Cowherd sez Rich Rod to get whacked unless...

  • norwalk
Hairball (Harbaugh) will be in Michigan on Thursday. It has to do with a celebration for the 1985 team. But a lot of speculation in AA.

One think I agree with Cowherd about is the unlikelihood of Harbaugh coming to UM. He's gonna be a NFL coach. Cowherd mentioned something about Harbaugh and Luck heading to the Carolina Panthers (which isnt so crazy if you think about it).

Fixed, and they also drafted Tony Pike. I think they have more immediate needs right now besides QBs.

Nah, I think McCoy was drafted right where he should have been.

Today he said and I quote, "...Michigan is a MESS!, smallish players on Defense with little chance to compete at a D1 level..." Then he said he would not be surprised to see DickRod released after the bowl game win or lose.

IMO Harbaugh is probably not interested in coming back at this time. Stanford is a great situation for him. If Pizza Boy can't line up a Harbaugh or Myles behind the scenes before the bowl game, Dickie's job is safe.
Stanford also only fills half of their stadium and they're ranked in the top five in the country! With Harbaugh it all depends on his NFL aspirations, because he's not going to stay at Stanford over Michigan just because he loves Stanford so much. Obviously Stanford is a nice situation now, but he'll have a hard time competing there against Oregon and all their money and facilities, and USC will be back dominating California recruiting as soon as they are off probation. Although he'd have a hard time competing in the Big Ten against OSU and all of their money and facilities too. He's not going to turn down Michigan because he really loves Stanford. He'd turn down Michigan because he doesn't think he'll be in the college game that much longer.

As a Buckeye fan I hope he doesn't end up in Ann Arbor though because I'd be scared that he'd get them competitive and quick. If they fire Rodriguez (which I think at this point they will, but not until January after his buyout is cut in half) I hope they at least hire a coach smart enough to continue to run a similar offense until he has his player in place, instead of running an offense that maximizes their weaknesses and minimizes their strengths like RR did when he arrived at Michigan.

I love Cowherd. The trick is to not take him seriously. He is smarter than the average bear. Him saying ridiculous things and mentioning talking points about teams who have loyal followings is just part of his shtick.

With that being said, I doubt he has "inside information" on Rich Rod, and if he does, this inside information is probably actually common sense or his brain. Rich Rod's seat is incredibly warm right now and won't be getting any colder. Especially since Harbaugh will be a hot commodity this off season. If Michigan wants Harbaugh, they've got to act fast

They are no more likely to get Harbaugh now than they are after the bowl season. Besides, his team will be playing in a BCS bowl game. It's one thing to leave Cincinnati for Notre Dame before playing in a BCS bowl, it's something different all together to leave Stanford for Michigan before their first BCS bowl. It's probably better for recruiting to hire a new coach as soon as possible, but then you have Harbaugh coming in as the new coach and someone else serving as the interim for the bowl game. Besides, we all know that if Brandon is planning (or even seriously considering) firing Rodriguez then they have hired people to discreetly gauge the interests of people they might want to hire as his replacement. So if they want Harbaugh and he's interested they'll make it clear to each other when it should happen.

For someone to say that he "wants to be a Michigan man" tells me they hired the wrong guy. JT was a Buckeye from day 1.

Man, the rumors are swirling that Richrod is out after the buyout drops to half (after the bowl game) and Harbaugh is going to be hired.

I hope not, I'd like to see Richrod stay at UM for at least 10 more years. :)
  • karen lotz
    link?
  • Writerbuckeye
No link. The OSU board I frequent has a lot of hear say stuff. That, combined with the deep ridicule Richrod is taking over his Josh Groban moment at their banquet, is leading folks to believe his time there is short -- and he'll be fired after their bowl game, when his buyout drops by half.
