Iowa or PSU for the Fiesta Bowl?
-
2kool4skoolIt looks like the Fiesta Bowl will be Boise State vs. one of these two teams.
Tough to say who will go: Iowa beat PSU, but PSU has played better than Iowa as of late. I would imagine PSU has more of a fan following as well.
What say you? -
hoops23I think it'll be Iowa and Boise.
I said Iowa would make the Fiesta Bowl after the loss to OSU. -
darbypitcher22I don't think it should be either of these two teams; the Big Ten is a one bid league this year; Penn State was 0-2 in games that mattered against top competition. I guess I could understand the argument for Iowa if Stanzi was healthy(and he very well could be for the bowl game, no need to remind me of how the back up played @ the Shoe), but I don't see it happening. I'd much rather see Boise and TCU square off in that game, but it won't happen
-
SportsAndLadyNo way should Penn State go to a BCS game...they had one of the worst schedules I have ever seen, and only played 2 good teams and lost, and they were both AT HOME.
Iowa...ehhhh...no thanks. Not a very good following (fan-wise) and just aren't a very exciting team..I think the Fiesta Bowl will skip over them.
I agree, 1 bid league. -
darbypitcher22I think the BCS learned the last time they had Iowa in the Orange Bowl against USC about how they traveled
-
hoops23Iowa will have a good following @ the Fiesta Bowl simply because of the high % Iowan transplants in the area.
This was discussed already during the game. The Fiesta Bowl has already stated thy'd love to have Iowa. I also think Iowa would drill Boise St. -
darbypitcher22Iowa would drill Boise? How many times have they scored more than 30 all year? Boise's offense is difficult to stop; I know Iowa has a stout defense but could they score enough points?
-
Cleveland BuckIowa is as deserving as anyone with the schedule they played, but Penn state has the name, the fans, and the ratings, so they will get the bid.
-
darbypitcher22With the schedule they've played?
Squeakers over Arkansas State and Northern Iowa and a win against shitty Iowa State. The only win I'll give them is Arizona. -
dwccrewNeither team. Should be whoever loses the Cincy/Pitt game. But it's all about fan attendance.
The Big 10 only deserves one team in the BCS this season. Maybe throw an additional Pac 10 team. -
darbypitcher22I find them hard pressed to take a 3 loss Pitt team, especially when one of those losses was to North Carolina State
-
hoops23We'll see how it works out. But imo (and I'm hardly wrong on these things ) Iowa will be in the Fiesta Bowl.. And if they play Boise, they will win.
-
darbypitcher22It could very well happen; I'm not saying it couldn't, you know how fucked up this system is; but I would hope that it didn't happen

TCU will be playing in the Orange Bowl against Georgia Tech most likely.darbypitcher22 wrote:I'd much rather see Boise and TCU square off in that game, but it won't happen
With Oklahoma State getting drilled today, it's pretty much a lock that the Big 10 is a two-bid team this year. -
darbypitcher22Yes I realize this, and that could be a great game.

A 3 loss Pitt team???? Give me a f***ing break.dwccrew wrote: Neither team. Should be whoever loses the Cincy/Pitt game. But it's all about fan attendance.

You are right, which is why Pitt needs to beat Cincy. That way Pitt gets the auto bid and Cincy gets the at large. Even though I don't think Cincy is as good as PSU or Iowa, they'd deserve to make a BCS game at 11-1.darbypitcher22 wrote: I find them hard pressed to take a 3 loss Pitt team, especially when one of those losses was to North Carolina State -
darbypitcher22I would certainly hope they'd take an 11-1 Cincy should they lose to Pitt

I don't see the BCS taking Cinci unless they're forced to, not enough of a following. -
darbypitcher22They had a pretty good following at last year's Orange Bowl; at least it looked decent on TV.
I think they'd take an 11-1 Cincy team -
2kool4skool
They'd certainly have to consider it, and they'd look really bad if they didn't while adding fuel to the anti-BCS fire, so maybe.darbypitcher22 wrote: They had a pretty good following at last year's Orange Bowl; at least it looked decent on TV.

darbypitcher22can the anti-BCS fire get any worse?
Only way I could see that happening would be if Florida/Bama/Texas all had 1 loss and Cincy/TCU/Boise go undefeated yet a combo of the 1st three played for a title. -
2kool4skool
Who knows, but leaving out Cinci for Iowa or PSU certainly wouldn't help.darbypitcher22 wrote: can the anti-BCS fire get any worse?

Although I still think Cinci is left out if they lose next week. -
darbypitcher22Why do you seem them being left out? I think they have enough key wins to be worthy of a spot.
Taking a 2 loss Iowa or Penn State over a 1 loss Cincy that would run ramrod over either one of those 2 clubs would be rediculous -

I completely agree it would be ridiculous and Cinci deserves to go win or lose.darbypitcher22 wrote: Why do you seem them being left out? I think they have enough key wins to be worthy of a spot.

I just think that Iowa or PSU is a much more attractive team for a Bowl, and in turn they'll be taken. It's not that I think that's what should happen, just what I think will happen(although I think Cinci will beat Pitt and render the entire decision moot.)
