, it's not even your conference being discussed and you're both running around like 12 year olds with a stiff peen. Sorry shit man, sorry shit.

...and nobody said it was "just" ND fans, just that he had relatives that were...you still can't comprehend shit

The conference doesn't need a damn fix, ridiculous assertion to begin with.

Big 10 teams need to be built for power, not because of weather, but because failure to do so means a higher probability of getting your ass handed to you by teams that do ie Wiscy, Iowa PSU, if you don't win the conference you ain't winning anything else, so you build to accomplish goal #1...win the Big 10.

it's a fact, not an excuse...fuck the weather argument.

Which conference is "my" conference exactly?

What is for me to comprehend other than you must have a lot of experience with 12 year olds with "stiff peen"?
  • ytownfootball
    ND...the conference of one

LOl...you've been looking to argue with OSU fans since 1-1-11 went down, and we haven't even played yet. Cool your jets man, it's not necessary for you to post antagonism on every fucking thread...give it a rest.
  • karen lotz
I haven't said a word about Ohio State so I don't know where you are getting that from? Again, making excuses for the Big Ten's performance like some on here have is a joke. A lot of people get on SEC fans for having pride in their conference when they do the basically the same thing. The only difference is SEC fans are beating their chests because the SEC is good and Big Ten fans are making excuses for failure.
  • karen lotz
Also, conference of one? Are you unable to comprehend what Independent means?
  • KnightRyder
they need to stop scheduling all these tomato non conference tomato cans. geez your playing in the big ten you have enough tomato cans and sub tomato cans bulit into the schedule, how many more do you need. start making the schedule more difficult. if your playing better teams you have to get better to beat them.

Didn't read this whole thread, but saw a comment about weather in the Big 10.

That's the biggest crock of bullshit around. College football is not played in cold weather. Why this continues to be used as an excuse is beyond me.

    Can't have this
