Fellow OSU fans, I have a question.

This is where you are wrong...the gold pants are not a "symbol" they are a tangible link to a storied program and rivalry that has been documented to be the "Greatest Rivalry in All Sports". To sell them or refer to them as "trinkets" by anyone who ever actually earned a pair is punishable by being shunned by Buckeye Nation for life. No pardons, no apologies accepted. Just move on and get out of our consiousness.queencitybuckeye;614496 wrote:Some people don't give a damn about symbols (I'm one of them). While I would have taken great pride in accomplishing a Big-10 title or a win over the Maizre and Blow, any sort of trophy would now be in a box or a drawer somewhere, or have been given away. -
ThinthickbigredYou know we brought this kid in Pryor under a mini spectacle on ESPN "the decision" remember........hmmm Labon remember that guy .....Oh and a few weeks back Pryor asked the OSU fans not to booo Lebon at an OSU game.... Pryor also stuck up for Vick a QB he idolises ...see where I am getting at .... I had reservations with this kid from the beginning .... We benched our very good starting QB so this mini Lebon could start as a freshman ... remember that ?.......This kid a few weeks ago said he would flourish in the Auburn system ... hmmmm thanks for helping our future recruiting efforts mini Lebon.....I am sure that these guys could easily get good paying jobs from anybody and probably would not have to work a lick ,just answer a phone or something...These guys knew it was wrong . Even though the rules are sometimes stupid and I think they ought to be able to sell there own stuff ... It is still America isnt it ... I am insulted that they would sell there Big Ten rings and the michigan pants ... Those things are tradition and the Big Ten title well must not mean that much huh ....I wonder if a kid from Indiana or Northwestern would sell there rings.....We should have left little Lebon in western PA ..That dude is going absolutly nowhere ...He wont sit he will leave cause he isnt very intellegent anyway ..If he were smart he would stay sit out the 5 games and tighten his game and redeem his reputation ..It will cost little Lebon a small fortune if he leaves now ,and besides NFL might be out next year .. All the first 5 games next year are winnable without him .. Miami has a coaching change and Mich state will be revamped ..Nebraska we would need a full team and he would have 5 extra weeks to get ready for one opponent Nebraska ...Personnally I dont really care that much except I want a national title and we got little Lebon on those hopes ...He still has a small window to bring us this ...He owes Ohio State now more than ever .. Lets see wha

vball10set^^^you may have some good points in there, but I was getting a headache trying to read it--sorry

thedynasty1998Good post and all good points. From day one this guy was a huge egomaniac.
As for the gold pants, I understand why some OSU fans think it's despicable, but that's really not the bigger issue. It's doing something you knew was wrong and hoping to get away with it. -

I've actually held them in my hands, while you, the great insider, have never actually seen a pair. Without the symbolism, I've gotten higher quality merchandise out of one of those claw machines. -

This I agree with.

Actually, yes it does. I am an Ohio State University fan. Not just a football fan. I am an Alum. These players did something VERY stupid. They used NO common sense. Was it THAT bad? No, it was not. But it was enough to put a bad light on the university I love. How many people would give their right arm for the opportunity to get a FULL scholarship to the university they love? How many people would give a left nut to run out of the tunnel in front of 100K fans screaming and rooting FOR them!? How many would luv, adore and keep Gold Pants for their lifetime? Most NEVER get this chance. Well, they did, and they pissed it out the window like it was nothing to them. For a measly handful of money that within two years, would be pocket change to them. So it was tough being a college student...so fucking what, its tough for MOST college students. These players get so many perks, are set for LIFE when they leave OSU. Why? Because its OSU. The spit at OSU like it was nothing. Will I forgive them? Absolutely, I'll get over it. But just like with Troy Smith, I'll NEVER forget what they have done to a great university. -

Be NiceHey, I'm pissed to. I only got $19.00 on Ebay for those gold pants I bought from TP.

