11/27 - Notre Dame (6-5) at USC (7-4)

Maybe you missed the point which BTW isn't suprising either. Alabama and Auburn were mediocre programs in the not so distant past BUT, the Iron Bowl was the biggest game on either teams schedule. Is that easier for you to understand? -

So making a comparison to another rivalry game is the definiton of "starting it"? You're fucking clueless! -
rock_knutnesjmvsfscs08;569275 wrote:What's the difference between Notre Dame thinking it'd be a huge win for the program playing a four-loss Southern Cal team, and Ohio State wishing they had beat a Southern Cal team last year that ended up with four losses too?
I've been saying it for more than a month, the similarities of Brian Kelly's first season and many other good first year coaches are there, and when comparing it to Jim Tressel's it's almost uncanny. Jim Tressel's first season for remarkable for one reason: he beat Michigan. Ohio State went into Ann Arbor (Note Dame is playing in Los Angeles) for that game at 6-4 (Notre Dame is 6-5), against a program that had dominated the series lately (Ohio State had beaten the Wolverines just FOUR TIMES since 1983, Southern Cal has won eight in a row after Notre Dame's great run in the series from 1983-2000)....but Tressel fucking won and the excitement was palpable in Ohio.
It is fucking time to right the ship. Neither of the close losses in 2005 or 2009 matter anymore.
Now, USC has looked very pedestrian this season. They are 7-4, and truthfully barely beat the likes of Hawai'i, Virginia, Minnesota, Arizona State and Arizona. Yeah. But throw that out the window because USC loves beating the shit out of the Irish. Will we see a tough Irish team roll into Compton and punch USC in the mouth? I think so; I really do. USC is going to have to run the ball to help Mustain out. I think Notre Dame's rush defense is up to the challenge.
But again, how will this offense play? Rees made some great throws last night, including some laser beams we haven't seen from him at all this season. Is Theo Riddick back? He provides a spark and Notre Dame needs all of the help they can get. Roby Toma looked great, but Tyler Eifert looked amazing, even blocking too.
Notre Dame wins this game with a killer game plan from Kelly and Co. It will be tough as shit though, even Mitch Mustain was a monster quarterback at Arkansas and he can definitely win this game for the Condoms.
Good post and very accurate. Although, Kelly's first year is very similar to when Holtz arrived in South Bend, IMO that's a better comparison as far as ND coaches go. -

sjmvsfscs08I think Southern Cal is going to run at the edges, Notre Dame's OLB's and DE's need to eat their Wheaties this week. Marc Tyler is good enough to win this game for the Trojans, so I'd bet on seeing plenty of off-tackle running.
But the good news is Southern Cal has struggled mightily defending the spread. Monte Kiffin probably didn't see too much of that in the NFL. Notre Dame cannot expect Cierre Wood to win this game via a run every freakin' first down. Army knew it was coming but couldn't stop it, that won't be the case this weekend. I for one think Brian Kelly is going to get rather creative. Notre Dame was basically handed a 21-3 lead against Utah, so he didn't need to show anything, and Army was simply outmanned so he didn't need to there either. The real challenge is keeping USC's defense on its toes with a freshman quarterback,
Any word on Theo Riddick or even Ian Williams? Ian Williams' absence has not really hurt this defense, which is beyond surprising. When was the last time Notre Dame looked good in November? When was the last time Notre Dame's defense looked this good, this late in the year? When was the last time Notre Dame's team showed demonstrable improvement on a weekly basis? When was the last time all of that happened despite a ridiculous slew of injuries?
If you can't tell, I really like Brian Kelly. haha -
TiernanWhat idiot Mod keeps putting ND games as a "sticky game"? Sticky Games should be reserved for when two quality football programs are going head to head. I'm not even sure OSU vs scUM is Sticky Game worthy anymore thanks to the abysmal season(s) the skunkweasels have strung together over the past several years.

Did Tiernan O'Rourke paint tits on your back yet? -

Whenever you try to "out-clever" me you really embarrass yourself, its sad really. USC - 35 / ND - 14. Kiffin will be running JVs by mid 4th Qtr.killer_ewok;569862 wrote:Did Tiernan O'Rourke paint tits on your back yet? -

Whether you like it or not, this site has a lot of ND fans and the games are important to them. I did not "sticky" this, but there is plenty of action on the ND game threads. -

It's hard to out-clever something that's not clever to begin with. -

First off we'll stick what we want. 2nd there are a ton of ND fans here. Why don't you stay off the ND threads if it bothers you that much?? Is it really that freaking hard? How many internet crybabies do we have to cater to? -

This. -
karen lotzXrays came back negative on Barkley's ankle. It was originally reported as a high ankle sprain, which don't heal in a week. Kiffin said they expect Barkley to play this week. Could just be Kiffin blowing smoke, who knows.

Wow. That's something to keep an eye on. -
sjmvsfscs08I suggest we sack him multiple times then.

Chiefy! You finally made me chuckle with one of your posts...nice one.
Score To Date - Tiernan: 1,000,000 vs GoChiefs: 1 (but making a comeback) -
FatHobbitI'll be rooting for ND this weekend. I can't stand USC.

If ND wins this game the first excuse out of U$C will be "our QB was hurt" or "our starting QB was out". I'll take a win against those bastards any way we can get it! -
karen lotzVegas doesn't have ND/USC odds listed. Must not feel too confident in Barkley playing.

It would be a pretty weak excuse considering all the injuries ND has suffered this year. I will take a win any way too - would love to start fresh and forget about the last decade of beatings. -
grodtYou always want to win a rivalry game no matter what the records say. My only worry is USC treating this like their bowl game because they're ineligible. We're definitely going to have to bring our A game and not make many mistakes. The defense has been playing really well lately and hopefully they will keep that up. Rees keeps improving and Cierre Wood has had a couple good games too.
Time to bring it. Go Irish! -
newarkcatholicfanU.S.C. by 21 if they play poorly.
