His new name may not stay off the threads...but at least he can't say "enjoy 6-6 and your bowl loss."

No, but he'll come up with some "clever" bullshit to say. He's one of those people who refuse to admit he was wrong.

I could care less though.......ND beats USC!!!! We waited a long time for that!

I'm happy any time USC loses. :) Congrats ND and fans.

Great win for the Irish!!! Wow, what a different feeling we all have since 3 weeks ago. I wouldn't have guessed in a million years they would have won out after the Tulsa debacle. This is a fantastic stepping stone going forward into the BK era. A bowl win finishing 8-5 would be icing on the cake.

I agree 100%. I didn't think ND would win another game. Kudos to Kelly, his staff and the players.

I haven't been on this board since May 31, but man did THAT win feel good!

I can't stand ND or U$C but I hate the Trojans a little more. Congrats on the win and enjoy.

But I have to say I never thought I'd see the day when Domers would think that 8-5 and a bowl win would be "icing on the cake." There was a time when classic ND fans would be angry about an 8-5 record. The New Domers are a different breed! :p

Glad to see them back in a bowl game myself.

ND fans - Am I hearing right that you will more than likley go to the Champs Sports Bowl against the 3rd ACC team (Maryland/NC State???)

Yeah, I think you already said that on this thread. It is what it is. Did you think we'd be expecting 12-0 or 11-1 in Kelly's 1st year? Geez, they went 6-6 the last two years. Why is it shocking that our expectations aren't high? SMH.

We're not a "different breed." This ain't Daddy's Notre Dame where they're competing for national titles every year and winning prestigious bowl games.

Some people have difficulty putting things in perspective. We lost to Navy and Tulsa back-to-back and now ND managed to win out AND beat their main rival who they haven't beat since '01. Yeah, I'd say enthusiasm and excitement are appropriate after this 7-5 season with a respectable bowl game on the horizon all things considered.

It's always good to keep a positive outlook on things. I doubt most Buckeye fans would be so understanding.

After all of their recent success year in and year out, I wouldn't blame them for not being understanding after a 7-5 season.

John Cooper averaged 9-3 seasons in his 13 years as head coach at Ohio State. In that era, Coop had five 10(+) wins in a season, 11 bowl trips, and 3 Big 10 championships. Most schools would call that record very successful. But many Buckeye fans wanted his head.

I doubt most Buckeye fans would see 7-5 plus a bowl win as "icing on the cake."

Apparently Ohio State expects more....much more.

Notre Dame will almost certainly take the Big East's spot and face the 3rd choice of ACC teams, which I would think would be Miami. Florida State will probably be the 2nd pick, and no one in the conference really travels, so at least they are keeping Miami in the state of Florida where there is a chance some of their fans go to the game. Plus, just names Miami and Notre Dame will bring in TV viewers.

What happened in Tressel's first year at OSU? Are you serious right now? Ohio State doesn't expect more than any other top program in the country.

Good for you, I'm just wondering what the fuck all of your bullshit has to do with the ND-USC game?

Aren't we saying the same thing here? OSU fans have higher expectations and should after all of their recent success and ND fans have lower expectations after recent lack of success and that's appropriate. Of course 7-5 wouldn't be good enough for OSU fans.

And save the Cooper shit. The guy was very successful but there were two reasons (one main one) that OSU fans wanted his head....he sucked dick vs. Michigan and had a subpar Bowl record. You know it and I know it. Don't act like his 9/10 wins a year weren't good enough for the OSU faithful. That's good at any school. It was mainly his record vs. UM.

    OMG...a Domer who gets it.

Congrats ND you earned that one rightly so.

I'm sure Sleeper will keep his word which just means some of the rest of us gotta kick up our game a little.

Gets what clown? I don't think ND fans were expecting a national championship run this year. Do I want them to be in that chase every year? Absolutely. That doesn't mean I expect them to be. I understand where the program is at and have said that numerous times on here. I also expect Notre Dame to be back on that elite level. Will it happen in the next few years? Maybe, maybe not. But this was year ended up being a success based off of where it started and after all of the ups and downs. The team, especially the defense, showed a great deal of improvement over the course of the season and unless you watched games this year instead of just listening to what people like sleeper, ccrunner, and Herbstreit say, you wouldn't know that. Bottom line, more wins would be have been nice but overall the season was a success.

Clown? Isn't that a personal attack? But - hey - I'll man up and take it. :p

Actually I happened to watch 5 ND games this season thanks to the Notre Dame Broadcasting Company. ND fans should celebrate a slightly better season than last year.

Beating a down USC team in a probationary year where the Trojans basically have nothing to play for is certainly a sign that ND is on the mend.

And if we blow the game at the end last night we get the usual fucking trolls talking about how we couldn't beat USC even in a down year blah blah fucking blah. If we're damned if we do and damned if we don't I'll take the W.