I agree that it is a privilege to play for OSU. However, this is a very very poor argument. For those people that would give their left nut, why didn't they work harder to accomplish that goal? It's really easy to say things like that and to ignore the sacrifices, dedication and hard work that many of these student athletes put in to accomplish that goal. I just hate when people say things like, "I would give my left nut to run out of that tunnel." Well who stopped you? You should have went out and done something to accomplish it if it's that big of a goal of yours.
As for the full scholarship, you should have excelled more academically, if it was that big of a goal and you weren't blessed athletically.
Just makes people sound lazy. -

You really that fucking cluessless with those above statement? LOL YOu do realize that some people aren't born to be 6'6", 250lbs of athlete, don't you? You do realize that hard work doesn't just give you an academic scholarship, don't you? Do you even know what it takes to get an academic scholarship? I doubt it. Hard work? You probably have no clue what hard work really is. Its not about practice, the weight room, etc, etc. Every athlete does that these days. The term hard work is more then just that pal. So don't feed me that bullshit.thedynasty1998;614582 wrote:I agree that it is a privilege to play for OSU. However, this is a very very poor argument. Makes people sound lazy? First mistake is taking what people say and assuming who they are, or how they are. I didn't get to where I am in my life by being lazy pal, and many others could say the same.
BOTTOM LINE is THIS: These players were BORN with a GIFT that MOST are not. They took it for granted and pissed it out the window. Did hard work help them, sure it did. But MOST could work 10x as hard and never get to where they are. They were given something, and took it for granted. PERIOD.
What complete ignorant statements on your part. You are the typical 20something who thinks they have life figured out. -

No, I don't think I have it figured out. And I was fortunate enough to be blessed with great size in regards to basketball. But guess what, I also understand that the only thing that stopped me from playing at Ohio State is my own personal hard work and attitude. If that was truly a goal of mine, I should have worked harder to accomplish that. But guess what, I'm not going to say, "I'd give my left nut to have what those guys have."
As for your exaggeration on size, get over it. Not everyone on the OSU roster is 6'6" and 250 lbs. Sure genetics play a role, but if you truly had that goal, go become the best punter in the country or kicker. Football is a great sport because there is a position for everyone. You are fat, you play offensive line. You are tall, you can play TE or WR. You are slow, you can play MLB or DT.
Do yourself a favor and go look at the sizes of the players on the OSU roster and tell me how many are 6'6" 250 lbs.
Yes, I understand what it takes to get an academic scholarship as well. -
derek bomar^^^ you let fat kids spin-move you to death in practice, that's why you couldn't play at OSU

+2. Some of you are acting like they vandalized the WHAC and then urinated on the Block-O on the 50-yard line at the Shoe. -

Barclay - 5'10" 204 lbs
Basil - 6'1" 206 lbs
Boren - 6'0" 252 lbs
Cech - 6'2" 186 lbs
Durham - 6'1" 231 lbs
Schwartz - 6'0" 210 lbs
Roby - 5'11" 176 lbs
I get that it takes genetics to play at OSU, but the line "I'd give anything to play at OSU" is a poor excuse. -

thedynasty1998I had a coach who used to tell me a story about Jack Nicklaus, and it was something like this:
Reporter: "You are so lucky. I'd give anything to be in your situation."
Nicklaus: "Bullshit. I don't see you out there hitting balls for 12 hours every single day until your hands are bleeding." -
Tiger2003Who the fuck cares if they sold their Gold Pants or their Big Ten Championship Rings. Shit as of right now they all have 3 of each. I really don't think any of them are pieces of shit. Do I think they messed up yes but I guess I am one of the few who wishes all of them were starting game 1 in the 2011 season. I look at what they have done on the field and these guys have brought us.
3 Big Ten Titles
3 Wins over Michigan
3 BCS Bowls
1 Rose Bowl Victory -

Then why aren't you in the NBA right now? Or why didn't you play/get a scholarship to a big time D1 school? Oh, you just didn't work hard enough did you? Was that it? If not, what is your "excuse"?
Wait, maybe you just weren't smart enough to figure out that you had to work that hard to get there, was that it? Which meant you probably weren't smart enough to get an academic scholarship seeing as you couldn't figure out what it took to do the above.
I get it now. -

We get that it takes HARD work to get to the level or some. No FUCKING SHIT sherlock! But guys like Nicklaus, Jordan and LaBron were BORN with natural ABILITY that MOST are not. That is a FACT. -

You really are a moron. Did you even read my post?
It's really hard discussing something with you at times. First off, no one said anything about professional sports, we were talking about a full ride in college. Secondly, I answered your question. I could make plenty of excuses, but yes, I didn't work hard enough.
Not even sure what you are trying to say in your second paragraph. -

Of course some are blessed with more ability than others. You really are simple minded. And no one was talking about two of the greatest athletes to play the game. Great example's. And no, Jack Nicklaus was not blessed with any more ability than anyone else. -
thedynasty1998Love how this discussion went from "running out of the tunnel in front of 100k" to being compared to Jordan and "LaBron".
Would love to understand that thought process.... -
