Notre Dame at Pitt
-
newarkcatholicfanThe only way PITT falls in this 0ne is if they play the name Notre Dame and not the team.
On the field Pitt is the better team. -
BigDaddyLipscombEven though it means nothing to Pitt as far as winning the Big East, this is a statement game for them. Stull doesn't even resemble the mess at QB he was last year, and Dion Lewis has people around here going, "LaShon who?" Given all that, ND's passing game is scary, but Pitt's defensive line should be enough to compensate for an okay secondary My guess is? Bet the over!!!
-
pbuckI've got Notre Dame in this contest
-
athlete37I'm taking Notre Dame in this in my second straight upset pick (last week I made a thread calling for Stanford to beat Oregon)
-
Hamp89How sad is it that IF ND wins, it would be the biggest win of Weis's career at ND? Unreal..

Crimson_Streakthe key in this game will be if Weis will open up the playbook and go down field throughout the whole game. none of this lets run the ball with 5.4 40 hughes. with that said Go Irish!
-
iwearblacknikesi hate notre dame and i would have to say they will lose this game..

Thank the good Lord. I've been saying this for weeks. IF (and it's an "IF" as big as Weis) Weis does this, I like ND's chances of going 3-0 the rest of the way. However, the same conservative BS playcalling early in games will find the Irish 1-2 or 0-3 in this last stretch.Crimson_Streak wrote: the key in this game will be if Weis will open up the playbook and go down field throughout the whole game. none of this lets run the ball with 5.4 40 hughes. with that said Go Irish! -

weis' playcalling is fine, he is calling great games. if you had any clue about the complexities of football you would realize this.Crimson_Streak wrote: the key in this game will be if Weis will open up the playbook and go down field throughout the whole game. none of this lets run the ball with 5.4 40 hughes. with that said Go Irish!
if not, you might believe he is "wasting plays with plodding hughes"
only notre dame tards or charlie weis haters complain about having the most effective offensive scheme in all of college football. -
rocket31"However, the same conservative BS playcalling early in games will find the Irish 1-2 or 0-3 in this last stretch."
yeah, id stick to bitching about weis, because it is blatantly obvious you have no idea how to call an effective game.
let me guess, you think we should throw the ball every down from a pro-set package? yeah...id love to see the performance of our defense with no time to rest. -
Hamp89I haven't really looked around much, but what's the word on Allen and Rudolph?

rocket3111th ranked offense
5th ranked passing offense

Cmhs74Gotta go with the Irish in this, only reason is the McCarthy brothers are Mooney alum

killer_ewokIf I'm a Weis hater.....then rocket31 is a tireless Weis defender. You're rambling on about the complexities of football and how to call a game. Then please.....enlighten us.
Those are great stats you posted. Funny that ND is one of the top passing teams yet they come out attempting to "establish the run" every game and don't end up throwing the ball downfield until later in the game when they have no choice, the defense knows it's coming......and ND STILL throws the ball effectively and scores. But let's come out for the first two and a half quarters running the ball and working the short passing game. The defense stinks. We know that, Weis knows that. ND has to win shootouts. "Ya' are what ya' are," remember? Weis himself said that. So quit trying to be a smash mouth team when you have 2 of the best WR's in college football, arguably the best TE in the country and a QB who was a Heisman candidate (and may still be).
Pro-set package? Passing every down? No, just taking more shots downfield before it's too late as opposed to the predictable running plays that sees defenders practically taking the handoff...... -

Rudolph is done until possibly a bowl game. No word on Allen.Hamp89 wrote: I haven't really looked around much, but what's the word on Allen and Rudolph? -
Goldenboy26Notre Dame fan here who read jj a lot but never posted, I already like this site better.
I think Notre Dame comes out strong saturday but I dont know if they will be able to stop Pitt enough to win the game. Red Zone offense MUST improve.
as far as Armando Allen goes from Brian Hamiltons Twitter page: As expected, C.Weis says Armando Allen should start at RB and Trevor Robinson should start at RG for #NotreDame vs. Pitt. -
sjmvsfscs08I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Notre Dame takes this one from the 'stache. I think Pitt is good, but who have they beaten that is terrific, or even good? They've beaten a bunch of average teams.
Notre Dame - 38
Pittsburgh - 35 -
Mr PatHow could you forget me?!

Umm, they beat Navy. On that other huddle thread you said that Pitt hasn't beaten any solid teams.....yet I quoted where you referred to Navy as a solid team after they beat ND. Which is it for Navy - solid or not? Also, why did Navy's status as an opponent change from one team to the next?sjmvsfscs08 wrote: I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Ouch, hopefully Ragone can pick up the slack. He made a few good plays vs. Navy.rock_knutne wrote:

I know I missed a bunch of the regular Irish fans in my original PM on the huddle - my apologies Mr.Pat! Welcome to the freehuddle..Mr Pat wrote: How could you forget me?! -
dwccrewI just don't think ND has what it takes to beat Pitt. Pitt is playing well right now and Charlie ain't cutting it. Time for a change in South Bend.
As much as I dislike the Irish, college football is more interesting when they are a top ten team. -
Mr Pat
Haha no problem, good to be here!Hamp89 wrote:

sjmvsfscs08Yes I do think Navy is a solid opponent. Pittsburgh beat them 27-14, I didn't watch thegame so I don't know how how dominant they were.
I did see a Notre Dame team give away twenty points, and give Navy nine. A twenty-nine-point swing would've made that game 41-14. I honestly feel the score of that game should have been in that neighborhood; I'm convinced so don't try to persuade me otherwise. However, I do understand the "woulda, coulda, shoulda" aspect of the game, I'm simply saying that if Notre Dame comes out firing on all cylinders (and yes, this would require Clausen to air it out and stretch the field), that Notre Dame takes this game by 10+.
