Kelly making decision in 7-10 days?
-
devil1197During the pregame commentary, it was said that Kelly told Griese on the field that he will make a decision within 7-10 days on where he will coach next season.
Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Will the Pitt game play a role in his decision or do you think he already knows? -
wildcats20I think already knows and I don't think he is going anywhere. The University is starting to get him what he wants, I think he'll be around for at least a few more years.
-
RotinajI think the Pitt game will play somewhat of a roll, but im pretty sure he probably already knows what he wants to do.

rocket31as an irish fan, ill be rooting for illinois today!!

jordo212000Even if Kelly felt that way I was shocked that he said it. You never hear coaches say stuff like this about potential jobs, let alone when they're on the field for a game.

Thats what I hear. Or at least what they said during the broadcast. Still doesn't show any tact on his part. Just saying, I wouldn't like it if my coach was talking about bailing on me at the start of a game3reppom wrote:

darbypitcher22That's something I would hope the guys in the booth would keep private even if they did hear him say it. They asked him about it in the postgame interview on the field and every question up until that had been football related. I think it caught him offguard and pissed him off a little bit. He claims he was misquoted, which I have no doubt he probably was.

Skyhook79Unless UC plans on at least doubling the size of their Stadium or least telling Kelly they will, Kelly will be gone.
35,000 isn't going to get it done. -
SageJudgment time for the UC program and Kelly's word. (Saying he'd stay there as long as he felt they were "building" on the program).
-
visionquestI really think ND would be making a huge mistake to hire this guy. What's he proven? They've had 1 great year and 1 decent year? So, now he's gonna be ND's savior? This would not be a good hire for ND.

From what I've heard behind the scenes, I wouldn't be surprised if he sits tight for one more year. He's on the short list for the U of M job if/when DickRod gets fired. Sounds like they're going to give Rod one more year. Kelly has a lot coming back next year so he'll still be a hot commodity next year at this time.Skyhook79 wrote: Unless UC plans on at least doubling the size of their Stadium or least telling Kelly they will, Kelly will be gone.

It's a lot easier to win and maintain success at Michigan than at Notre Dame. -
jordo212000Yeah I kind of think Kelly would have a nice thing going for at least one more year at Cincy. I'm not going to lie, I think he'd do just fine at Notre Dame if he did leave, but at the same time the cupboard is pretty full in Cincy still.
Who would Cincy replace him with? Butch Jones? (Who replaced Kelly at CMU), Skip Holtz? -
darbypitcher22If he did go on to Michigan he'd already be in a great position to recruit, being familiar with the area after being at Central and Grand Valley St.
If he did bolt you'd think somebody like a Christ Petterson at Boise State or Gary Patterson @ TCU might get a crack -
DaBrowns41If he doesn't take the ND job, he's gone after next year, IMO. This is the highest Cincy will ever be, and they can't get the recruits to maintain a very strong team year in and year out.

Pead is sophomore
Vidal Hazelton (formerly of USC will be there next year)
Binns is a JR
Guidugli is a JR
Cincy with or without Kelly is going to be a formidable football school here into the future. Especially after the upgrades to the program that are in the works. Just because Cincinnati wasn't good back 30 yrs ago when you were in your 20s doesn't mean they can't sustain success now. -
darbypitcher22^^^^
They shouldn't have a problem getting the recruits.
With the position they're in now, being a power in a BCS conference, they should at least be able to get every top player that Tress doesn't pick up in the state of Ohio. Plus that tri state area and the Louisville area are hotbeds for college football. -

UC is hardly a power, yet. A few great seasons don't make you a power. This team is 4 seasons removed from a less than .500 season.darbypitcher22 wrote: ^^^^

UC isn't a true football program. Their basketball program is still what brings people to the school, along with their liberal arts studies.
Not to mention, they are in the less than stellar Big East who's schedules are filled with FCS schools.
As long as OSU is a school, UC won't be getting the 5 star recruits. Not to mention, when Kelly leaves at the end of this year or next, they'll be the same old Bearcats from the last 60 years. -

Hook. Line. and sinker. Are you Jim Delany's son? Or Tressel's wife?DaBrowns41 wrote:

I love the pot shots people take at the Big East. The Big 10 is awful and you wouldn't argue that just because they play in that conference, they aren't a power; would you?
Not a power yet, true. But who said they were? They are a serious threat to Ohio State.
Getting 5* recruits isn't something they need to shoot for anyways, how often is that crap even right?
They aren't a true football program, but they #5 with one week left in the regular season. Thats rich -
darbypitcher22Basketball still brings people to school? Have they been relevant since Bobby Huggins left town?

Thanks for playing. -
jordo212000making logical and valid points= which part of your argument? I must have missed that.
Was it the part where you gave your OPINION and predictions on the future? -

If you want to have a personal discussion, do it via PM. I'd prefer to talk about the topic involved.jordo212000 wrote: making logical and valid points= which part of your argument? I must have missed that.
