  That happens with virtually every I-A program, even the academic oriented ones. Considering all the time student-athletes spend on athletics, it doesn't make a lot of sense to dorm one with a non-athlete. For 18 year olds adjusting to college life it doesn't make for a good situation for the athletes or the non-athletes. After freshman year, live with who you want.

  I think you just need to chill a little bit. Not all ND players are as great as you seem to think, and not all OSU players, or players at other institutions, are as bad as you seem to think, i can almost guarantee that. Keep it in perspective. Everyone has their good and bad eggs. Not to mention plenty of other schools have high "standards," just like ND, they aren't alone in that. I didn't attend a football school in undergrad, but when i was at UM for grad school, i certainly ran into my fair share of football players who were completely and totally part of the "student body," and were quite intelligent as well. And, that is certainly the case at many other schools, OSU included, i'm sure. ND has a great thing going, but they aren't unique at all, IMO.

  I mean, i'm not denying that there aren't undoubtedly some giant losers on the OSU football team who i would absolutely despise if it weren't for the fact that they played at OSU.
  
  But, the same can be said for every school out there, including ND. They definitely have tough academic restrictions, sure... but so do other schools, and even those schools that don't, that doesn't automatically mean that the players aren't intelligent, are just "fucking and eating and playing," etc.
  
  I think you've got this giant, really odd and creepy hatred for OSU football players when they are off the field, which is odd, because you listen to great music, are a smart kid, etc., and are seemingly better than that. Common sense should tell you that, quite simply, yea, some suck, but it isn't all of them.

  I have a thousand times more respect for UM's players than OSU's. You didn't disprove my point, I in large part agree with everything you just said. My friend Patrick Omameh plays at Michigan, he's a smart guy and truly a mensch. I would more readily support a program that graduates >90% of its team though, and Notre Dame is near the top there.
  
  Ohio State does have plenty of good guys on their team, I'm sure. Ben St. John and I were friends in high school wrestling and throwing shot/disc together, even Eagle Scouts from the same district; he's a great guy. He's also a walk-on so it's a bit moot.
  
  I just generally don't have anywhere near the amount of respect for that program as I do for others. Not saying Tressel isn't a great guy, but I just don't care for the corporate approach.

  C'mon....really? You're telling me that ND...hell for that matter all 1-A schools in BCS conferences....don't have a "corporate approach" in one form or another?
  
  Of course they do including the coaches and the "student" athletes who play for Touchdown Jesus.
  
  Big time college football is and always has been all about the money.
