Big Ten announces agreement with FOX Sports to serve as official broadcast partner of the 2011-16 Big Ten Football Championship Games.

That sucks for the Big Ten.

    ugh

Fox owns the BTN. Not surprised.
  • Midstate01
I'm fine with it if and only if brennaman is the announcer.
  • Ty Webb
Thom is better at football than he is at Baseball...

Listening to the radio and they said it will most likely be Thom and Charles Davis
  • wildcats20
    Charles Davis is HORRIBLE.
  • Ty Webb
Wikipedia said they may try and see if ESPN/ABC will loan them Herbie

I'm not surprising. They weren't going to put it on the BTN and I doubt that they wanted it in prime time since the Big Ten doesn't play any games later than 3:30 in November. Since the Big XII will no longer have a championship game it's possible that the new Big Ten could have filled that TV spot with ESPN, but my guess is that FOX was willing to pony up more money since they own 49% of the BTN and since they no longer have the BCS. I would assume that FOX will use the BTN's top broadcast team to call the game since they will know more about the teams and the conference than bringing guys who haven't called a single Big Ten game all year. Would I rather have ESPN doing the game? Yes, but not necessarily because they do a superior job covering college football, but because it's familiar and comfortable.

krambman....you are forgetting that the PAC 10 will also have a championship game as well....they will most likely be the late game on Championship Saturday

Correct. I didn't think about that. If that's the time slot they needed to fill then they were probably willing to pay the Pac-10 more than the Big Ten.

Gotta believe that FOX overpaid for the rights.

It is sad for me to think of anyone calling this game other than Brent Musburger. He has called just about every marquee Big Ten game in the last decade.

Fox is garbage for colllege football. Fox is good for the NFL, that is it.

this will be awful on a scale I can't even fathom

This. It was pretty much a given.

Who really cares.......... I like Brent Musberger ..He is the best friend the Big Ten has but football is football. If I can listen to Chris Colinsworth during 10 Steeler games a year I can sit through anything .. Ill just turn the radio on if I have to

Could be worse, could have Dan Fouts.

I actually like watching games on the B10 Network, not necessarily because of the announcers, they all seem adequate enough, but the commercial breaks are shorter. Too bad Fox won't be able to reproduce what I like about the B10 coverage into their broadcast.

Agreed Fouts ...LOl... That guy I remember the championship game vs Miami ..He was so pro Miami ...
  • darbypitcher22
    Dan Fouts is a joke

this game isn't going to be in prime time? seems strange to me.
  • Tiernan
They better start doing alot of background work in Columbus to get adequate coverage of the team that will be there every one of those 5 years.

I doubt it. I assume that it will be at 3:30. The Big Ten doesn't allow any prime time games after October, all games kickoff at 12:00 or 3:30 in November by Big Ten rule, so I doubt that they would have that rule and then play the championship game at 8:00. That seems strange to me.

Bad for the buckeyes.....we suck on fox

Has it been decided where the game was to be played? Thought I recalled it was in Indiana (dome) the first year. If so I would think they would consider it.

Yes, the game will be in Lucal Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
