Is Brandon Saine Hurt?
-
krambmanI was just looking at today's stats and he only had 3 carries for 11 yards and 3 receptions for 18 yards. The low yardage total isn't a big deal but the fact that he only got 6 touches today (and they all came pretty early in the game) when Herron had 15 touches, Hall had 6, Hyde had 5, and Berry had 4. Also his overall lack of production since the opener makes me wonder if he's injured and no one knows about it (or if perhaps he's done something to end up in the dog house).
Any thoughts or insights? -
OneBuckeyeI think he had a bad turf burn, from what I read on a reporters twitter
-
Cleveland BuckHe didn't get a lot of touches because he is the 3rd best back on the roster.
-
Big GainHe often has been....typical of a track guy.

ZombieKillersore vagina...its a career ending injury

jordo212000No Brandon Saine is a victim of Tressel not looking at statistics. He routinely has had better stats/averages than Boom, but it doesn't matter. Boom is Tressel's boy for whatever reason (He may be injured though, I don't know. I quit watching after halftime)

centralbucksfanAnybody like to see more of Berry and Hall? I doubt it will happen, but Boom and Saine have been very unimpressive this year. Both are slow to hit the hole. Berry and Hall have that immediate burst. I am sure we may suffer in other area's such as pass blocking/picking up the blitz. But I sure would like to see them get some meaningful carries to see what they can do.

Clueless. -
Cleveland BuckI don't think we can say Berry is better yet, though I suppose he might be.
-
thedynasty1998Berry and Hall at this point are better than Boom and Zoom.
-
AutomatikI want to see more of Berry and Hyde. I had no idea Hyde was that jacked. I thought he was a little guy coming in.

It's so hard to justify that. When they've come into games it's typically been with the second string late in the third quarter. Usually the other team's starting defense is still in the game. This means that they have fresh legs with a fresh offensive line going against a defense that is getting worn out. Also, when the second team is in Ohio State calls a much more run-oriented offense. Running backs thrive on rhythm, and we have become a pass first team with two backs sharing time, so neither can get into a rhythm. I think that both Boom and Saine would produce more if they were the only back instead of splitting time. The only way we could justifiably say that Berry and Hall are better right now would be to see them on the first with the first team offense early in a game. -
sleeperSaine is our best back, book it.
-
dwccrewPryor is the best runner on the team so it doesn't really matter who we put in the backfield. But I'd put Boom in over any of the other backs right now.
-
Hb31187Saine is a straight line runner, hes not shifty at all. Hes a track guy, GREAT top end speed...but hes not shaking anybody and for how big he is...he doesnt really lower the boom on defenders tryign to tackle him
-
mallymal614Hall is the best RB on the team in my opinion.
-
Tiger2003Saine and Boom are just fine for me. Right now they are the 2 best guys to have in there. They hardly ever put the ball on the ground. We don't know that about Hall and Berry yet. Saine was banged up pretty bad last week and actually was a surprise that he did play against EMU. You can't deny was Saine brings to the team.
Saine
Boom
Berry/Hall
Don't try to fix something when its not broke. And don't say we dont have a running game so it is broke. 2,118 yard rushing between Pryor, Saine and Boom and 18 rushing TD's. Ill take that year in year out. -
Big Gain
How would you know, he's never played against Big Ten #1 defense.mallymal614;498598 wrote:Hall is the best RB on the team in my opinion. -
Big GainSaine and Herron, everyone else waits their turn. Even Beanie did.

Its extremely hard to say that Hall or Berry is better than any of our RB's due to them never facing a #1 defense. I believe that Berry has better physical tools than most of our RB's, but he hasn't faced a #1unit. -

Beanie also couldn't hold onto the ball his freshman year and he was backing up a 1000 yard rusher from the year before. And Clarrett didn't have to wait. He started as a freshman over Lydell Ross who had seen considerable playing time the year before. Think before you post. -

We don't have a running game, from our RB's, so it's broke.Tiger2003;498627 wrote:Don't try to fix something when its not broke. And don't say we dont have a running game so it is broke.
Then put them in against a #1 defense. It's not like Boom or Zoom are producing against a #1 defense either.devil1197;498759 wrote:Its extremely hard to say that Hall or Berry is better than any of our RB's due to them never facing a #1 defense. To say someone has to wait their turn is just dumb.krambman;498856 wrote:Beanie also couldn't hold onto the ball his freshman year and he was backing up a 1000 yard rusher from the year before. I said heading into the year that the RB position was the only position that I thought could use a major upgrade. I think OSU can win every game on the schedule with the current RB's, but if they had a Mark Ingram, OSU is by far the best team, and it's not even close. -
FatHobbitBoom has 42 carries for 192 yards (4.6 yards/carry) and 4 TDs
Saine has 36 carries for 169 yards (4.7 yards/carry) and 2 TDs
I'll give that Saine is a better receiver, but as far as tailbacks go I've never understood why some people thought Saine was so much better than Boom. They are both ok, but I don't feel like either of them is spectacular.
