OSU vs MSU for national title

Too much would have to happen for it to come to fruition. But it might be the real BCS buster if it did.

Nebraska before Michigan State which for all intents and purposes would be the same thing. But I'd love to see either scenario happen!

MSU has to play at Iowa, and I think the Northwestern game could be a trap game. I think they do have a very good chance to go undefeated though. Running the ball and playing good defense is way underated in todays game. MSU does them both well. I think their defense is good not great (see notre dame game) and turnovers will kill them one of these days on offense.

I'd love for Nebraska to get in to face the Buckeyes.

MSU's schedule is favorable, but I think MSU will stumble somewhere.

Thought about the same thing while sitting in the Big House on Saturday. MSU avoids OSU, so their season basically rests on the Iowa game. If they can go into IC and beat the Hawkeyes, they have a decent shot at going undefeated.

That said, I think they stumble along the way as well. Probably lose some game they have no business losing.

Michigan State is a very solid team. Are they elite? I don't know. But I do think they have enough to go undefeated.

Farfetched but not Unrealistic...and I think you're right TSST, the outcry from the rest of the nation would be so loud and whiny I think the College Pres' would finally relent and approve a play-off.

Michigan State has had a number of seasons over the past decade where the started off to a great start, only to falter down the back half of the schedule. I would not hold my breath for Sparty to go undefeated.

Nebraska loses to Oklahoma in the B12 title game.

You might not be saying that after the game would be over

Even though I don't see MSU going unbeaten this season, it'd be nice if they did (and OSU, obviously). To have two unbeatens from the same conference would be awesome in the last season before the Big 10 re-alignment.

Having 2 undefeated teams in the same conference is flat out stupid IMO and this is a good reason for the change next year.

It would never happen if the Big 10 played only 2 OOC games but you're right, it is good reason for the changes that start next year.

It would be cool for the Big 10 but bad for college football in general.

pretty much nailed it, Webbie--it would be a ratings nightmare.

I think even beyond ratings it would be bad. 2 teams out of any conference for the NC game would not be good, IMO.

Just the idea of 2 teams from the same conference being undefeated is dumb IMO. I hate the BCS as much as the next guy but we are going to be stuck with it for a while IMO. Because of this, all the conferences need to have 2 divisions and a championship game so the team they are going to be sending to the BCS games is a clear cut choice.

Happens in basketball all of the time, no?

All of the time? When was the last time 2 conference foes met for the basketball championship? If I had to guess I'd say Georgetown/Nova in the mid 80s.

Just looked it up and I was a little off. Kansas/Oklahoma played in 1988. Georgetown/Nova was 1985.

I will also throw in that its a little different for basketball in that there are 64/65/96 or however many teams there are now in the tournament. Its bound to happen at some point because so many teams make it and they are separated in brackets as much as possible.

I think if it were a playoff and 2 teams ended up in the NC, not a big deal. But not by the BCS.

If both teams go undefeated maybe the Big Ten should have an improv Big Ten title game. Doubt it is legal since they don't have enough teams, but if it were legal, why not? They have a whole off season before the bowl games start anyway. Plenty of time to get it done.

Having two divisions with a championship game doesn't always provide a clear cut choice. Was Oklahoma the clear cut choice in 2008 when they beat Texas Tech, who beat Texas on the final play of the game, who beat Oklahoma by 10? Nope. I think most thought that Texas was the most deserving choice. Having a title game is anything but clear cut.

It'd be great for the possible outcry and outrage against the BCS, but imagine this- if the coaches put (hypothetical) Boise St. as #2 to face Ohio State as #1, leaving out an undefeated, BCS conf team in Mich St. (assuming no other BCS schools are undefeated).

That would be ridiculous- and awesome.
