dlazzI was getting ready to post this. I'm NOT cool with Oregon hopping Boise.
-
wes_mantoothI figured that Oregon would jump the Bucks as well....
-
gerb131I can't believe Bama doesn't get all the first place votes!

Why not? -
Manhattan BuckeyeI don't think Florida fell enough. That team has serious issues. Granted Alabama in Tuscaloosa is a tough game for anyone, but they were outmatched in every manner and in the earlier games were nothing more than Meaty-Oaker. Iowa, Stanford and Michigan St. should all be ranked ahead of FLA.

Never happen. We are talking about newspapers here....always biased towards their region. -
gerb131Wisconsin is a scary 2 loss team.

I would agree with that, but Bama far and away the best team in the country.wes_mantooth;505852 wrote:Never happen. We are talking about newspapers here....always biased towards their region. -

Generally the way it goes is if "big" teams win their games they stay where they are. Boise wins their games (handily) and move down.
Sure Oregon played a better team this week, but they played trash teams the first four weeks. -

I agree with that too, but if they play like they did against Arkansas...they can be beat. Overall, no matter what happens this year, they are def the most talented team in the country. -

What's really scary is they apparently lost twice yesterday. -

I kind of assumed if Bama lost this year, it'd be the Arkansas game. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they run the table and win the NC game. -
gerb131Yea sorry about that. I had them losing to Arizona and that was obviously Iowa, my fault.

Sparty might be better than everyone thinks! -
IggyPride00Arizona moving up to 9th is interesting. I wonder just how for real they are. They host Oregon the second last game of their season in what could be a huge showdown game depending on how things go.
Depending on how the conferences play out as far as the rankings of the other teams in them Oregon and OSU if they both run the table could be in a dogfight in the computer rankings (non-human) part of the BCS for the #2 spot behind Alabama. -

True. I know it is the old "ifs, ands, or buts"...but they could be out of the conversation completely(at least for now), if it wasn't for a epic choke job by Ryan Mallet.
I still think that they are by far the best team in the country, but sometimes an off game can destroy your season...especially with this bcs bullshit. -
supermanI'm glad the AP poll means nothing. Oregon should not have jumped for beating a Stanford team that wasn't really that impressive.
-
BigAppleBuckeyeHere is something I don't understand: OSU's defense played well (particularly after the first drive), and OSU's offense did not play well. Result? A lot of media outlets are labeling them overrated.
Conversely, Oregon's offense played well, and their defense played HORRIBLY, yet they are jumping teams in the poll? I know, Stanford is ranked, etc, but it seems like teams with high-powered offenses and crappy defenses always get a pass in the national perception. Thoughts? -

Arizona spanked Iowa. They are legit. Oregon does have a tough road ahead though. I can easily see a dogfight in the polls between OSU and Oregon for the 2nd spot.IggyPride00;505889 wrote:Arizona moving up to 9th is interesting. I wonder just how for real they are. It's nothing new... offense is much more interesting to talk about than defense. I forget who it was, but some sports writer last year tried to write an entire story about a game while focusing on defense. And he was just trying to point out how much less interesting it is and harder to understand what happened.
But I think OSU showed Oregon last year how important defense is... -
darbypitcher22People love that point a minute stuff....

Arizona spanked Iowa? What is your definition of spanking? They won by 7 points with Iowa practically giving them the game. To quote the AP recap:
"The Wildcats blocked a punt to set up their first score, Travis Cobb returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and Trevin Wade ran an interception back 85 yards for another score."
Congrats to Arizona for the win and early lead, but Iowa crapped the bed early in that game and still almost won. Iowa is a better overall team.
