Suspended! OSU players Pryor, Adams. Herron, Posey and Thomas. How many...

jordo212000Cowherd was just kind of echoing ewok's statements earlier. Said that if this is "it" for Pryor, he really had a disappointing career. As heralded as he was coming in, he basically amounted to a fast-Trent Dilfer. A game manager who's main job is to not lose the game. Never really was all that explosive as a passer or a runner, and I think that was a mistake by Tress. He was gifted with great speed and size and we relegated him to a pocket passer

This is precisely what I'm most concerned about. Reasonable people know they shouldn't be buying this stuff from amateurs - who the heck were they dealing with? If the worst thing is a 5 game suspension OSU will get off easy. -
jordo212000september63;611614 wrote:Its all about the $$$$. Ironically, the players were suspended for trying to get a little extra $$$. The NCAA lets them play in Sugar Bowl so they (NCAA) can make more $$$
You mean the BCS. Sure, the NCAA is partly responsible because they are the "official" governing body, but the BCS has the NCAA by the balls. -

This could get ugly. -

agreed--I don't think this is by any means over yet -
zambrownI must confess the headline made me chuckle a bit, given that OSU under Coach Tressel is supposed to be squeeky clean and all. But even I have to say that 5 games seems a bit much having just experienced "Newton-gate" as it were. Like many of you, I can't imagine selling a Big 10 Championship ring or gold pants that I personally earned on the field, but I guess these guys don't hold them in such high esteem. In any case, it is just another example for why I'm so happy Michigan didn't win the "bidding war" for Pryor. Dudes clearly an idiot.

darbypitcher22It would make sens that eventhough these guys are elibigle to play the game, that Tress would just suspend them and take whatever ass beating we get from Arkansas and make an example

I kind of hope we don't play any of them either. For one, it might help us with the NCAA in the future if more crap hits the fan, and plus we don't need guys like this on the team. Cut bait and move on.
If you play them you almost excuse this sort of behavior and you make the statement that "winning/money is most important" -
tk421Yes, I've heard that the FBI is investigating this tattoo parlor. If so, that's going to be even more trouble for these players and the Buckeyes. The NCAA may be corrupt and inconsistent in their punishments, but the Feds don't fuck around.

Agreed. I think Tressel washes his hands clean of these guys and moves on. No way can he let them play, especially considering the types of things Pryor sold - it more or less says he could care less about OSU or the team. It's all about him, and Tress doesn't stand for things like that. -

darbypitcher22yeah I'm wondering what connection the feds and everyone has to this tatoo parlor... obviously something real bad. I hope these guys aren't wrapped up in all the legal stuff-- with as hypocritical as the NCAA is they could decide to make us vacate wins and stupid BS but they let Bush and USC keep their title
-
tk421Rumors have the IRS involved too, if so that's even worse than just an FBI investigation, I'd think. You get involved with a group of people involved in some kind of tax fraud/evasion, you're screwed.

The NCAA does not formally recognize a national champion in football, so it's not up to them. The BCS is the only one who can take it away. -
darbypitcher22^^^^
yes I know this, but it just seems like things always happen and to the worst possible level w/ Ohio State while other institutions get off easy -

Exactly Darby. As I told basically everyone I've talked to, stick it to the NCAA and BCS and suspend them from the Sugar Bowl, first and foremost. The NCAA is keeping them eligible for the Sugar Bowl just because they don't want to lose any marketable players and all the money they will draw in. Also, I don't want to watch these scum bags anymore. I'd much rather watch Kenny Guiton play QB in a loss than Pryor in a win. Same goes with Herron, Adams, Posey, and Thomas. Don't reward these idiots by letting them play in the bowl game. -

Rumours are rumours, but something more has to be up - there aren't enough $$$ involved for even these jackwagons to get caught. It isn't as if Pryor sold gold pants and turned around a bought a 5 series. -

I couldn't agree more--the apathy I feel for these guys couldn't go any deeper, so the sooner they're out of sight the better.charliehustle14;611681 wrote:Exactly Darby. ts1227Gee made it well known that he's a hardcore BCS guy when he opened his mouth and inserted his foot a few weeks back. I don't really see there being any motivation to stick it to anyone.
I can see Tressel keeping them out just because of how he is, but I doubt there's any edict coming down from the top. -
september63I dont think any Buckeyes fan really wants any of these guys playing in the Sugar Bowl!!
-
friendfromlowryWas there any word on what tattoo parlor it was in Columbus? Just curious, I don't live anywhere near and wouldn't know one from the other...but I'm surprised the place hasn't been burned to the ground yet.
-
otter84Since the IRS is now involved, I hope they all plan on paying taxes on these amounts!

I'd guess that those who have dropped several thousand for a game package may differ.
