12/31 Sun Bowl: Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-5) vs. Miami Hurricanes (7-5)

Absolutely awesome game. Offense looked good from the beginning. Weren't getting anything in the running game...so they sliced them up in the air. When Tommy went into his post-first quarter slump, the running game bailed them out.

Defense was crazy good. I take back all the bad things I wished on Harrison Smith, his family, and his unborn children. Still not sure who that guy was that was wearing Smith's uniform...but he can keep it, and keep the other Harrison locked up in whatever El Paso closet he was forced into.

    Can't wait for next season!

Wishful thinking. He is NFL ready right now.

I said that after he tried a diving one handed catch in the end zone and was unsuccessful. Sarcasm. Really the only question mark for him is his top end speed, and another year at ND isn't going to improve that very much if any at all. I and every other Notre Dame fan would LOVE for him to come back, but its not going to happen.

Nice win over a team with absolutely no leadership...Congrats?

    Nice win for the Irish

Miami is awful, I dont think I have ever seen a team that undisciplined

    That will suffice. Thanks.

Thanks. Hard to imagine that team is the same one that was talked up by some OSU fans all off season and into early September isn't it?

    Nice win for ND.

On another note, how bad is Jacory Harris....

Despite Miami's implosion and subsequent relegation to mediocrity midseason, ND fans I'm certain care very little. The monkey is off their back temporarily. It's a step in the right direction. The Domers pretty much dismantled the U which is what should be expected when you're the better team. Gotta give credit where it's due.

Teams change through the course of a season. Look at ND, the team that was on the field yesterday was much better than the one that lost to Navy and Tulsa

not really--you need to look no further than Iowa to see how teams that are perceived in the pre-season to be top 10 caliber seem to regress as the season progresses....IMO, Notre Dame looked better than Miami looked bad.

Definitely some classy comments on here. Thanks to vball and others. Happy New Year, fellas.

Ytown-What "monkey" are you talking about? Even though it was the Hawaii Bowl......ND got the Bowl "monkey" off their back a couple years ago. Happy to say that they're actually on a 2 game win streak in Bowl games now (which is very nice after losing 9 straight). I'm just not sure what you're talking about.

Eh...even though it was a bowl win...Hawaii does not = Miami, regardless whether Miami appeared to be in shambles with coach fired and Harris playing poorly, this win will look better long term than a win over Hawaii who hardly garners any respect. Miami has athletes far superior to the rainbows...

This was a much better win.

When you haven't won a Bowl since 1994 and you lose 9 straight.....any Bowl win is a good one. Yesterday was a better Bowl win. That I agree with. But that one a couple years ago was big for ND. Gotta look at it in the proper context.

Really impressed by Notre Dame yesterday. I picked them in my confidence pool at work. Kelly has really gotten this team to turn around in the second half of the season. Totally owned Miami all day. Nice win for the Irish.

Toby I was JUST going to say something about it. Freaking joke.

Same thing happened last year up in Orlando (or Tampa)? against Wisconsin. Team from up north considers weather paradise while the spoiled Miamians are freezing.

Kinda like how I walked around NOLA in shorts earlier today and everyone was bundled up and I couldn't believe it.

    This is great.

Excellent win for ND and the program. This should really propell the Irish to better things and help Kelly in recruiting.

BTW Irish fans, here's a good reason to root for Oregon in the BCS title game:

Hahahaha.......I'm going to have to check it out on Youtube to see how bad this fool is getting clobbered.

lol dude said no run game for ND, but Miami would run all over ND... ND about doubled up on the Canes rushing-wise 196-103...Said the Canes would shut Mike Floyd down-- Floyd had two td's with the first 11 minutes lol. Said Miami's qb's would throw for 3-4 TD's and 300-400 yards, hope he meant 4 or more INT's
  • Hamp89
Great win, and an amazing finish to a season that looked like it was going to be another bad one. There's nothing better than beating the U...looking forward to next year already!

    He's baaaaaaaaack.

I don't mind being wrong about that at all. At the time of the game it didn't seem possible at all, even though I clearly said in that first post that he needed to come back. :)
