LMAO!!!!! Let me guess, Jim Tressel? -
darbypitcher22I can't name five who are in a position where they'd want to leave and take another job right now... you're basically whittled down to 2 candidates: Brian Kelly(which again, I don't see happening) and Bob Stoops; I don't see Billick ever becoming part of the discussion

Cha'DIchNotre Dame needs to hire a coach who actually cares about all parts of the game instead of just the offense.
I don't think Weis even tries to recruit top of the line defensive players. He is more interested in going out and recruiting the so-called next great quarterback and wide receiver. It doesn't matter if your team scored 30 points per game when it gives up 31.
The kicking game has also suffered under Weis. I don't understand how a school like Notre Dame can't recruit a good kicker, and punter.
The defense and kicking game has cost the Fighting Irish dearly during his tenure, but he doesn't seem to care to do anything about it.
Goodbye Charlie! Thanks for nothing. -
darbypitcher22Defenses haven't been exactly stellar at Notre Dame for quite a while now, even before Weis' tenure

He is an offensive coach and I doubt he would deny that. To say he doesn't even try to recruit "top of the line" defensive players/kickers, is just stupid. Teo #1 OLB, Stockton #3 DT, Turk #6 Kicker. All freshmen this year. There have been others in previous years, they have just not been as successful as everyone planned.Cha'DIch wrote: Notre Dame needs to hire a coach who actually cares about all parts of the game instead of just the offense.

Why would Jim Tressel want to leave Ohio State? He has a great team returning next season and will be in position to win his 6 th consecutive Big 10 title and should also be in great position to go to the BCS title game.rock_knutne wrote:pooter wrote:If they're going after a high profile name.... there are many names higher up and more proven....

Oh, you were trying to take a shot at Ohio State and OSU's coach? There really is no reason for OSU fans to even respond to the FEW fans of ND and UM that try and take potshots at our program. You wish you were in our position.

hoops23Why would ANYBODY leave OSU for ND?
ND fans would LOVE to have Jim Tressel. ND fans would LOVE to have consistent double digit win seasons and BCS bowl bids... -
mallymal614If Notre Dame defeats Standard, will the Irish carry Charlie off the field? Wait.......nevermind smh.

Or, they were just not developed..or put in a position to be successful.. which again goes back to coaching. Which I still am scratching my head about as Weis supposedly brought in all these top notch assistant coaches.karen lotz wrote:

slingshot4everWies Jr. has been calling in the defensive plays and wears that headset. Give him a shot.

Mooney44CardsSo its pretty clear that the players at ND absolutely love Weis. So if they end up pulling this game out against Stanford in dramatic fashion, I feel bad cuz they probably won't be able to carry him off the field.
Sorry Charlie....I defended you for 5 years against the fat jokes.....I had to give in eventually! -
darbypitcher22Who knows. Maybe the hog mollies up front will find the strength to lift him up
-
killer_ewokNotre Dame leads Stanford 38-30 early in the 4th quarter. Golden Tate has 3 TD's thus far.
-
darbypitcher22Come on Stanford...
How much have they ran for? I haven't watched a down -
karen lotzIt would be nice to see Brian Smith take on the lead block with his inside shoulder instead of allowing the FB to get him hooded. It's a pretty basic football technique I learned in middle school...
-
killer_ewokStanford has about 150 rushing tonight.
-
BlueDevil11Stanford went for it on four and 4 and got a TD!!!!
-
darbypitcher22not exactly running ramrod like they did against USC; looks like somebody did some film study
-
killer_ewokStanford breaks out the trick play and gets the TD.
-
BlueDevil11GO for 1 or 2?
-
darbypitcher22how much time left?
-
BlueDevil11Went for 2 and got it 38 all
9 minutes left.
