Should Tressel boot the "Six Prix" or let 'em play in the Sugar?

  • Tiernan
I'm not buying one iota of the "I did it for my family" BS and personally want to see these pricks (yes that's exactly what they are for screwing their teammates, coaches and fans) booted from paying in the Bowl game no matter what the NCAA says. How do the rest of you feel?

Kick them all off the team, immediately and revoke any scholarships they have. It's obvious they have no interest in OSU, in it's traditions, in it's pride...nothing. Let them begin the next phase of their lives.

    Who was #6?
  • stroups
Jordan whiting, he was only a special teams player. He just has to sit out the first game next year because I don't think he sold anything.

I'm one of the few that aren't that mad at these guys, at least not yet. If they play in the Sugar Bowl and half ass it because they are headed to the NFL then I will be pissed. They are idiot kids and should have known better, but it isn't like they got $180,000 to play for Ohio State. And I wish they would care about their Gold Pants and what not, but I'm not naive enough to think these guys give a fuck about our team as much as we do. I just want them to play hard and play smart on the field. If they don't do that as a result of this, then fuck them, I wouldn't even renew their scholarship if they don't want to go to the NFL.

I think people are making to big of a deal about this. They sold the stuff that in all reallity belongs to them. Anyone can say that the university owns it but they dont. I coach college athletics and this is not a big deal. IMO the ncaa is trying to look tough after they have dropped the ball so far on the cam newton thing. These young kids 19, 20 years old wanted money instead of gold pants or a big ten ring that they shared with another team . That is up to them not for us to get all bent out of shape about.

In answering the question i would say hold them from the sugar bowl since you are appealing the suspension and hope they count this game and reduce it as well.

1.I think the rule is stupid
    2. But, they broke the rule
    3. I think they knew they were breaking the rule
    4. Tressel should suspend them right now. No Sugar Bowl.

The punishment already grossly exceeds the crime, IMO. Play ball.

Please tell me where you coach so no kid I know ever goes there. Anyone coaching college atletics should understand commitment and loyalty to the program supercede individual gain. Maybe you young coaches represent what is wrong with college athletics and us old school guys are just dinosaurs. If so, I'll die an old dinosaur content I know right from wrong.

I didnt realize a $100,000 education is just some "rat ass" thing that is just given out.

Dont throw every kid in the same boat, all kids are brought up different.

I am more disappointed in the fact that these guys were selling the Big Ten title rings and the michigan sweatpants .... This gives the other Big Ten teams that much more bullitin board stuff for next year if these guys stay on .... Pryor is in a bad spot cause he isnt ready for the NFL at all ... I have grown to be more skeptical of his behavior for awhile now ...Wish we didnt get him now ...He just keeps running his mouth and now this ... Those guys knew it was wrong .. How did they get caught anyway ? I do believe however the 5 games is way too much ..It was theyre own stuff ,even though I find it offensive as an Ohio state fan it is in fact theyre own stuff . maybe a 2 game suspension is more suitable . Or hey they could have suspended them for the Sugar bowl ...Now we are surely going to lose that game against a much superior state in Arkansas ..I mean we all know they have much greater high school football in Arkansas than Ohio ...i am sick of this crap ...Another ####### lose to an SEC frigging team and it just keeps getting better ...son of a #####!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad that i wouldnt have to coach any offspring of yours. You are probably one of those parents that think they always know better than the coach but never has the balls to say something to them. that is because deep down you know you are full of shit .

Back to topic you are looking to much as a fan. Whinning that they sold their championship rings and ect. WHO really cares its not yours. You are thinking to much as a fan Take a step back. THEY SOLD THEIR OWN STUFF. How does someone selling their stuff ruin their loyalty to a program or commitment? it doesnt. THey dont have to have the rings and gold pants they lived it . the fans make to much over this stuff. Why do you think JT isnt upset and letting them play in the bowl game and want a reduced. Its a dumb rule by the NCAA period. Every coach in the NCAA knows this. If you are to small minded to realize it i cant helpt you

    Agreed.

Agreed, except I don't think they should play in the Sugar Bowl; if they are going to be suspended, the Sugar Bowl should count as one of those games suspended. I am a Buckeye fan, but also an objective fan of the college football game and they broke a rule (no matter how stupid it is) and should have to face the consequences. This is how life works for everyone.

Regardless of it's a dumb rule, it is a rule and basically everyone knows of the rule. Just because it's stupid doesn't mean everyone should break it.

i didnt say that they should break it. I said that everyone needs to relax on the take their scholly and kick them to the curb mentality. In the grand scheme of life its not a big deal they sold their stuff. People are overreacting. Should they be punished yeah. Not 5 games worth. I didnt think Aj green should have gotten 4 games either .

Agreed about AJ Green. I couldn't believe he got 4 games, and I still don't understand how any of these these violations are worth 4 games. That being said, Green's violation was worse because he sold his jersey to an agent or agent-type individual. Now with the OSU players, a similar but lesser infraction gets more games. That just doesn't make sense to me at all.

Are you saying that because many of them are physical education majors?

No one is forcing them to play football. If it's such a fucking hardship like you say it is, then don't do it.
  • FatHobbit
It's a fucking joke that the ncaa is letting them play in the bowl game, but I think a lot of people are over reacting to this. It was a mistake and they are going to pay for it. I won't be upset if Tressel makes them earn their positions back or if they lose them, or whatever punishment he sees to fit to hand out, but I'm not going to hate them. They didn't even commit a crime.

I also don't believe for one second that they are so poor they had to sell that stuff. That's a BS excuse if I ever heard one.

Don't worry my kids would never be involved with synchronized swimming which is what I'm sure a candy-ass like you coaches.
  • vball10set
ban them from the Sugar Bowl (they don't deserve a trip to New Orleans), but reduce their suspensions next year from five games down to two...let the punishment fit the crime, and IMO, a 3 game suspension is sufficient

Tressel is gonna let them play. But they must wear black helmets. That's a solid decision.
