cats gone wild1. SEC
2. Big 12
3. Pac 10/Big 10 tie
The SEC is taking care of business and has 6 teams ranked pretty well. Florida should not be a top 10 team though. LSU has no offense even though they average 29 a game, but their defense is very tough. The coming weeks should tell what SEC teams are legit top 20 teams. Auburn, USCe, and Ark are still in the air for me.
In the big 12, Texas and Nebraska are doing good.....especially Nebraska. Oklahoma is no where near being a top 10 team. No more scoring 55 points a game.
I would say the Pac 10 and Big 10 are about even with a slight edge towards the Pac 10. Arizona is a surprise, USC is winning, Oregon is killing people and Oregon state isnt shabby. Stanford and ASU are looking pretty good too, even though ASU lost.
The B10 is NOT as good as alot of people thought. I knew they had too high of expectations before the season started. It just doesnt turn around that much over one season. They are on the move up though. Its nice to see Mich on the comeback. I hope to see the Mich/OSU rivalry game be big time again. This w/e, even though the record doesnt show it, shows that the B10 isnt as great as alot of homers think it is. Wisconsin barely won on some miracles at home. Iowa was a fraud, MSU won on a play that shouldnt of happened (the playclock ran out for 1 or 2 seconds before the play started), Mich almost got beat by a nobody, and PSU showed last week they are down a notch. As most years.....OSU is the premium team with a bunch of followers. -

believerThe Big 10 had a somewhat disappointing performance this week....if you consider 9-2 disappointing.
Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, and Northwestern did what was expected...they dominated mediocre competition.
While Michigan, Illinois, and Purdue also won it took all these teams could muster to beat competition they should have dominated. Michigan in particular narrowly averted another Appy State scenario. Friggin pathetic.
In the games of national significance the Big 10 went 2-2. Any time a Big 10 team beats Notre Dame it's a quality win even if Notre Dame sucks and hasn't been a real factor in elite college football in a decade. Wisconsin is lucky plain & simple. Iowa traveled to Arizona and got spanked despite some last-minute heroics. That was a huge disappointment. While Minnesota did a good job of hanging with USC, that game only confirmed my belief that USC just isn't that good this year.
The Big 10 is better this year but not nearly good enough to compare to the SEC.
1. SEC

3. Big 10/Pac 10
4. MWC
5. ACC/Big East
6. WAC

centralbucksfanLMAO...3 weeks into the season and a BIAS SEC fan starts with the conference strength bullshit. Not all too suprising thought. Pretty much the norm anymore. Ridiculous thread. BTW, the only upset, if you want to call it that, was the Iowa loss. And they happened to play a top 25 team on the road AND were a DOG going into it! But whatever...I am sure a spin will be put on it.

Think about that one a second. Iowa - ranked #9 in the land - did indeed travel to the #24 ranked team and were considered the "underdog." Not sure how to spin that one but apparently the "experts" saw something going in...just sayin'. It's ghoing to take key wins in situations like this to get the Big 10 back to "top dog" status.centralbucksfan;489279 wrote:LMAO...3 weeks into the season and a BIAS SEC fan starts with the conference strength bullshit. As much as I want the Big 10 to reclaim its rightful place as the premier conference in college football, fact is there's still a LOT of work to do. -

Where did I say the Big Ten was the top dog? I didn't. But its WAY too early to predict who is 1,2,3 or 4. The Big Ten went 9-2...as the line predicted. Minny actually gave mighty USC a run for their money as well. And people are ripping on them because Iowa, an underdog, lost? Ya, ok...I get it.
I could throw this and that out about who played who and what the scores were...but again, at this point, early, its not worth it. -
TheMightyGatorsbtw who is the 2nd best team in the Big10? Is it Iowa with them losing to a team that just cracked the top 25? Is it Wisconsin with their 1 pt win over ASU at home? It might be Michigan after the impressive pounding of UMass yesterday.

I wish I could point out some SEC anomalies...but I can't. Half of the conference is ranked in the Top 25. Can't argue with that. The SEC is indeed the best BCS conference by a wide margin.TheMightyGators;489291 wrote:btw who is the 2nd best team in the Big10? Is it Iowa with them losing to a team that just cracked the top 25? The Big 12, Big 10, and PAC 10 - the next best - aren't even close I'm sorry to admit. -

I don't know but I'm pretty sure any one of them would beat the mighty gators. -

I certainly could. Who besides Bama has really looked that impressive? Ark maybe. Auburn stuggled to beat an ACC at home last nite. Fla? But again, 3 weeks into the season, its not worth it. On top of that, the SEC is playing in conference games already. Many conference haven't even started this yet. Other conference are playing and have played some quality OCC games to date. I'd say the SEC is 1..but I still say the margin isn't as much as some would like to believe. -
centralbucksfanBTW, for those who don't know, ESPN is doing a Conf. Power Ranking. Don't think its been updated after 3wk, but here is after 2nd week. At least they have some kind of formula in place. Highly doubtful it changes much from last week.
1. SEC
2. Big Ten
3. Big 12
4. Pac10

If the margin isn't what some believe, then which conference is closest to the SEC? -
like_thatScenario:
-OSU goes undefeated
-SEC team goes undefeated
-B12 team goes undfeated
Who plays for the national title? I say its SEC vs B12 at this point. -

Cleveland BuckIowa is the only Big Ten team who lost a game they should have won, and it was by one touchdown to a top 15 team on the road. The Big Ten is still clearly at worst, the second best conference.

LOL what are you smoking? IF OSU goes indefeated..you can pencil them in. Big12? Who? Neb? Texas? Neither is going to jump OSU if OSU keeps doing what they are doing. -

Again, my point is, its too early to determine this. Could be any of the obvious three IMO. -

Since when is a 24th ranked team in the top 15? -

Tell me what they are ranked today when the rankings come out. And tell me what they are ranked at the end of the year. -

The only way this happens is if someone in the Big12 just dominates the rest of the season and OSU looks less than impressive in some games. Nebraska would have the best shot at doing this especially if they can dominate Texas or OU in the Big12 title game while OSU is idle that week. -
karen lotzOh, right I see how that works.
