-
2quik4uVince Young
nothing compares to his national title performance -
johngrizzlyVince Young because he beat Ohio State in the Shoe and he said it was the loudest place he had ever been.
Thread over. -

Seriously? -
cats gone wildI put T. Tebow. He had the best 4 year span out of any QB to ever play college football. Best season ever would go to Cam Newton.
-
MulvaNewton is a better passer, Vince was a better rusher.

Just wanted to summarize the thread before it all got started. The thread would have ended up, or still might, how loud the Shoe was that night. Completely off the topic but I know how shit rolls here. -
jhay78Ask me after Jan 10. Cam Newton is well on his way to topping V. Young, and who is this Tim Tebow y'all are speaking of?
-
TiernanLet's see...ones a Liar and the other's a Crier. In the long run the Liar will probably make a better pro player.

of course you would--you're a frickin' idiot...now please, go away -
lhslep134If you're going to put Tebow as an option it's clearly him.
Back to the topic, I think it's gotta be Cam if you're talking about just 1 season, Vince if you're talking about career body of work. Vince Young was great in college, but Cam is having a season for the ages. -
cats gone wildvball=stalker. Give it up dude, and quit following me around. You are an embarrassment to OSU posters and sleeper is a notch better. Cant believe that you being on my ignore list bothers you that bad. I notice that you have been one of the recent people to view my profile. Quit being ghey. This will be the last time I respond to you, ever.
And, T. Tebow was the best college QB in football ever. Any one with a brain or knowledge of college football would know that. Guess that leaves you out. -

I'm pretty sure (you mentioned this on another thread about our disagreements) the only thing we really disagree on is the overall strength of the SEC. You care more about the conference so you're more apt to defend it, whereas since Florida is my #2 team I don't really give a shit about knowing the conference inside and out like you do (or how I do with the B10). -
norwalkVY, not even close. Not only did Texas go through a tough Big12, he beat tOSU (Love or hate the Buckeyes they had a top 5-10 team) and then beat a loaded USC team in their backyard. I just don't see the level of competition being there for Cam. Newton is without a doubt up there for having one of the top seasons ever, I personally think VY did more against better competition.

Come on dude. LSU has one of the best defenses in the entire country with possibly 5 or 6 guys that will end up playing on Sundays, Alabama is the defending champs and has several NFLers on the defensive side of the ball, and Arkansas is playing in a BCS bowl as well.
If you want to believe VY is better fine, your opinion, but to say the level of competition isn't there for Cam is honestly one of the most absurd things I've read on here in a while that isn't trolling. -
norwalkYou comparing those defenses to USC's and Ohio States? That's fine, Alabama is young (you know they replaced like 9 starters from the defending champs team you must still be remembering) and may have future NFL players but to compare Bama this year to last year is a joke.
Do those USC or Ohio State teams not win the SEC that year? Without researching those two teams alone are better than any team Auburn faced this year. Plus Auburn has to win still (which I think they do because Cam will not let them lose). -

And to add.....
Auburn won 6 games vs. currently ranked teams and Auburn really didnt have much talent surrounding Cam besides his offensive line and Nick Fairley on defense. Without Cam, Auburn might be .500 (since they had alot of comeback wins). Vince had talent all around him. -

Not in the day and age when freshman come in and contribute right away and defenses like Alabama's replace NFL caliber players with more NFL caliber players. Young defense does not equal untalented defense.
That "vaunted" USC defense gave up 40+ points. Sorry, don't care how good your offense is, if you give up 40+ points your defense isn't that good. -
2quik4uyep keep trying to compare a bunch of two loss sec teams to a team that had two heisman trophy winners 2 national titles and won 34 straight games
-
centralbucksfanRight now, Young is the better QB because has a ring and beat the unbeatable Trojans in a classic. If Newton wins title, then they are neck and neck IMO.
I am not sure some realize, but Young threw for 3000+ yds and 26 TD's AND rushed for over 1000yds and 12 TD's in 2005. Newton has more yards rushing and more TD's...but also playing in a much different QB running system than Young did.
AND, if you look at the Texas offense that year, they put up some unreal numbes. Besides the title game, no one was within 20pts of them.
But the Ring is what seperates them currenlty IMO. -

Dude you're reading way too much into this. I haven't and am not discrediting Texas or Vince Young or USC. I said if USC's defense was so "vaunted" they wouldn't have given up 40+ points, that's all I said. I didn't say USC wasn't great or wasn't one of the all time great teams, but Vince didn't play against the USC offense, he played against a USC defense that got exposed, which you CANNOT deny.
All I was doing was crediting LSU and Alabama's defense and saying that it's absurd to think that Cam Newton hasn't been tested. I don't think the SEC is the best conference, but they do have arguably more talent than any other conference on the defensive side of the ball. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeStrictly speaking college football performance... Vince Young... and it ain't even close.
-
cats gone wildI remember the ESPN QB poll I posted in OCtober didnt even have Newton as a top 20 QB. He wasnt even on the list to be voted for.
