Monday: Tennessee-Martin (4-8) at Ohio State (12-0)

JesterI'd make a prediction, but evidently if you're not spot on you're attacked for it.

CinciX12Because Matta coached at Xavier I'm not allowed to say he is crazy for acting like going undefeated with this schedule is a big deal?
Seriously the majority of you can go fuck yourself. -

I just like messing with you.
X wasn't just a stepping stone for matta, as miller left for greener pastures too.
I hate the bucks sched too, but it is what it is. Big ten play will be enough of a test for us. -
se-alumI don't mind the schedule. You can tell that the team has took this time to learn how to play together. Sure, it would be nice to have a game against a top team in there, but it is what it is. They will be battle tested going through the Big Ten, and SOS won't be a problem come Selection Sunday. I don't see why it matters what point of a season a team is tested, as long as they're ready for March.

As far as this #296 juggernaut, they let their opponents (SOS=299) shoot at a clip over 55%. Should be uhh..interesting?
UC should be really proud then if they go undefeated in the non-conference.
And seriously, look at Ohio State's past few years of non-conference games. I think we can stop with the "everybody does it" excuse when obviously Ohio State hasn't done it over the last few years. Playing at least 3 ranked non-conference teams(at the time of the game) every year but one when they played 2 plus WVU and Butler. This schedule is WAY more soft than any OSU schedule in recent memory, so you can throw that excuse out the window. -
Terry_TateOhio State up 33-10 with 7 minutes left in the first half. Hot shooting early.

namod65If it was Duke playing this terrible UTM team tonight we'd be hearing on here about how they've got the greatest team in college basketball since the last time they made that claim. Oh wait... they've already done that this year.
-
PrescottNext up for the Buckeyes, Bill's Beer and Wine, a top-notch club that plays it's home games at Berliner.

Yes, after completing the national championship game nine months ago with the most points. If it was Duke playing this terrible UTM team tonight we'd be hearing on here about how they've got the greatest team in college basketball since the last time they made that claim. Oh wait... they've already done that this year.
What exactly was your post in reference to, namod? -

It doesn't take a loss to figure that stuff out. A good coach can tell you his team's weaknesses from watching practice. So you might as well take the win. -
Big GainPrescott;614507 wrote:Why are you confused. Competing with, but losing to a very good team is more impressive than destroying a Tennessee-Martin, a UNC-Asheville, a........Get the point?.
Your point is pointless. I already showed you where every team you said had a difficult non-conference schedule played 67% nobodies. -
Big Gainthedynasty1998;614542 wrote:We all get the scheduling issue, but this excuse by you is getting really really old. Just because others do it doesn't mean it is okay.
SO......you think Ohio State should be the only school in the country that plays 50% of their non-conference schedule against top 25 teams, when everyone else plays 67% nobodies? That doesn't seem okay. -
Big Gainthedynasty1998;614562 wrote:I wasn't even on here complaining. I've accepted it. I hope it changes in the future, but it is what it is.
You continue to use the same excuse "well others do it, so it's okay". No one here is talking about anyone else. People are concerned with OSU and OSU only.
Everyone understands that it's all about revenue, however, that doesn't mean people can't complain about it, when OSU is playing Tennessee-Martin. Because there's really not much to talk about regarding the game other than coming out of the game without any injuries.
BTW, SportsandLady's quote regarding the tattoos is far better than yours.
Only the whiners are whining about the schedule. If Ohio State played the most difficult schedule in the country the whiners would be whining about something else. Whiners must whine, they can't help themselves. -
Prescott
Please. Noobdy and no coach, no mater how good, can duplicate game conditions in practice. It doesn't take a loss to figure that stuff out. A good coach can tell you his team's weaknesses from watching practice. So you might as well take the win.
And you've been directed to and shown OSU's triple digit SOS. Here is the link, again.I already showed you where every team you said had a difficult non-conference schedule played 67% nobodies.

Questionable "pretty good" major conferences teams don't lose to Furman by 16. (Furman lost to Penn State and Kent State).Midstate01;614516 wrote:Poor cincix is still butt hurt from matta leaving x.
I hate osu's schedule too. But they went to Florida and got two wins. Beat a pretty good USC team badly. I'm pleased and ready for big ten play. -
BlanketBesides Florida and Florida State, did they play anybody above a High School talent level in their non conference schedule?
-
Scarlet_FeverBlanket;615468 wrote:Besides Florida and Florida State, did they play anybody above a High School talent level in their non conference schedule?
Yes South Carolina and Oakland. Outside of that probably not. However, since there is a tournament it really doesn't matter. They will play some tough games in the Big Ten. -
thedynasty1998Tennessee-Martin was FAR worse than anything I would have imagined. Ohio State would have been better off playing Wooster. At least Wooster, an in state school, would have benefited from the nice pay day.

vball10setWhat I took from last night was that after his performance, Buford should have gained some much needed confidence going into the BT season, and that the young guys who don't see the floor until mop-up time got some early quality minutes...other than that, UT-M was awful--I'm just glad nobody got hurt.

They were undefeated when osu played them. That's all that matters. -
Red SaulWho in the Big 10 will really challange Ohio State other than Purdue and Michigan State?

Minnesota has the size to give OSU problems.
I don't think Purdue is at OSU's level and at this point. -
CinciX12Midstate01;615578 wrote:They were undefeated when osu played them. That's all that matters.
The stupidity of that is amazing. Florida had played 1 god damn game. Lets all go and brag about beating a team that was 1-0. 200 teams give or take will be lining up to do that.
Florida State and South Carolina were not undefeated when OSU played them either. So basically lets take a step back and allow another argument to come up in your head that doesn't fall flat on its face. -
WriterbuckeyeI honestly don't get the whining and bashing about the schedule for BASKETBALL.
There's a tournament that decides this sport so IT DOESN'T MATTER who you play early. In the end, the winner is decided on the court. Not to mention the team being discussed is in one of the best conferences in the country; so they'll be tested plenty in the coming months.
So let coaches schedule how they feel is best for their teams and to keep the athletic department in the black.
Good God, if you want something to bitch about, go find a thread on the NCAA's ridiculous rules and uneven enforcement, or one of the thousands of discussions that rip on the BCS and its format.
Oh wait, then you wouldn't get a chance to bash OSU, now would you?
Never mind. -
Ankle BreakerCinciX > let's get back on here at the end of the season and talk SOS. I wish the OOC schedule were a little tougher too but let's look at where OSU ranks in March. Did Furman really beat X? Please, give this thread a break until X comes out with a more competitive product themselves.
