I agree, but you could use the tournament argument the other way. There is a tournament at the end of the season, so what's the harm in losing a few games early in the season.Writerbuckeye;615707 wrote:I honestly don't get the whining and bashing about the schedule for BASKETBALL.
There's a tournament that decides this sport so IT DOESN'T MATTER who you play early. In the end, the winner is decided on the court. Not to mention the team being discussed is in one of the best conferences in the country; so they'll be tested plenty in the coming months.
So let coaches schedule how they feel is best for their teams and to keep the athletic department in the black.
Good God, if you want something to bitch about, go find a thread on the NCAA's ridiculous rules and uneven enforcement, or one of the thousands of discussions that rip on the BCS and its format.
Oh wait, then you wouldn't get a chance to bash OSU, now would you?
Never mind. -
royal_kmore losses = lower seed
-
JesterOr if you're good enough, you win those tough early season games and get a higher seed.

But it's a tournament, so it doesn't really matter.
The OOC schedule is over, so we can move past it. But there are advantages and disadvantages of playing a tougher OOC schedule. We can all agree to disagree on whether OSU does it the right way. -

Are you trying to say that your tournament seed doesn't matter?? Higher seed, easier road.thedynasty1998;615762 wrote:But it's a tournament, so it doesn't really matter.

I know it does technically. But does it really matter? And who is to say Ohio State wouldn't have built their resume? One of the biggest factors the NCAA committee looks at is strength of schedule. -

Good point.
I'm on the side of playing a tough OOC schedule. My only point was higher seed is usually the easier road. Not to mention, a possible 1 seed would more than likely be the midwest regional. -

SOS will be fine after they go through their league schedule.thedynasty1998;615775 wrote:I know it does technically. But does it really matter? And who is to say Ohio State wouldn't have built their resume? One of the biggest factors the NCAA committee looks at is strength of schedule. -

I get it. But so with everyone in the Big East and the Pac 10. -

I honestly don't think the Pac 10 will have a strong SOS at the end of the season. At this point in the season, you are probably looking at two NCAA locks (Washington and Arizona) and one probable (Washington State). -

That wasn't my point. Everyone that plays a weak OOC schedule relies on their conference schedule to boost their SOS. -

I think he actually meant Big 12. Pac 10 is horrid.HeathAlum21;615907 wrote:I honestly don't think the Pac 10 will have a strong SOS at the end of the season. At this point in the season, you are probably looking at two NCAA locks (Washington and Arizona) and one probable (Washington State). -

I wasn't trying to jump on you or anything of that nature; I was merely discussing your post. I agree with your conference premise though. -
hoops23Again, WHO CARES about SOS? It's as if people think OSU's OOC SOS will prevent them from winning a title?
If OSU is good enough, they will win a title. They've played a few solid OOC games as it is, but the Big Ten schedule will provide a stiff enough test to get them battle tested and ready to go once Tourney time comes.
The most important stat is winning, and winning breeds winning. This schedule was set up so OSU faced a couple of solid teams on the road (FSU, FLA) and a couple of teams at home (SC, Oakland).. Then, the rest was a bunch of teams who Thad knew they'd walk over. This develops confidence, experience, and allows players to get into different situations/game time that they may have not seen otherwise.
OSU is as talented as anyone in the country, but they needed to develop that talent. Sullinger, Thomas, and Craft needed these types of games.
Hell, even IF OSU is good enough to win a title, they may not. That's why they call it March Madness. -

Did Furman really beat X? Please, give this thread a break until X comes out with a more competitive product themselves.
You are dumb as shit. What the hell are you talking about Furman for? Furman would never beat Xavier.
WHY is everything I say then have Xavier brought up about it for fuck's sake?!?!?
IF you would like to talk about Xavier's strength of schedule, it is 39. So you can blow me. And my bet is OSU's and X's aren't more than +/- 10 by the end of the year.
When I fucking respond in an OSU thread it is to talk about OSU. If you want to talk about Xavier fucking University basketball you can start a new thread and maybe I will respond. I'm hardly ever the one who brings up Xavier on here. -
gerb131Hit 100 thats what I was hoping for.

Dumb, I'm not the one with the vocabulary problem. Let's just see where X is at the end of the year and where OSU is at the end. And, like you, I can post on whatever subject I want to on here. The last I checked, this is an opinion board. Personally, I like X too but people like you don't represent them with much class.CinciX12;615994 wrote:You are dumb as shit. cbus4lifeI'll always be an X fan, if only because of the fact that they seem to hate UC as much as i do.

What an ignorant ugly mouth, does everyone with a X education have such an ugly mouth? -

And you've been directed to and shown OSU's triple digit SOS. Here is the link, again.

Duke's SOS will drop like a rock from here on out, the ACC is terrible, Duke the only team in the Top 40. Ohio State's SOS will climb through out the Big Ten season, with so many teams in theTop 25.
Thanks for playin, see ya in March. -

Can I assume you think OSU is the 22nd best team in the country? It sounds like that's what you're saying.
