Notre Dame releases 2011 and 2012 schedules

I understand why ND would want to head West in late November to play at USC when it's cold in Indiana, but why can't they ever get the pretty boys from SoCal to make the trip to South Bend in late November? I'd love to see USC have to play in the Midwest when it's really cold.

Also, I think it would be funny if Notre Dame was playing someone like Baylor in Dublin instead of Navy.

Not sure. USC hasn't been to South Bend later than October since the 1950s. I also believe USC said they would end the series unless ND agreed to play the games in South Bend before November.

USC will have more talent? Thats actually a load of crap. THis current USC roster, as the article below points outs, doesn't have a 1st or 2nd team all PAC10 selection. The whole thing about USC having all this talent, as I pointed out before the season to many, was nothing but an enigma. They are not as talented, nor will they be for a LONG while. A few players here and there. But not the depth needed to compete and be a top program. Their fall IMO, is just beginning. To think they will be anything in the next couple of years, is being blind.

On top of that, thinking Michigan will be this or that is nothing but a stretch as well. BYU sucks, Purdue sucks, Navy is Navy, Pitt has Wanny, MSU is inconsistant year to year as well.
IMO, the ONLY team you can look at and probably say for sure they will be very good, is Oklahoma and maybe Stanford if Harbaugh is still there.
Sorry, that schedule is not nearly as impressive as it "looks".

You think WVU, Arkansas, and Mississippi State have more talent than USC does?

    Notre Dame's 2011 lineup:

    QB- Crist RS-JR
    RB- Cierre Wood RS-SO
    WR- Michael Floyd SR
    WR- Theo Riddick JR
    WR- TJ Jones SO
    TE- Rudolph SR

With an offseason to gel, Notre Dame will have a passing attack as good as anyone in the country. Tyler Eifer, Bennett Jackson, John Goodman, and the freshman Atkinson fellow will provide some serious depth in the corp. They also should return 4/5 on the offensive line, so they will be "gelled" so to speak come next season. I expect big things from 2011's offense.

The defense though, is tricky. The incoming freshmen class is ridiculously talented on the defensive side of the ball. But they probably won't mature to dominating levels until 2012 at the earliest, with 2013 being awesome. It's been a long time since Notre Dame has had a defense to brag about, but Lynch, Tuitt, Nix will be a DL fit for the SEC.

I would be shocked if Floyd stuck around for his senior year. That is, of course, if the NFL gets something worked out.
  • karen lotz
I wouldn't say I'd be shocked if he were back. I wouldn't be surprised either way actually.
  • sjmvsfscs08
Once somebody tells him NFL teams are frightened by his injury problems...he'll get a 2nd-to-3rd-round projection and weigh his options from there. Then you have to weigh in his mother is quite adamant about getting his degree from Notre Dame prior to anything else. I think she realizes he's a klutz and needs a Notre Dame degree to live off of.
  • dat dude
There is no way he will get a 2nd-3rd round projection. Most mocks have him (and Rudolph) going in the first round. I still say he is gone after this year, and I bet Rudolph is seriously considering it as well.

Rudolph is out for 6 months after surgery to reattach his hamstring to the bone. He won't be full go until early April so he won't be in any condition to work out for scouts/teams. I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't come back. Floyd has yet to complete a full season and may miss time this year with his hammy. Injury concerns are there for sure.

Not denying there are injury concerns. However, won't those same concerns be there his senior year? I'm not saying he would be a top 10 pick, but I would be willing to be he will be a first round pick.

And I understand the rehab issues for Rudolph. I don't think its likely, but I do think he may consider it.
  • karen lotz
Yeah like I said, I wouldn't be surprised either way with Floyd.
  • sjmvsfscs08
I wouldn't be as surprised with Floyd, but I still wouldn't bet on him leaving. We all thought Golden was a guaranteed first-rounder too.

Yeah, when he first said it I was quoting it all the time. I still have no idea how a person who can't put a coherent sentence together was elected not just once, but twice in such a media rich age.

Since this is completely off topic, here's a link to some of his best moments:

Give the dude a break he's dyslexic. But I still have no idea why people unconsciously weigh someone's speaking abilities when they get into the booth, it's really just moot. But regardless the Democrats put up a terrible candidate in 2004 (and in 2008).

And let me just state for the record I would rather have Bush as my President than Obama.

I think Notre Dame is on quarters so they can pull it off. I plan to be in Ireland for that game, any other huddlers---errr, chatters going?

I don't think that's accurate. They are on fall break right now. Don't think the quarter system would warrant a week off 4 weeks into the term.

USC used to come to South Bend in November and they couldn't deal with it. They threatened to cancel the series if they didn't play at ND earlier in the year and ND said OK.

I know this should be relegated to the Political Forum, but this is BY FAR the best post you've ever submitted--hands down
